So over the years we've gained around 500 pokemon to the original 151. Catching them all has become quite a feat at this point. And as we've seen some of the new ones have looked...less than desirable. My question is do you think they'll ever stop at a certain number? I think they might but really it is their way to make some extra money. They could of course cycle through old pokemon for future games if they ever do stop making them. They do have enough of them to do that after all.  

 

But anyway, what about you? Thoughts? Comments? Random hate towards puppies?

I think the Pokemon company will not by chance stop at a certain point. They might, but then NEW CREATIVE IDEAS ZOMG. But i still think at some point they will. When the starters are Bacteria and virus pokemon

I hope they stop making new pokemon and start making new, better protagonists *coughs* They should make it on Red *coughs*

They wouldn't stop since its Nintendo's best selling franchise and you know how Nintendo's income will go down the drain if a company with their best-selling-franchise ends it.

 

As long as people play it, it's going to continue.

 

Plus they got 50 billion other ways to create Pokemon and to create a better plot. It wont die till far into the future.

You don't have to catch them all dude.This is just a catchphrase and you don't need to catch all of them to get the full experience of the game.

 

Plus,if there is a franchise that you're supposed to wish it would stop,it has to be Call of Duty

Besides,pokemon is a competitive game(Yes it is pseodo- Hardcores) They already had alot of tournaments for both the card game and the video game,the goal of increasing the number of Pokemon is to give you a wide variety to choose your team instead of duplicating the same Pokemons your opponent have.Do you really think the franchise would've succeed if they stuck to the first two generations???

Still, the first Quest you get is to complete the Pokedex. In every edition.To the Question: Sry, I'd like to correct myself and say it in a more appropriate way: I would like it to have an end. As I said, without new Generations of Pokemon it will die and I really don't want to see that. I would prefer a real end which is worth it.

A real end???? Since when the story was a main focus for Pokemon???? If it ended the franchise will die inappropriately.That's a kind of game that should continue and can't afford stopping.Final Fantasy for example won't end because every game has a different story even though the goal can be really similar(again,religious dude who want to be a god)

 

If you want Pokemon to end,that would mean the end of The Pokemon Company and Gamefreak.

 

It's like telling Nintendo to stop making Zelda games and Mario games just because there is a lot of them.

 

 

For me I don't mind Pokemon continuing as long as the games improve and that is what's happening now(Black & White 2 were huge improvements in my opinion).Unlike Final Fantasy which is getting worse with each entry

Yeah the Pokedex completion is the first thing a professor tells you in the Pokemon games but it's not mandatory or part of your main quest,you can say it's a huge side quest that you can take after finishing the game

Ehh, I don't mind if they add new Pokemons. I couldn't imagine anyone trying to catch same first and second generation pokemons in every single pokemon game. Also, it's not like you are forced to collect them all, if you are guy who likes to go for 100% completion then it should be good for you that you have something new stuff to do to achieve that in future Pokemon games. (if that makes any firetrucking sense) 

 

Also I don't see why they should end Pokemon games. Just think how mad people would be if they would see rip off from Pokemon just because they don't want to add more pokemons. 

 

Now that we started to talk about this: simple way to make Pokemon better: make story more interesting. Just please. (okay Pokemon's story is not bad, but it seriously is not masterpiece) 

 

(and seriously guys, why to bring FF to this discussion, okay it is okay to use it as comparison to Pokemon, but no need to start any shit storm about it here. We have FF forums here guys)

I'd love Pokemon to keep going, but I do think that it should have a point where they change something. Maybe start over, have a huge almost world ending catastrophe happen and you would not know how many Pokemon there are in the world until you find them. That would be an awesome game! You would be trying to figure out what actually happened to the world to put it in that state. Wow, this is just off the top of my head folks. Please be free to tell me if someone has thought of this before/ is a crappy idea.
