As stated below in this video from WatchMojo, Kingdom Hearts is the 8th most overrated video game franchise.

It also says "It(Kingdom Hearts) would never have flown off the shelves if it wasn't for the fact that it was a giant Disney/Final Fantasy/Emo circle jerk." This leaves me to wonder, what would have happened if there were no Disney and Final Fantasy characters in the game? Would it be as good as it is now? Would we even know the game even exists? Tell me what you think.

If there weren't no Disney and FF characters then it obviously wouldn't be KH obviously.

It's just someones opinion , not necessarily fact . I just enjoy KH for what it is and that's all that matters

I think without the Disney elements there's a number of people who wouldn't have thought to pick it up unless they were already into RPGs.

And I don't see how it's emo.

And while I first got attracted to the game because of the Disney characters (I stopped playing any video games after my father left until KH3) I continue to buy from the series because the unique style of gameplay is my favourite.  

 

Personally I don't see KH as overrated, considering while we may come across many fans online I've yet to meet more than 3 in real life, and 2 have gone off it with the last one playing it when he can but it's not a must to play it.  

 

I agree with FF though... I personally don't like turn based games (yet I do have some FF games), and I would most likely enjoy XIV (based of the KH engine) more than any other FF game. 

I also agree with whatever the no.1 ranked one was.  CoD and Halo merge into one for me and I can't be annoyed replaying those final seconds to find out which one.

Yes, I still respect the host's opinion but the reasoning for KH and for the some of the other items on this list just aren't very good.

Some people wouldn't have gotten into kingdom hearts if it wasn't what it is(as stated above)that said kingdom hearts is what made me love jrpgs(and rpgs on the whole) so much.It might not have been as huge a success as it is if it didn't have Disney and FF in it but guess what, thats not kingdom hearts and that guy is talking about some game that was never made and gameplay would of never made kingdom hearts popular please,I've yet to play another action rpg(or another game) that is even similar to kingdom hearts battle system nor as fun.I bet if they made any drastic changes to the battle system or even mild,it'd turn alot of people My friend hates everything about kingdom hearts(he hates it so much I can't start) yet he adores the battle system.I know I'm biased to kingdom hearts but I don't think that's kicking in here.

 

Can't complain with number 2 or 1.

People may not have been interesting in kh at first if square and disney weren't in it. But if it wasn't good a lot of people wouldn't stick around. Like a lot of other crappy Disney games. I do agree with most of these though. 

 

The Final Fantasy one is pretty lame as well.

Well it's their opinion if they think it's "overrated". Don't see a reason to get worked up about it and that it shouldn't ruin your experience if you enjoy Kingdom Hearts.

I've seen that video before, and cannot agree with some of the games on that list.

Without the Disney and Final Fantasy characters, it would just be another Final Fantasy with an all new cast.

I would never have bothered with it because the Final Fantasy thing was the whole reason it caught my attention.  I'm not saying it needed Disney and FF to be a good game, but it wouldn't be the same.

I dont know, without all the influences KH would be a different game(sure, darkness will still be said throughout the whole game).
