KHRecoded Re:coded has a better story than most people think

Recommended Posts

Okay, a lot of people have complained that there is practically no story in Re:Coded and that the only important thing in the game was the Ending & Secret Ending. i think that the people who say that the reason people say that there was no story in the game were just more focused/interested in wondering what Mickey wrote in that note Sora got at the end of KH2. Okay I'll agree that Re:Coded didn't have the most important story in the series but there was still more to the story in it than people realize.

For one, the story told us a few important things. The first thing about the story was that it focused on the bugs that was corrupting the data worlds as well as an unknown message that was never written in Jiminy's journal. Now, I know that a lot of people think that the whole "data bugs" thing wasn't all that interesting considering that you have to go through all the worlds from KH1 for the 3rd time again. And the fact that we had to fight those bugs (as well as the source of the bugs). But it still was a way to tell us what the true nature of the story was.

The second thing about the story was that it told showed us how Data Sora had to deal with the pain of forgetting all of his friends/memories from being reset to his normal self before he even met Donald and Goofy.  Not only that but to show us all the people that the real Sora had to save and what might to expect in the future (i.e Re:Coded's Secret Ending). And let's not forget the fact that in KH: DDD Maleficent and Pete wanted the data of all the worlds Sora visited that Mickey and co. had. That at least showed that Re: Coded's story wasn't completely bland.

So yeah, this was all I wanted to say about Re: Coded's story that a lot of people seem to complain about. I've seen a lot of comments about how Re: Coded is not too important and I can pretty much see why. But people fail to realize that there is a bit more importance to it than most people think. though I will agree that Days has a much better story. And while it may not be the most important in the franchise, it's still a bit important. not too important like all the other, but just retains some importance that connects to what lead Mickey to write the letter to Sora on what's ahead, what could possibly happen in the future of the series, and Xehanort's main plot,

It's not like it doesn't have any story. it's just not important.

Only the Ending has something to do with the other games, and I think it's very important. it hints Roxas' return, as well as Xion's. With that whole new notion that Nobodys grow hearts in KH3D, it's pretty much confrimed they're coming back.

So it is revelant, but very little, like you said yourself. I don't think it was a weak story, just not that important, and it made it all a little boring.

The reason people don't like the story because it does not further the plot in any way with the exception of the ending. It only brings up issues that have already been addressed. Quite frankly it was a story that wasn't completely necessary but was thrown in anyway. Although the gameplay kinda made up for the lack of story.

I've never said that Re:Coded was a bad game, I actually liked the game, it was fun. But yeah, only thing I didn't like was the fact that it has to be the same worlds of KH1 over again, but leaving that behind it's a good game.

Personally, I enjoy Re:Coded even more now that I've played Dream Drop Distance due to all of the parallels in the story. Makes it quite interesting :) plus part of me wonders if, since Xehanort/Ansem SoD was in the journal, if maybe he could get some of his 13 darknesses from there O.o anyways, my opinion

I always wanted the first Kingdom Hearts game to be re-released as a handheld ever since I was playing the Game Boy Advance xD Re:Coded wasn't a complete copy of Kingdom Hearts I, yet it had some of the same elements along with a lot of its own things, so I've always liked it! ^^

Re:coded is a filler better than KH 358/2 any day

you are going too far i think they are about equal, with Days having a slight advantage, Coded is in no way better than Days

Re:Coded was the second KH game I ever finished, and after playing the others, I realized it had an alright story but was more of 'The Story as of Now'. It was trying to explain the past plot points once again, though some people easily took that as just filler.

Yeah, I actually agree with you there. They--Tetsuya Nomura--gave Re:coded a little purpose, but I still don't think it was necessary.  One could easily skip Re:coded and manage to keep up with the Kingdom Hearts storyline just fine.

And I'm definitely not a Re:coded hater; it was the first KH game I played, and I therefore love it.

My main complaint is that the "torment" wasn't better incorporated into the disney worlds themselves. For example the pain of being lost in Olympus Coliseum mirroring Aqua's torment, or the pain of forgetting something important in Wonderland to mirror Roxas's torment. They did pick it up in the last two worlds (last three episodes), I just wish they began sooner.

Thank you. Re:coded revealed very useful things. The story, while many say was worthless, was actually of some use. I'll say it may not have been the best but it got some important plot done at the very least.

It's not a filler.

I wasnt much into plot because it was the first few games I played, before I understood the story I mean. Maybe days does have a better story, but that necessarily mean RE: Coded was irrelevant/filler. Besides, even though the story wasnt very entertaining and all it showed was the important ending, I still think RE:coded was okay and doesn't need to be treated badly in comparison with other games of the series >:/
