Where did Namine get her name from?

Posted

As the tiitle said, she was never in org XIII so where did she get her name?

Well, when Namine was born, Org. XIII snatched her right up, so the most logical thing to think is that they named her themselves. Either that, or it comes from the same source as the lesser Nobodies...which is....uh....

She's Kairi's and Sora's Nobody. Kairi means ocean and Nami means sky-touching wave, so I think the relation comes from there. (I read this somewhere a while ago)

The name Namine means nautical mile (or something similar) so themes related to sea, as kI = sea.

If you meant by lore, Org XIII named her. Why Namine...prolly cuz they had no Somebody I guess.

Good question indeed.  My guess is that the Organization decided her name, but I could be wrong.  It's really hard to say.

Probably the org decided it.

I assume the Organization named her when they found her. Anyway, her name is derived from the Japanese word "Nami" meaning "ocean wave" whereas Kairi's name (or rather, "Kai") means "sea". It's the same way Aqua's name is Latin for "water", and Xion's name means "tide". Anyway...

If the Organization named Namine, then her name meaning just about the same thing as Kairi's is one hell of a coincidence.

I just realized that as the nobody of a princess of heart, she probably wouldn't have the darkness necessary for Xehanort's plans, and that's probably why Xemnas never made her an organization member. I mean, I know that with Roxas they already had thirteen, but they sort of let Xion; why else not include Namine, even as a back-up, or to give her a purpose to follow the organization?

Well, I suppose they sort of did that by still naming her; they gave her something related to the name "Kairi", to help give her a separate identity.

What I'm really stuck on is how did they figure out her powers...I mean how exactly do you test her having control over Sora's memories...? Meh, they were already doing memory experimentation in C.O. and replica stuff, probably wasn't too hard...

Well, the organization would probably know she was Kairi's nobody (they've been keeping tabs on Sora) and named her so accordingly.

They should bring about Namine's past in future games

It must have a meaning... It's linked to Kairi. How would the Organization know that, I have no idea.

Wait, she's SORA'S NOBODY TOO? I thought she was only Kairi's.

Yeah, when Sora stabbed himself in kh1 while Kairi's heart was still in him Namine was created from both of them.

I assume that Xemnas names all the humanoid Nobodies he comes across but how he came to "Namine" (if he named) her is beyond me. I don't remember if he was aware of Kairi at the time but I kind of doubt he knew she was Kairi's Nobody right off the bat. Or maybe he did if he used that floating name trick, how ever that works. Does it tell Xemnas a person's name or does have to know it before hand and he just does the floating name thing because it looks cool? But even if he knew that's Namine's Somebodies name was "Kairi" did he know who she was? I guess he might have had an idea at least or naming her Namine "is one Hell of a coincidence  the "there's no coincidence in fate" thing aside.

GAHH! Even Namine's name is a mystery and a pain in the ass to figure out. Ultimately it's irrelevant though, there's probably no more significance than its meaning. The simple answer is that someone in the Org. named her.
