Why Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is better than the remake.

Posted

So I know that many Europeans are upset that they weren't able to play Re: Chain of Memories. But here's why I think that the original game for the Game Boy was better than the remake.

1.) Portable: This was the first Kingdom Hearts game you take with you where ever you went. You weren't confined to a T.V. and a game system.

2.) No Voice Acting: I'm sorry, but Re; Chain has some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard! The English voices don't even match up with the mouth movements half of the time! The Original game had you reading speech bubbles, which made you envision what the voices sounded like.

3.) Better control: Re: Chain's movements with the Keyblade aren't precise and fluid, meaning it lags. You'll see what I mean when you play it. When you go to try and hit a heartless, it takes Sora about 3 seconds to move his Keyblade after you've pressed the button! In Chain of Memories, the movements were precise, except for the dodge roll and magic, but at least you could hit things in this game!

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is one of my favorite Kingdom Hearts games, while Re:Chain is one of my least favorite! For those of you who have played Re:Chain, what are your thoughts? Do you like the original or remake better?

I have played both the original Chain Of Memories and it's remake, and I like both games, but prefer the remake.  Although you make good points, in the end, it's your matter of opinion.  I thought that Re: Chain Of Memories was a good game, and the voice acting is really good in my opinion, plus, you get one extra boss battle against Marluxia, which is a plus for me.  I deeply enjoyed Re:Com, but it comes down to taste, for those who prefer consoles or handhelds. :3  Plus, hearing Axel's awesome quotes was reward enough. :D

4) It is impossible to do an 80HP challenge with Riku now.

5) In the original you could make paths like this [}-[]by opening 3 doors and not remaking any rooms.

| |   [] -[]If you try to do that in the remake you will end up with this []x[]

| | []-[](- or | represents an open path, and X represents a closed one.)

6) This is user specific, but honestly I find the old hundred acre woods better. Being more so like a mini adventure puzzle than a minigame world.

7) Objects don't redrop moogle points and HP unless if you remake the room. In the original they did. This made it so you could get decks without making dozens and dozens of rooms. Which helped you keep the map cards you needed for special rooms.

My first kh game was com on the gba. Ive played Re com and its a tough decision on which is better. The graphics in re com are amazing compared to the gameboy version, and yes I agree the voice acting was a little shaky at times.

But Im a sucker for any voice acting in games because just reading their words on the screen isnt the same in comparison.

Though the dialogue in the gameboy version especially axels, was a bit different too. I mean axel in the way his dialogue goes, he seemed way more evil and just darker in the gameboy games.

While in the ps2 version he seems just a bit more light hearted.

Both have their good and their bad when u compare the 2. But it just boils down too what parts u consider the most important in making a good game.

I liked them both :)

Well that's called lip syncing I believe.

I think they will fix this in HD Remix 1.5. Better wait till this to compare.

talking about remakes the worst was Re:Coded, the original was alot better imo, the graphics in the remake were ugly lol

I haven't played the original, I thought the voice acting was good but I do agree with you on the lip syncing. It looked awkward in the remake. xD

This man is SO right when it comes to Axel. I thought he had a deeper voice (I love Quintin Flynn, but Axel and MGS2 Raiden sound like wimps). Because of his facial structure in his COM dialogue box I thought Axel was more buff and his model looked thin to give him a tall appearance and save data space by leaving out pixels. The presentation made me fear and respect the mighty and terrifying member of the Organization. The cold-hearted assassin who struck down Vexen. He who made me rage for a whole week as his final battle wore my patience, damn spammy fireballs...

You can't imagine my face in KHII when I met Axel again. He crouches and pounces like a kitty cat...?

Anyway, COM was my very first KH game as well. I think both COM and ReCOM are great and should both be played.

What's a girl? xD

I remember seeing axel in kh2 back when I had like 0 interest in the game (was there ever a time?) And I hadnt played com in years. But when I saw him I flipped for the entire cutscene. I couldnt remember his name but I was all like, "ITS THAT GUY IS THAT GUY FROM THE GAMEBOY GAME! " jumpjng aroumd and freaking out.

Remake is better even though its not my favorite.

Us Aussies couldn't play it either. :(

Can't wait for HD 1.5 ReMIX.

Remakes & reissues in KH are always better.
