And amazingly enough, Gamestop manages to screw me over yet again. (Gamestop rant)

Posted

So I preorder the game a day or two after it was available for preorder. Then I get to the Gamestop at 9:55 am so that they can't tell me "lolz we gve et 2 someboode els sry lolz" and it opens at 10:00 am. I ask for my game and artbook. So the employee looks my name up and gives me the standard edition. Telling me that I didn't order early enough for the artbook. The cutoff date was in September.

WHAT THE firetruck.

I ORDERED IT IN MAY!!! I take precautionary measures to make sure this doesn't happen and yet Gamestop still manages to always do this to me. I called Gamestop back asking them: "What are you going to do about this? I have a receipt showing that I preordered this BEFORE September. Am I not GUARANTEED an artbook?" They told me that there was nothing they could do about it because they only order a set amount before the cutoff date, and that if there was an artbook copy available after the 48 hours, they would give that to me. So despite ordering before anyone else, I'm low priority. I knew I wasn't being paranoid.

I'm now calling customer service, and I've been on hold for half an hour now. They need to get their shit together. Beyond pissed right now, but I'm not giving up yet. I'm fighting this. I still have the unopened copy, and I wont be playing it for 48 hours. Opening the game = giving up.

Anyone else have issues?

EDIT: Hallelujah, someone finally picked up.

ANNNND I'M ON HOLD AGAIN.

Now they tell me to contact Square Enix CS. *sigh*

Now SE has me on hold... no catchy music either. Just the stupid beeping.

And Square Enix told me to contact the Gamestop Manager. HOOOOOOO BOY.

And Gamestop is telling me that I can come back, and they will give me the artbook! WISH ME LUCK!

WOOP WOOP I got it!!! :D Never preordering there again. *phew* I'm just going to sit and play this game now guys... finally... and I love this artbook.

All is good. Sorry about the rant everyone. :)

Just go to Target, I hear they only received Limited Edition Copies. Word of mouth though, best to check first ;P

With something like this, (i.e. limited edition pre-order bonus goods) it's best to pre-order on line and have it shipped to you. Sorry bud. Wish I could help.

 What the firetruck!

You should just kick their ass. Like really, dude it was your money after all. In Belgium they wouldn't even have to dare come up with this shet.

Maybe it'll cheer you up a little saying that the artbook wont be that much of a price, and I didn't pre order the limited edition either :D

Besides I still have to wait 3 days for the game to come out >.>

Got my copy with the artbook and I'm so excited. Popping it in right now.

Fool. Wow, that's too bad. I just picked up mine. And I preordered pretty late. So I got it, and I'm walking back. I chech the back of the game and I notice that it says there's an artbook. So I guess I got the artbook no problem.

Lol i'm glad you got the artbook :) Enjoy the game! xD

Amazon FTW. And congrats on fighting for the limited edition, enjoy :)

Looks like you shouldn't do business with GameStop anymore.

Square Enix's hold should have had catchy Final Fantasy music.

wow man, I'm sorry for all your trouble. It sounds like that guy was trying to steal your copy...I've actually heard of Gamestop employees telling their customers "sorry we ran out of the pre-order bonus" so they can keep it themselves. Low life scum.

They could have EASILY looked up the date you ordered it and given it to you right then and there, because it was right when they opened. What the hell? That actually makes ME mad, lol. I would have REFUSED to leave until they gave me the correct item because they have proof of date ordered in the system.

I don't even see why they even said that to you. It was most likely done purposefully.

If I preorder from Gstop, I make sure its the normal edition so I wont get screwed somehow.

My GameStop is good to me. I've never been screwed over by them. I got my art book. Sorry about your luck.

I'm waiting for the day gamestop tries to screw me over especially if it in-vales kingdom hearts

I'm actually not all that surprised Gamestop did this. Some days it's good while others are like __ __||| But hopefully you get your artbook! But as I said before:

The manager at my gamestop is awesome. I preordered on august 25 and the receipt said kh 1.5 standard and the manager at the counter just gave me a limited edition copy. :) And im sorry you had to go through that but its cool that you got one.

The artbook really isn't that exciting, unless you care about your disc being stored in a fancy case. The majority of the pictures in it we've already seen on the internet back when the game was first released.

I personally work at a GameStop. I can tell you it's not your stores fault. The person who handles adding games into the system messed up and marked them so they all say "NoArtbook" so if they didn't know that then it looks like they are the jerks. Our store figured it out because I pre-ordered it and so did a friend and the ASM said that someone messed up adding the SKU code so they all say Basic vs. Limited.

Yeah, that sounds anout right. My receipt said "NoArtbook" as well, which shouldn't be. I didn't know who to speak to about it. I'm glad the issue was settled though.

Oh, I knew it was nothing special. But I'm a collector, who likes to own physical things. I want it more to display on my shelf than for the actual artwork. And it looks absolutely sexy next to my KH manga.

You're not the only one man. I got my limited edition with the art book at Best Buy and I didn't get the code for the dynamic theme! >:{

I remember when i went to gamestop to get the adventure time game special edition and the cashier said, "sorry we only have the regular", so i go to another employee who was working the floor and ask him if they have any and he says "oh yea i think we had one copy left". He then goes directly behind the cashier, opens a drawer and wallah! There it was. Fishy eh? Ever since then i have been using Amazon for games.
