The older I get, the less I game. it is a obvious fact but I didn't think that it was true. it is either the fact I don't have the time or the desire to game at times

its like all I want to do is get school work done so I can have a better paying job or work, so I can make some $$$.

am I the only one who feels like this? being 18 does not mean I am going to have a stick up my butt and acting like a self- righteous ass but I feel this weird urge to get things done and not play around that much anymore. I am going to game as long as possible but I know their will come a time when I will have to stop gaming due to school, work, or raising a future family.

Do you guys find it hard to still game now that you are adult or is it no problem for you? let me know what you think.

This is a pretty interesting topic, and I thank you for making it.  I am currently 18 and I wake up at 5:00am to go to take the bus to college, I study from 8:00am to 2:00pm, and I arrive home at 3:30pm because of the route that the bus driver takes.  After that, I eat dinner and then I sit on the couch and play with my PS3 or other gaming devices.  As long as I have at least 30 minutes to play a game, I'm good, and if I'm not, then I'll just wait for the next day.

What you say about getting work done to have enough money to pay for bills and raising a family is a good point.  But, you don't necessarily have to sacrifice your gaming habits forever.  If you want, you can coordinate when's the best time to play games, and when you have a family, you could even arrange for a family night of video games, where all of you can play family friendly games, or if it's just you and your wife, you can get the low down on the Call of Duty's and Kingdom Hearts's and the more adult games of the video game world.  My main point here is that as long as you have balance, you can at least spare a tiny bit of time for your hobby.

I hope things go well for you man, from one adult gamer to another, I hope that you can be able to always love your hobby and never let go of it.  Because when you have your kids, you can pass down your experiences to them, and you'll feel great for doing so.  Again, thanks for making such an interesting topic. :)

IGN recently posted a video about gaming when you're older.

yea finding a balance is the key. But in the future when I am in my 30s and 40s I don't know how I will do it. Kids are a handful and they need constant attention. For example they are at least 2 days out of the week where I watch my niece who is 11 months old. I spend half of my day just watching her. I can't even imagine how this will be like when I have my own kids with a full time job. In the future I will be lucky to get 30 minutes out for gaming.

Then my future wife is going to be like " you don't take me out anymore, all you do is play games" lol

I already seen that video Sora96 most of it is bull, with some funny facts.

Yes and no.  Although school keeps me from playing any time intensive game, I sometimes take my 3DS and play Pokemon while I'm eating or waiting for class to start.  But I do agree that It's more important to get school work done.

Fool. I do play less. but I don't enjoy it less. It's become more of a social thing for me now though. I much rather play with other people around now, instead of just by myself.

Lightchaser- we have us a funny girl here lol

You and Flaming Lea have the best sense of humor on this site ( at least out of the ladies)

......I think that urge waved at me and passed me by o-o I've been gaming a lot more as I got older, especially within the past year. It's probably because I never really played much in the way of video games until later in my high school years.

I'm older than you, and game more than you do!

I'll have college in a few months, but all afternoon or evening classes, so I'll have time before and after class to game.

And FAMILY? WTF? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too early for that nonsense.

This thread's way to serious for its own good, in my opinion.

Just take it as it comes, game if you want, or don't, and quit worrying.

Pretty much the only time I play games during school season is on a handheld while waiting for classes to start since I'm usually one of the first people there and it just feels awkward not doing anything. With that said, when I get home, I'm just too tired to turn on a console and play games. lol

Not that I'm actually an adult, but I'll answer anyway:

I think I actually game more as I get older. I don't spend the same time playing outside like I used to, so now I spend that time gaming. I'm sure that'll change when I go to college, but for now, it actually causes me to game more.

You can make time for anything, although the amount of time you have or don't have may influence what kind of games you'd play.  For instance, being too busy might not coincide with the time required to get the most out of, say, an MMO.  My own gaming come in spurts with long gaps in between, and it's usually on handhelds because I'm too busy/lazy/mobile for consoles nowadays.  I haven't picked up any of my gaming devices in months.  It's not that I can't make time for them, I just feel like doing other things, not all of it related to school or work or whatever.
