Which show is better as a whole; The Last Airbender, or The Legend Of Korra?

 

Let me know in the comments section below, and why!

 

My answer: In my opinion, both a really well done shows. But Avatar: The Last Airbender is my favorite show, of all time. I have every episode on disc, and I have a signed autograph of Mae Witman ( Voice of Katara )

 

The difference between TLA, and LOK, are:

 

1. The sense of diversity

All three books of Airbender lead to the same situation. The sense of the whole world on his shoulders. His loved ones, gone. Him having to learn all the elements before facing the firelord. In a small window of time, that and being the last of your people, having the weight of the entire world, and everything you hold dear, diminished, made us feel for Aang.  Sure, Korra went though Diversity. But it was nothing like Airbender's.

 

2. The lack of traveling

This was an extreme issue especially for the LOK series. Especially for Season one, basing in mainly Republic City. One of the dynamic affects of Airbender was the places the adventure took you. In every episode, or every other episode you were introduced into a new place, and a new situation. 

 

3. Romance

With Aang and Katara's romance, it was enjoyable! It took things slow. The events between them were cute, and memorable. And were completely necessary. I really felt chemistry between the two. That and the length of the seasons doubled that of Korra's. With Korra's, it was extremely RUSHED. I realize it was a smaller series, and still is. But still, Korra and Mako, were NOT pertaining at all. And they had no chemistry.

 

4. Modern Appliances

In Airbender, we saw so much more diversity in the nature, the way of life, and the way they used there bending. I feel that modernizing LOK ruined a huge aspect of the show. Using cars, instead of Bison's. NO! Airbender was just better in this.

 

Overall I say Airbender is twice as good as Legend Of Korra. Don't get me wrong, I like the LOK series too, but not as nearly as good as Airbender. 

 

It better illustrated cute moments, as well as diversity. I could rant all day, but I have a girl to attend to

The Original is always better But I really really like LOK...it's an "almost" tie for me.

The Last Airbender was way more immersive and it also has some nostalgic effects too since I basically grew up with that show. I liked the characters more in the Last Airbender too. And although LOK was still good, it didn't have the same feel.

I love Legend of Korra, but The Last Airbender is simply perfection.

The Last Airbender is tons better than Legend of Korra. While LoK was good it started to suck at season 2.

I did enjoy The Last Airbender more, but The Legend of Korra is still great to me. I agree with most of your points, but I don't see modernization as an issue.

Hmmmmm, I don't know if I could pick one over the other very easily.

 

I feel that The Last Airbender had better characters, better romance(Honestly I felt the romance was the worst part in Korra), and an overall more general and consistent interest in it's story considering I found the second season of Korra to be pretty damn boring. But I do feel that Korra has better animations, Amon was an epic villain who I preferred over the Fire Lord, and I enjoyed how they were able to take the mythology from The Last Airbender and develop and evolve it into a completely new story with a new tone.

TLA; TLOK is still good, however.

The Last Airbender had Uncle and Sokka on a normal basis- it instantly wins

They're pretty even for me. 

 

As for the differences, it taking place in one location and Korra only mastering one element were intended to create a direct contrast to TLA so that it didn't feel like the same show over again. Modernization is to be expected in a seventy year interval, just look at the past seventy years here on Earth. And remember, Korra was only supposed to get one season, and that was only because fans of the original were clamoring for more. However, it was popular enough to warrant three additional seasons. In addition, each season of LoK is only 13 episodes, like many anime,(save the big three and Shonen genres) while TLA had 20 each season. That's why the show feels rushed. 

 

As for LoK itself, I actually prefer Spirits to Air. While the first half of season 2 was slow, I loved getting to see the origin of the Avatar cycle as well as witness both the end of the current cycle, and the beginning of a new one.

Avatar the last Airbender is amazing and is the best in my eyes. I do appreciate what they are going for in LoK and I like for what it is, and plus the main avatar is a female so that's plus more points lol.... But I do not think it's no where near as good as the The Last Airbender, the 2nd season is a bunch of heaps better though.

Gotta give it too TLA.

 

The characters are much better, I will never love any of the LoK cast as much as any one of Aang and the gaang. Azula is my favorite tv villain ever so that really helps shift the balance. Honestly did not care for Amon at all and thought the twist and his backstory were both silly. The romance in TLA was better and the comic relief episodes were just too funny. The only way LoK was better for me was the pacing of the first season. First season of TLA was too slow.

Korra just doesn't have that same sense of story that the Last Airbender had. Korra's story sometimes seems rushed, while Aing's was more explored in depth.

Well one has secret tunnels and one does not so I think you know my choice

The Last Airbender was the best, but Korra is more modern.

LoK isn't anything compaired to A:, sure, the new animation is cleaner, but most of the fights just don't hold the same intensity to me and I don't like some of the consepts.

They are tied in my opinion

 

The Last air bender had better characters and a better main protagonist.

 

The Legend of Korra has a more mature story and animation.

 

The legend of korra has not ended yet so I can't really judge this fairly.

Korra is a tool.  The only good character in Legend of Korra is Asami.  Everyone else should go home or die.

 

ATLA is where it's always been.

The villains in TLOK are better (they actually have reasons to antagonize outside of conquest). But no-one in TLOK is as bad ass as Iroh, and Zuko is a great anti-hero. These two characters are the major factor which makes TLA>TLOK imo, as TLOK only has Aang's relatives in its ensemble cast. The Last Airbender as a whole is more coherent but I like that The Legend of Korra has unique seasons which tell an independent story. I've watched alot of anime which just drag on, so I appreciate Korra's shorter story arcs.

Overall I like The Last Airbender better, but judging based on seasons...

 

The first season of Korra was better than the first season of The Last Airbender and the second season of The Last Airbender was better than the second season of Korra (it wasn't that good to be honest, especially with a shitty animation studio doing half the episodes). 

 

The Third Season of The Last Airbender was perfect and I highly doubt Korra will be able to come close. 

 

Character wise, the only good main character is Asami, everyone else is an ass.

 

Amon is one of the best villains in history. Especially being voiced by Steve Blum and having a complex backstory, as well as being right about everything (come on, benders always pick on non benders). 

 

What I want in all honesty is an entire season about Avatar Wan.

I've just finished watching the last season of Avatar TLA 

 

And let me tell ya,it's thousands times better than the Legend of Korra

 

don't get me wrong I like both The Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra,but the Last Airbender(not the movie,that movie is shit) was so incredibly amazing and it did so many things that The Legend of Korra couldn't do

 

I liked the feeling of progression with Aang and how he struggled to learn all the elements unlike Korra who just magically happened to know how to use them even before training

 

I love the character development in TLA more than The Legend of Korra,especially when it comes to characters like Prince Zoko

 

Also,TLA has a much...much...MUCH better comedy than The Legend of Korra,I can't get enough of Saka's actions and I loved how funny Aang himself was...it always put a smile on my face and I'm sure as hell love Tuff(I hope this is the right pronounciation)

 

And I also like the variety of locations in TLA,one of my biggest problems in the Legend of Korra is that 90% of the events happens either in Republic City or Water Tribe with a little bit of Temple visits with Tenzen 

 

in TLA however,you travel around the world visiting every nation starting from the southern water tribe all the way to the Fire nation

 

Lastly,Aang is a MUCH MUCH better Avatar than Korra,both in terms of personality and character

 

Aang,even though he's the avatar,still acts like any kid of his age,sure he has supernatural powers since he's the avatar but I can relate more to him

 

I love how energetic,funny and social Aang was and that's a huge plus in my book

 

Korra on the other hand,while I like Korra and her adventures,sometimes she can be your regular stereotypical girl that got super powers that's been in every single heroes cartoon

 

Sometimes she can be either a total bitch to people like Tenzen and her dad,and other times she can't stop bragging about how she is the avatar and how she wants to do whatever she wants which backfires on her face almost everytime(a.k.a believing the obviously evil Onolok)

 

Sure Aang has his own mistakes,but in the long run he tried to address it and became a better avatar while Korra sometimes repeat the same mistakes and by the time she tries to address it it's a little too late which gets to pointless problems that gets an entire chapter to resolve(like how she and Mako broke up until Onolok died and THEN they fell in love again)

 

 

Finally,Aang and Kitara had a much better romance than Korra and Mako

 

Again,don't get me wrong I love both Avatar The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra and I had tons of fun watching both

 

But Avatar The Last Airbender has much better characters and better story overall

Airbender. More character development and episodes, plus i think the plot's alot better honestly. It felt more like an adventure than Legend of Korra does, although the recent arc i felt was really good, so its getting better, but it hasnt surpassed TLA yet. Not for me.
