Just a random thought I had. Everything in Sora`s life is the result of Xehanort. He got the keyblade because of him, got to visit other worlds because of him. Gained massive power because of him. Gained Ventus`heart because of him. Has replicas and alternate version of himself

And now we have time travel.

At this point, I`m calling that the end of KH3 will be something that involves stopping Xehanort before he started, with the big choice being Sora losing everything that has happened along the way

I specifically avoided saying kill for that reason. It`ll probably be more metaphorical than that.

Like they use Kingdom Hearts to ambiguously stop Xehanort, and it undoes everything he did, or something

 

I don't think what he did will ever be undone, the heartless(/andnobodies/b/) will always be the default enemy in the game and undoing what he does will rid them, then they'd have to create a equally as popular minor enemy for the next saga's anatagonist.

I`m almost 100% sure that the next series will use a new enemy, or at least have some excuse for why the heartless come back. After all, it`s a pretty terrible conclusion if t`s just `Xehanort was defeated, but the heartless still exist and will continue to terrorize the worlds forever`

They're easily defeated though,and it wouldn't be just like "they were left to it" someone would come in and take control of them like Malicifent could do

I think this is a great theory. It would give the story a chance to have an interesting reset. If Sora never meets Kairi and Riku and Sora never have to go through all of this bullshit it gives them a chance to completely redevelop their characters and still continue the story.

Isn't the reason there's so few people in the worlds because the data that would need to be stored ultimately isn't a good use of space when we can have some sexy-as openings...

I like the heartless as an enemy, though I wouldn't mind them being over-written in someway but I don't want it to be everyone of MX's actions to be reversed, just feels like a wasted story to me

I doubt that would happen, just for the following reasons:

Sora would never have met everyone he did, not even Donald and Goofy

Roxas, Xion, and Namine would never have existed

Lea would never have met Sora

Kairi would still be in Hollow Bastion, never meeting Sora

Sora and Riku would just be normal island kids, and who knows how they turned out without Kairi to fight over (probably go with each other...lol)

Who knows where Ven would be, if he would even be a keyblade wielder, leaving Aqua and Terra a duo. Eraqus would be alive, Terra would probably never have had is struggle with the darkness because he never left, Aqua would just be awesome without an outlet.

 

I could see Sora sort of struggling with this sacrifice, making everything undone, but...just for the fact of Roxas, Namine, and Xion never existing; that's sort of a permanent thing that couldn't be undone. It actually might be interesting to have the other situations--ie, Sora meeting Kairi for the "first time," Terra and Aqua being masters together and investigating things on their own, them eventually meeting Ven and making him a keyblade wielder...meeting Lea...meeting Donald and Goofy...starting at level 0 again ( )

Or perhaps, there are ghosts of what might have been in Ven, Roxas, and Xion...or perhaps they're born into the world anyway, proving that they were supposed to exist afterall? All of them in Twilight Town, Namine lives in the now-unabandonedmansion... I mean, if you can't change destiny...and, say, it was always Xehanort's destiny to die...

I'm seriously thinking of writing a fanfic about this now...

I'm pretty sure Nomura said somewhere that Heartless will always exist as long as there are hearts, but I don't remember the exact interview. The best I could find now was Nomura saying:

Nomura: As Yen Sid says in "KHII", the Heartless cannot be separated from the darkness in people's hearts, and have been around for a long time. Beings of darkness can draw out the darkness in the heart, so Master Xehanort could summon the Neoshadows with his own hands. In the same way, when Xehanort and Ansem the Wise's students begin to perform the first experiments on the darkness of the heart, artificial Heartless were created in large numbers.

 

But I'll look up later. I bet Flaming Lea will show up to and correct me if I'm wrong.

Either way, Heartless existed even before of Xehanort's actions, and they will probably keep existing forever, as they are the darkness in people's hearts, and almost every heart has darkness. Heartless can't be gone.

Exactly. That's why Nomura isn't going to use his logic to find a way to break the time-traveling rule and undo the whole series. He already said KHIII will be partially about saving Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Roxas, Naminé, and Xion. While undoing everything would save the first three, as they would have never been in danger, it would be the exact opposite for the latter trio, as they would have never existed.

Of course, Timeless River brings a continuity error to this, but someone in KHInsider suggested that Merlin and Xehanort use different methods. If Xehanort's magic is different from Merlin's, then this theory could be right, as both of them would have different limitations on their powers.

 

Either way, this series happens in a world of fantasy and partially science-fiction, time travel was going to show up some... time, it was just a matter of... time. But I'm sure there'll be something of time travel in KHIII, even if just a "Sora sees his own future as an adult and then goes back without remembering anything, and his heart's memory gives him hope" or some other emotional thing. It could even be something Eraqus did after Terra-Xehanort split himself, and this thing would eventually lead to Xehanort's destruction in the second Keyblade War. Heck, Eraqus could even be the seventh light.

But it`s artificial heartless that would disappear. Pure blood heartless are not a major problem, they are dramatically more scarce than the artificial ones

I know obviously know about Timeless River. I would note that this instance of time travel is a side plot, not the conclusion to the Xehanort saga. I'm assuming that if they could have Merlin whip up a portal to the past to undo all their past defeats they would, hence the limitations to the time travel as you mention.

 

Time travel has already become more of a mess than it should be simply because there's more than one way to travel through time, without any clear reason as to why Merlin or Pete could summon a portal and Xehanort couldn't. I don't want the end of the game series to rely on them using some alternative method of time travel when Xehanort's method was emphasized so heavily in DDD.

 

But I agree with you on the "Sora vision" concept, and I would like to see Eraqus have an impact in some way. The vision idea is something I hadn't thought of before, and is genuinely intriguing. I still remain stubbornly anti-physical time travel, a view I realize will probably lead to dissatisfaction.

Good motivation for a future light-based anti-villain: simply use KH to "heal" every heart of darkness, and solve that problem.

 

I call Aqua. Or perhaps Terra; he could feel like everyone's hearts would be better off if they were just like the Princesses Of Hearts' hearts, since his own heart's darkness ended up giving him a miserable life.
