Did you honestly like Re:Coded, or did you dislike/hate it?

Posted

I've actually played Re:Coded, and from the bottom of my heart, i can honestly say i don't like the game at all.

I payed 20 dollars for it at gamestop a year ago(From all the gameplay i saw, it looked and seemed alot like KH1, which i loved to death, so i thought i would like it). I made a big mistake.

I started the game, (forgot which difficulty i did it on, or if the game even had a difficulty selection) and played through it for awhile. I got lost on the Destiny Islands, and the game felt like it wasn't even an official installment in the KH series, it felt like it was a FAN MADE GAME. A VERY BADLY MADE FAN GAME.

I went on to the other worlds, and it felt worse and worse. I liked a little bit how when you got into battle at Olympus coliseum it became more like traditional RPG, so that was ok, but it still didn't help at all, because Olympus coliseum was the one world that trolled me in terms of getting around the place, i constantly got lost.

And there was barely a story too! The only things really pointing to it having a thin story at all was that Mickey created Data Sora to clean up the bugs in the journal, that one point in the game where Data Sora got seemingly destroyed, but was brought back. And then the ending, where Mickey says goodbye to Data Sora, sends the letter to Sora telling him that he needs to take the Mark Of Mastery to save those people connected to him.

All in all, i think Square barely put any effort when making this game. It felt very half assed, i am so dissapointed at the Osaka team for ruining the potential this game could've had. Re:coded is the only game in the KH series that i genuinely hate, even to this day. All the other games i liked/loved alot, and were worth my money. This one was not.

Coded doesn't get enough credit. The story wasn't as good as other games, sure. But it is super fun to play. I actually like it more than Kh1 and 358/2 Days. A looooooot more than Days.

FOR THE LAST TIME, THE GAMEPLAY WAS GOOD BUT THE STORYLINE FELL SHORT ... In my opinion...

Re:Coded is one of the best things to happen to the series honestly.

I liked it at first, and then as I played it...it grew stale. Like days, but days has a much more interesting story.

Neh, it was good. Bad story, good gameplay.

I disliked it myself. Story bad, gameplay bad. That's a no-no. I can't see the appeal as to how others see it as great gameplay. Yeah, its not the same, but despite its changing gameplay, no gameplay style was overall better.

I appreciate the game for what it was trying to be. The thing is, it didn't have potential to begin with. They had to base it off a cell phone game of all things. Other games that attempted a more grandiose plot I felt fell short of the mark such as days. Its not like anything was bad about it unless you get lost in olympus collesium, (but how does that work, you have a map?). The gameplay I also thought was the best in the series. It refined what I thought was already the best in BbS. Maybe this is just because I didn't have any expectations to begin with?

The worst part was getting all the stickers lol.

I agree with you completely.

The gameplay is really nice, and I agree that part of it is fun, but in my opinion, it severely lacked on the story side of things, which is what gets me the most.

I usually love to replay my KH games more than once, but for me, I think Re:Coded is a one and done deal.

Coded had a fun and enjoyable gameplay, but the game itself in terms of story wasn't necessary at all. They could reduced the whole game to three cutscenes and implented them in a different game, or they could have expanded upon the story of the series and added a lot more useful information. Another problem is that we have to go through yet again, most of the same worlds you go through in Com and KH1 in a similar order. The worlds doesn't feel all that fresh even with the new gameplay mechanics here and there. But all in all, the game was enjoyable and I'm glad I played it.

It was alright, dont know how people can HATE it. I mean come on, its Kingdom Hearts?

I really enjoyed the gameplay but it seriously lacked in the storyline aspect. It did really rehash alot ( especially the worlds) so i can definitely see why there are complaints but ,really, i liked this game for its versatile gameplay and i really had a good time with it so it was worth the time imo.

I still really like it.

The story isn't epic, sure, but it's well told. It knows exactly what it's about, who the characters are, and what's going on. I personally like how Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are the ones in the spotlight: my favorite part is when the latter pair get to go back to Hollow Bastion to help out data-Sora, and you see how happy t hey are just to be hanging around with their old buddy again. If anything, it shows how you can get an emotional punch from your story while keeping it simple.

I enjoyed the gameplay. The constant switching of styles keeps the player on their toes, and makes it so you can't just mash X all the time, and have to adapt to new situations.

The keyblades offered are the most useful in the series, with each having tangible benefits, and will alter how you do combat, rather than just giving you minor stat boosts.

Also, Namine saves the day again.

this, and even though it may be the worst title in the series, does not mean it sucks by any means. Its still kingdom hearts and i still reccomend it to everyone.

Actually, I really enjoyed Re:coded.  It was the first Kingdom Hearts game I played, and therefore one of my favorites.  The gameplay was better in comparison to some (Days and DDD come to mind), and I really loved the variety of the side-scrolling worlds and turn-based combat system.  It was a shame that the plot didn't have more depth, however, as I felt that was one area where Re:coded was truly lacking.  This was by no means my favorite Kingdom Hearts title, but I would definitely say it's a very good game.

1% of me honestly liked Coded.

I loved recoded but do not respect it for plot development but for execelnt fun innovative varied gameplay, gameplay so varied and customizable (except for those big bug world parts) that i was compelled to play it from beginning to end without taking breaks.

It should get more credit and i understand that some peoplle dont like it because of its lack of impact but the game is on foundational level very good.

i think it mught be a test of new gameplay devices to be in a later title, just maybe :D

I played it for like twenty minutes and went back to DDD.

Might make another attempt at it though... Might as well. It's not that I don't like it, it's just so unnesassary... I mean come on, Data Sora?... Who knows, I might love it if I can just reach that twenty-one minute mark :P

I Liked it better then Days, the gameplay was really nice to play on the ds, but i hate the data world thing ( Those bugs or something dont remember how it called )

What did you expect? The greatest game in the world? It's a port of a mobile phone game. The story was ok and it was a very fun game. I don't see anything bad about the game. It doesn't seem fan made at all to me. It was originally a mobile phone game, it isn't going to be as good as the other games but it was still really fun. I enjoyed every world I played in, they were all fun to play.

Err... No. It wasn't. It was meant for the OP and others who think it was a bad game.

I didn't expect it to be as good as the other installments, since there's only so much a DS can do. I just expected it to be fun, have an ok story, and not be confusing on where to go in the worlds. For me, it failed on all those things. I dislike it.
