I'm kind of offended how some people hate Kingdom Hearts because it's 'kiddy' or 'overrated' I personally LOVE the series, but I guess Kingdom Hearts isn't for everybody.. what do you guys think??

Overrated is a meaningless word.  Can't I just like my giant keys and big shoes and hearts and stuff without people bitching that what I like happens to be liked by a lot of other people?

This series is underrated and the only reason people called it "overrated" was because at E3 this past summer they showed the announcement trailer and everyone lost there shit while this happened people were assuming it would be a PS4 exclusive, so around that time during the Fanboy War of 2013 Sony people were telling XboxOne fans that "You guys don't have KH3 which will be amazing so suck it" but then Nomura made it multi-platform which lead to Xbox One fans saying "It's overrated,gay, and stupid" in retaliation to Sony Fans poking fun at them 

I don't think it's overrated. It's not popular enough to be in my opinion.  But other people's enjoyment or lack of the series doesn't affect my enjoyment.  

 

I think the only thing that was overrated was the KH3 announcement trailer, since it got the attention of fans and people who long since abandoned the series when they finished KH2 who were over hyped just to see the announcement, the trailer itself wasn't great to me.

Kingdom Hearts is just a thing you need to play for yourself to understand. Kingdom Hearts really does have a huge fanbase though, I dont think its overrated, or underrated. It really just depends on what kind of games you like to play.

Kingdom Hearts has some real deep meaning to it, and that really connected to me very well. Since we all are slightly different in some way, some may believe it is overrated. I think it is just perfect, but there are some corny bits for sure.

 

Light is always the best way, and that I truly believe, as does Sora

I wasn't calling Kingdom Hearts overrated.. it was the people who hates the series. Like I said, I LOVE Kingdom Hearts 

But I agree. The people who doesn't like Kingdom Hearts, are probably CoD fanboys. 

This is last series in world that I can consider overrated. the only thing  in the gaming market right now that is overrated is FPS and third person shooters( even through I do like them).During this generation of gaming the majority of people only want games with blood guns and gore in them, anything other then that is to "childish" :

among people who know about it, it's overrated. you have to admit. the series has its flops and everyone credits it because they think it's SO AMAZING (trust me it is) that disney and square did a successful and awesome collab. But there are better games. It's overrated for a reason. and just because i say it is doesn't mean i think it sucks. it deserves the praise it gets.

 

but in the rest of the gaming world that doesn't pay attention to JRPGs. Come on. i have a ton of friends that know who cloud strife and FF is. yet they have no idea what kingdom hearts is.on a wide scale it isn't even CLOSE to being overrated.

I don't think it's overrated at all.

 

It's just,there is two facts that annoys me about the series:

 

1it's fanbase.

 

I'm sorry if I might offend someone with this,but the Kingdom Hearts fanbase is one of the most annoying fanbases I've interacted with when it comes to RPGs,not as bad as the awful Final Fantasy fanbase mind you,but I can never seem to have a fun discussion with them,every time you discuss something it turns into a controversy in no time and people starts mixing facts and speculation to the point you yourself get absolutely lost and confused to the point you don't wanna continue the discussion anymore

 

Did I also mentioned that every character has it's fanboysfangirls who wish they were the main protagonists instead of the real one???

I fully acknowledge that each game in the series is important and contribute to the story one way or another,but ever since the start of FFXVVersus XIII development,Nomura started to drag and drag the narrative,sure I loved each game,but Birth by Sleep for me was the biggest offender,yes we got explanations that raised even more questions,but we didn't progress forward,we jumped back 10 years,I know it's a prequel,but holy shit.

 

And the story didn't finally progress past Kingdom Hearts 2 until Dream Drop Distance came out....Re:Coded was there to decypher Namine's message in Jiminy's Journal

Exactly

 

While the E3 announcement was a surprise in itself,it wasn't really that impressive and we didn't get a single detail on the plot aside from Sora picking up Eraqus's keyblade

 

And it also makes me really worried about KH3,the jump from the old engine that they were using for over 10 years to a huge leap to the Ps4 can be very overwhelming for the development team since the series didn't make the transition to HD like what Final Fantasy

 

I think KH3 should've been on the Ps3 first to end the Xehanort Saga.THEN start the new Saga on next gen

I think the second game is overrated stupidmaleficentfillerstoryline. But overall, no, I don't find them too be overrated. I just enjoy them for what they are (again, the second game... is an expectation)  I even love the stuff with Disney. But then again, I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Disney, so you might want to take my opinion with a grain of salt

Some of the kingdom hearts games are overrated, but in general i think that people who havent played the series judge it to harshly.

What's over and under rated are largely personal opinion. I personally think those who say KH has the best story ever made are overrating the story, but for them it might be the best story they ever encountered. Sure I have seen some people overstate the quality of the gameplay, but meh that's almost as opinionated as judging what truly is the best story. But as a general consensus I would have to say KH isn't overrated as a whole. Not because it doesn't have as many followers as other series, but because I feel the percentage of people who say it is the best thing ever are extremely small. But in the end over/under rated are just words to use when something is rated higher or lower than you think it should be.

It all comes down to perspective with these kinds of people, but to me, Kingdom Hearts is not overrated, rather, I think that some people underrate it drastically, not taking the time to appreciate this gaming masterpiece Nomura has crafted.  I personally love Kingdom Hearts better than Final Fantasy(don't get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy.), and I think it's story and gameplay are unique as they constantly evolve during the series.  In a modern age where Call of Duties and Halos and other kinds of games are overwhelming the market, Kingdom Hearts is a breath of fresh air, because something new is always brought to the table, plus, reason to keep on playing.  I am a passionate Kingdom Hearts fan, and I'll defend this series to the death, not only because it's my favorite video game series, but also because it changed my life!
