It has been really bugging me lately, how did Lea and Isa become nobodies? We already know that it happened in Ansems lab on Radiant Garden, since that's where Lea woke up after being recompleted, but what exactly happened? Its also weird that he is wearing an organization coat when he wakes up, I wonder if there is a connection between that.

They volunteered for an experiment.

Or maybe the Designers didn't have a new outfit for Lea at that time, and are saving it for KH3?

hopefully he gets a new outfit for KH3, maybe he was testing the organizations coats, since they're supposed to protect you while traveling through darkness, and something went wrong and his heart was swallowed by darkness.

Based on the fact that Lea and Isa were seen frequently sneaking into Ansems Castle combined with the fact that Lea and presumably Isa were ressurected in their Organization attire I think it's a safe conclusion that they were one of the victims of the Apprentices experiments on the heart. Especially considering they would have been looking for those who would likely produce humanoid nobodies. If this is indeed the case they knew that future canidates would need the coat they would have provided the coats prior to seperating the heart and the body.Though it has never been out right said but it is implied that is what happened.

I'm pretty sure they didn't volunteer to have their hearts severed from their bodies when as nobodies they adamantly fought to get them back.

One could guess based on what we do know that maybe they got caught up in the experiments and the apprentices put the cloak on him beforehand bc they knew he would need it .They could've been kidnapped and forced after maybe trying to sneak into the castle again like they did in BBS.Whatever happened , it certainly sparked their hidden plan of rebellion against Xemnas

Far as I knew they either volunteered or infiltrated and got captured.  From their willingness or personality I would assume they were caught and Lea refused, and Isa willingly accepted?

But it hasn't been revealed as far as I know.  It probably would have been included in BBSV2 and thus should be included in the Kingdom Hearts movie I insist they make since they won't make any more "side" games and I need to know how Mickey got the RoDs keyblade.

There has to be a reason that that scene was in there, other than to have Ven meet them.  I'm pretty sure they were forced into it and that it has something to do with sneaking in the castle.

We will probably see what happened in KHIII . But I assume that Lea and Isa were caught up sneaking into the castle and forced into the apprentices' experiments 

They sneaked into Ansem's lab, got busted and there punishment was to be part of the experiment

Since we know the apprentices became nobodies and joined the org before Isa and Lea it stands to reason they prolly put the cloak on him already knowing he would need it before they experimented on him . One year after BbS, Xehanort as well as five other apprentices toss aside their hearts. Then the Nobody Xemnas was born, and the Organization which he creates take a lot of things from his memories as a human. But as Xemnas had two people who he was, Terra and Master Xehanort, he takes from both of their memories.

The coat used by the Organization was something that Master Xehanort originally wore.

 

We don't know what Lea is wearing under his cloak . Look at when Riku took off his cloak in KH2. It was skin tight yet he had a whole outfit underneath .Also time had passed since we saw Lea and Isa in BBS and when RG fell ( a whole year ) so they had time to grow and wear bigger clothes before that happened .

 

MX's whole plan was to get the apprentices to fall to darkness so he could then easily trick them into losing their hearts and using them as vessels as explained in detail in DDD. The same reason he needed Sora to fall to darkness before implanting him and why MX needed Terra to fall into darkness before stealing his body.Why would MX have them use the cloaks if he WANTED them to be exposed to darkness. Then after they are nobodies they needed the cloaks to protect them from being swallowed in darkness when they used the corridors and such. Nobodies are more susceptible than humans even when using them ..MX lied and manipulated the apprentices to get them to follow his plan unknowingly as also stated in DDD
