The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted August 23, 2014 Hey there everyone, how's it going? Well then, I was thinking about this for a while now, and I think now is the time for me to make a post discussing this. Before I begin, I want to state that this is just my opinion, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and I don't want to start any argument with anyone here, so please bear with me, okay? Now then, let me begin. You see, a lot of people tend to judge others for their beliefs. For example, closed minded Christian people judge those who don't believe in God and think they are people that don't know what they're doing. I for one, disagree with this statement. I believe in God with all my heart and soul and truly believe that Jesus Christ is our lord and savior, but that doesn't mean that I have to be stuffing religion down people's throats. If you don't believe in God, then who am I to judge your perspective? I may believe in God, but I'm not an overly religious person. Let me explain. The thing is, I'm not the type of person that goes to church. Don't get me wrong, I always thank God for the life I've been given and for everything I have, and I always pray for the safety of my family, friends, and my dear Inori, and I strongly believe in God, but I'm not really drawn into church, for the sole reason that all the different religions are always at war with each other, and they're talking about God, yet arguing among themselves. If religion is supposed to be something that gives you peace and calm of mind, then why does there have to be so much arguments? I say to you, if you don't believe in God and you believe in other things, then why do I have to force you to believe in God? It's your choice, and your choice alone. I don't determine how people live their life, and it's not my place. I have atheist friends, and do you think I care what people think of that? I make friends with people who I form a bond with, I don't look at religious background or anything of the sort! In other words, what I'm saying is, never judge a person's beliefs. Just keep believing in what you believe in, and let your friends believe what they want to believe. It's as simple as that! Oh, and on a final note, I think that my road to salvation is by giving people advice and being a good person, and always caring for my friends, family, and true love. As long as I do these things, and as long as I pray and have God in my thoughts, I believe that's my gateway to God. I don't have to go to church to believe in him. At least, that's what I believe in. Anyways, that's my rant. Feel free to express your opinion on this, but as I mentioned before, please, I don't want this to become a war over religion or anything of the sort. This is simply some thoughtful analysis, nothing more. Thank you for taking the time to read this! 14 OmegaForte, Yuya Sakaki, LeYenrz and 11 others reacted to this

Yuya Sakaki 5,212 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) If religion is supposed to be something that gives you peace and calm of mind, then why does there have to be so much arguments? Religion is about peace of the self, but if one fails that how can they be at peace with the rest of the world? Peace! Dracozombie 4,554 Posted August 23, 2014 Religion never played a big enough part in my life for me to judge someone by whether or not they believe in it. I don't have any overwhelmingly positive or negative .experiences with it, and I just try to avoid the topics I know we won't see eye-to-eye on. I'm an atheist but I don't feel the need to tell people what they shouldn't believe in (unlike some atheists out there--you know who you are), nor do I feel the need to actively prove my case. Religion doesn't bring me comfort but I respect that it can bring comfort for other people. Well, I do get annoyed at the folks who wave around picket signs about why certain people are going to hell, but they're not the majority. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

Ultima Spark 753 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) I'll judge you if those beliefs bring harm to other people. And let's be honest, with what's been happening in the world lately, my personal tolerance level is dropping really, really fast. Ceriraye 485 Posted August 23, 2014 pretty much what others said. believe in what you want you want, as long as you're not being an ass to others who don't see eye to eye with you. well except people who believe being racist, homophobic and whatnot is ok. i will always hate those people. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

littleTSUBAME 483 Posted August 23, 2014 Say what you will, people who believe in racism and Nazism will never be okay with me As long as they don't hurt anyone based on their beliefs, it's okay with me. I dislike their ideas, but I try to avoid judging them as people based solely on that. Doesn't necessarily mean I'd be friends with them, but I try to accept them. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
King_Graham 135 Posted August 23, 2014 It's less about judging and more about ridiculing or stating propaganda. Ignorant people will often be stubborn, but that does not mean that one should not try to show them the error of their ways in a manner not condescending or insulting to them. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Tigerruss 576 Posted August 23, 2014 I find it ironic you can't say "You shouldn't judge people's beliefs" without judging people's beliefs. After all some people believe that others should be judged by their beliefs. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted August 24, 2014 You all pose very interesting points of view, and I thank you all very much for not making this topic go haywire and ending up in arguments! And I agree that racism, Nazism, homophobia, and other kinds of harmful beliefs are not good at all. It's interesting to see how different people have such different views on life. It's all a very interesting thing to think about. 1 King_Graham reacted to this
