Kindergarten Boy Suspended for His 'Distracting' Mohawk

Posted

So in a nutshell, a Kindergarten boy went to school with a fairly small mohawk. Imagine in link below. Apparently all the kids in the class kept wanting to touch it. So the school and superintendent argued “Our policy clearly states that any dress or grooming which is disruptive or distracting to the educational process is not acceptable." So they suspended him for a "distracting" mohawk. I guess rules are rules but don't know if the school has to go THAT far to suspend him. He could of just worn a hat or something.

happens to everyone.it's okay :3

That is one epic mohawk! Shame on the horrid school system for suspending him.

I got suspended for wearing a power ranger outfit once... xD

I just...

*facepalm*

That's bullshit. Mohawks are cool. That mohawk isn't even big and colorful like many that I've seen. No way is that distracting!

Well, speaking of which, there was this one time last year, on a Saturday, where Mom told me a true story. There was this anti-religious school that suspended a kid for saying "Bless You" to another kid, who sneezed. Apparently, this wasn't fair to the kid's family, so they sued the school & forced them to apologize to the poor kid. This is all true. Don't you think that this is all madness? & If that's not enough, they let the Star Wars Weekends's dance stage dance to "I'm sexy & I know it" publicly in Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. I found this on YouTube.com just last week. Hueh, seems strange how people treat their kids these days. Grown-ups are so careless. Seriously, why does the world let people do stupid shit like this?

Oh yes let us suspend this kid for getting a haircut but accept the fact that bullying, school shootings, favoritism, the necessary supplies not being met, buildings not up to date, low salaries, impatience with slower students, RESPECT, and school pride are not being met! This is what administrators waste their time on...what a shame.

i actually wanna touch it....

So you're going to punish a 5 year old for something he didn't do?  This world is messed up.

Unless that mohawk could sever shin, he should not have been suspended. If it disrupted the school process, then that's a different story.

Glad I wasn't in this school or I would have been expelled for having naturally spikes hair that people randomly touched. >_>

I've lost faith in humanity since... A kid now?

Remember when schools actually gave students valuable knowledge and focused on making sure they are successful for the future?

Neither do I. This reminds me when my middle school banned kids from dying their hair.

THAT'S WHAT HE GETS FOR TRYING TO BE DIFFERENT!

I'm posting to take Xaon's place.

But yeah, they could have just told the kids to take their ADHD medication and stop touching the freaking kids head.  Seriously, creeps all up in his grill and he gets suspended?  The only hairstyle that can really be purposely distracting is vividly coloured hair or styled hair that blocks the board.

Schools these days are getting too strict.

Another point that I didn't put, is why suspend? They could of just told their parents to comb down the Mohawk or shave it off (Oh hell no D<)

The school called it distraction the education of the other classmates. They all wanted to touch it. And if you think about it, does a 5 year old ever NOT get distracted by anything? Load of bologna if you ask me.

Poor that kid...
