i vividly remember that it was stated that mega evolution was exclusive to kalos. i think those new forms are another form of evolution called omega evolution and alpha evolution respectivly. my guess is that every region will have some sort of special evolution.

Well they're not Kalos exclusive,all you need is a Mega ring with the corresponding Mega stone.

 

Heck Red used Mega Charizard X in Kanto during Pokemon Origins (which btw is pretty much canon at this point) so I guess in post game maybe Professor Sycamore will visit Hoenn and give you them once you beat the champion.

Hey there everyone, how's it going!?  As you all know, Nintendo announced the remakes for the Ruby and Sapphire games for the 3DS! Isn't that just the most awesome thing!?  Well, I for one, am very hyped for this game, and I just can't get enough of the trailer!  Just 32 seconds!  They could have shown a tad bit more!  Now I'm even more hyped! X_X

 

Anyways, this topic here is to discuss everything about the game, from the story, the graphics, the gameplay, anything and everything that we, the fans, are expecting for this game!  Okay, so I'll start off.  One of the things that I hope for the most is that the Pokemon Contests come back.  That was one of my favorite features of the Hoenn games, and well, it's a mode that needs to return! I also hope they add modern touches like the character customization options that opened up to us in Pokemon X and Y. I expect the graphics to be on par with X and Y, if not slightly better, and well, I expect the overall quality of the game to be amazing! But you know, Groudon and Kyogre look different!  Could it be that what we're witnessing in the covers is their Mega Evolutions?  Or something different altogether?  Anyways, discuss everything related to the new entries in the Pokemon series right here!  Enjoy the topic everyone!

I know, right?  I really hope the character customization feature stays for these games! X_X  And I wonder if it'll be a direct remake or a spiritual successor, since in the trailer it says: "Enter a dramatic new world!"  What could Nintendo have meant by that?

The design thing is just an opinion. I prefer Silver/Gold myself. However, I like this one, too. Also, it will be Hoenn. The "New world" thing was probably just to make it sound cooler. It's going to be a direct remake, meaning the same place.

I don't know if I need it to be honest..... but I guess I could be more interested with more details about this game

I wonder how the Hoenn region will look like in 3D???  Just the thought of it boggles the mind!

It looks like my theory is correct! I predicted that this would happened, after Ruby and Sapphire Remake we will get Pokemon Z or however they update the X and Y series, they did this with when Ruby, and Sapphire first came out.

 

They First released Ruby and Sapphire, then the next year the Fire Red and Leaf Green followed by Emerald. Its probably just so players don't get bored with the region as quickly.

I fully expect Swampert and Sceptile to get Megas though, since Blaziken already has one. Mega Latios and Mega Latias are practically guaranteed since their codes are already in X/Y and as for Rayquyaza, whatever makeover Kyogre and Groudon got, whether Mode Change or Digi-... I-I mean Forme or Mega Evolution, Rayquaza is sure to get the same treatment or possibly better.

That's the only way I can see it working without a massive retcon, since R/S/E oficcially takes place at the same time as R/G/B/Y. Though Mega Stones did come into existence 3,000 years before X/Y it's only recently that their power has been able to be harnessed. By having it happen post- game, they can say that Brandon/May was one of the first people to get a Mega Stone to react without having to shoehorn in some side story during the main plot.

 

 

So do you think it will be like Emerald where both Aqua and Magma are the villains, or will it be like the original Ruby and Sapphire where one is good and the other evil depending on the version? Personally, I hope it's the former since I never got a chance to play Emerald. I know that usually these remakes follow the third entry in their original generation, but this is till the only generation where there are two villainous groups.

Watch Pokemon Origins. Red harnessed the power of his mega ring to make Charizard evolve into Mega Charizard X during his fight with Mewtwo. I'm sure mega evolutions will be available in the new ruby and sapphire remakes
