Sony Needs Nintendo To Be Successful

Featured Replies

I thought it was because if a disagreenebt between Nintendo, and Sony about a cd-add on that cause Sony to make consoles?

Well, the PlayStation was created after a bad deal between Nintendo and Sony in the first place.  Yoshida has stated several times his enjoyment of the Nintendo consoles and games. In fact, he owns at least one of every Nintendo console, last time I checked. I get where he's coming from though. Sony needs Nintendo, not for the consoles, but to induct gamers who like playing their games using controllers. I believe Sony and Nintendo are on great terms right now. It's Microsoft we have to look at. Of course, with the flip of a switch again, Microsoft could kill their gaming consoles with the Xbox One. They're treading on thin ice at the moment.

I agree, it's not like Sony and Nintendo are doing horrible...The one that needs to get itself together right now is Microsoft since they are on a tight rope with the Xbone and that can turn into a bad situation in a second after the mess they did to it....

In most areas healthy competition is needed to drive them forward otherwise it's just one massive monopoly who can charge any price they desire for their products.

Why does there need to be a genuine competition? They both make good games, they both have excellent properties and companies to use. Why is there even a sense that you have to explain that 'OH, WELL, SONY WOULDN'T BE ANYWHERE WITHOUT NINTENDO!' Does it matter? I enjoy them both. This sense that people have to justify their console purchases by bashing the other companies is nonsensical. You made your purchase, stop shitting on what other people like. You can always buy their stuff later.

I like this forum topic! Around the internet you find alot of people spouting doom and gloom for Nintendo and the Wii U. I have even seen one or two saying Nintendo would need to abandon the Wii U! Its good to see that there are people out there who have other opinions, even Executives of other companies!!!

Well, I mainly said this because there are always those Sony fanboys that bash Nintendo and say their systems and games suck. When they make innovative, and amazing consoles/games. I'm just tired of seeing all the hate  that the Sony fanboys bring to Nintendo. But I agree with what you said as well.

I always thought this was the situation. Without competition in an Economy, what could drive one team to do better than the other?

Yet the Sony fanboys will still bash the Wii U...

I actually thought this was really interesting, I had no clue that the president of Sony like the Wii U so much, especially considering he has not one, but two. I wonder what this could end up leading to between the companies? Imagine a system with the power of a Sony console and the innovation of a Nintendo console... They'd run any competition into the dust. ._.
