So ever since I started reading Homestuck (if you don't know what that is, this topic still might make sense to you, but if not don't worry about it), I had grown, with a passion, to hate, loathe, and COMPLETELY CAST OUT the character Equius.

 

But over time I started to actually really like the character, and I realized it was one of those "I hate you and love you" things. I've had that sort of attraction for people in the past (and that's typically how all of my crushes develop), and now I find myself totally in love with the stupid, ratchet-ass character.

 

My friends who are into Homestuck know that I hate the character Equius like the back of their hand. For a few months I've wanted to tell one of my friends "dude I secretly love Equius", but I don't know how to go about it.

 

I don't mean it in a serious way, but a humorous one - if I tell them my real feelings on the character and pretend to stop hating him, they'll never let me live it down! I think it's more funny than anything, and it makes me laugh whenever it pops into my head.

 

Lol, so what about you? I'm curious if other people have/have had sort of a thing they secretly love and no one must know about...at least, offline.

 

Never done that. Unless you count my KH (jokingly) hate.

No. If I don't like something, everyone knows about it.

Kingdom Hearts.  No one must ever know... unless they like KH, too.

I wouldn't say I pretend to "hate" stuff...I just don't mention it unless I know someone else likes it.

I don't care what people think about me liking Kingdom Hearts. I know a few people that call kingdom hearts G*y but I still tell them I like it. I never try and hide my kingdom hearts pride. B)

 

They wouldn't understand since they never played it....they are missing out.

That's true! They won't know until they try. I mean I never cared for the Legend of Zelda until I played it, and now it dominates 55% of my iPod. But not everyone can like everything, I suppose.

LOL I was the exact opposite, I read it and pretended to stand it but I really hated it... I really only read it to figure out what my friends were talking about but I stopped when characters stared being gay, that just took shit too far.

To be honest, I tend to be kind of more blunt about not caring for anime and manga.  Even though I read the occasional manga, I am so tired of the stereotype that 'if you like Japan you must be into anime/manga' that I will act like I dislike anime more than I really do sometimes.  But really I just hate that people only know about anime and don't see all the other amazing things about Japan that I love so much.

Oh man yeah I know how you feel. But eh, some people ONLY like anime, some people ONLY like the culture - people can be vastly different in interests, but yeah I totally know what you mean. I'm mostly interested in religion in Japan, the food, language, and the overall culture.
