  • Why don't you want my money Nintendo?

  • Lol Xenoblade is not a new game....you're a bit behind buddy   the game came 2012 on the Wii and this is just a handheld remake for it   And if the new model is coming here....I have no problem si

  • But he didn't say Xenoblade was a new game? He said it was being remade for the 3DS then referred to it as Xenoblade 3DS.   Also, Xenoblade Chronicles came out in 2010 in Japan.

So does that mean the 3DS is completely outdated when this model hits the shelves and there are just games for the "new" model...?If yes this sucks!  >:(  I don't have money for a new 3DS and i was saving for more than a year for a 3DS capture card but i can forget that right now because with this the 3DS is outdated as far as i understand that. Correct me if i am wrong (i want to be wrong in this case)  : Also how is this working with the compatibility with the new c-stick and the extra buttons?

oh ok. i panicked for a second there

Actually it's only for select future titles, but you won't know until they're announced. So for example Nintendo could announce a game at their next Nintendo Direct and say oh sorry it requires better hardware, so it'll only run on the new models, sorry.

Lol. You guys are shocked? Remember how we needed to buy expansion packs for the 64? Or classic controllers for the Wii? Or the upcoming wiiu GameCube controller adapter? Nintendo loves to make us buy extra shit to keep playing their games (circle pad pro!) Now they want us to get new 3DS' not that big of a surprise. Just like when they went from Gameboy Advance to SP.

I don't think any of them required that hardware to play certain games though.

No, only some games, the first being Xenoblade Chronicles, which is just a port from the Wii to 3DS. The reason being that games such as Xenoblade Chronicles are so massive, a regular 3DS doesn't have the power to withstand it. The new models, however, can withstand this as the have upgraded hardware. No the 3DS is not outdated. The C-stick gets rid of the means to purchase/use the C-stick accessory (which never really took off in the market anyway). The ZL/ZR buttons basically put it on par with a Wii U control scheme. Not gonna get my hopes up, but this may be another feature with the new models where a 3DS can become a compatible controller for some Wii U games such as Mario Kart 8 and the new Smash bros. Most of the English speaking market won't have this understanding yet because the information is in Japanese, but most news sites have translations.

I don't think any of them required that hardware to play certain games though.

True, except for maybe the circlepad, kinda. But still feels like Nintendo's " We'll finish it later, charge em $20 again" attitude.

Circle Pad was just to improve controls on certain games. Can play them perfectly fine without it.

and I'm talking through several websites/social media, is giving the whole "take my money" response.

That's loaded with the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Well it's a good thing that I still have my original Wii copy. I really don't have to worry about buying the new 3DS now since I'm sure a lot of people will purchase it on day 1. Also Mr. 96, this game isn't technically new. It's just a port of a Nintendo Wii game that came out on June 10. 2010 in Japan,  August 19, 2011 in Europe, and April 6, 2012 in America. Also, even though it sucks that this is exclusive to the new 3DS model this can also be a great way for people who haven't played this amazing game to finally pick it up since it's a very rare game to find in stores.

Resident Evil Revelations. Is unplayable without circlepad, IMO. Well this is more like Crystal Chronicles anyways. If you wanted play, multiplayer at least, You had to buy a gameboy advance.

They will do this for more than just this game. No way they're doing all this just for a port.

Unfortunately, the comments I'm seeing are people expressing they'll be paying for the new model and this game. I haven't seen a negative one yet. Also, this is in the article:

The remake is something they’ve previously wanted to do for the Nintendo 3DS, but were not able to due to its lack of CPU power, but now that it’s getting a boost with the newer version, it has been made possible.

I'm aware of that. After all, this isn't the first time Nintendo has done somethung like this. I'm just pointing out that I won't have to buy the new 3DS anytime soon since so far the only exclusive it has atm is the 3DS port of Xenoblade Chronicles. I'm sure that since this new 3DS model has a faster CPU than I'm sure that this brings out new possibilities for Nintendo to make newer games exclusive to the new system. And I'm fine with that since I can easily buy thus new system at any time I wish.

I dont know why, but somehow this pisses me off.
I really would like to play this game too, since I didn't get the chance on the Wii, but they are kinda forcing us to buy the new model.
There is also the possibility that Nintendo and maybe the 3rd party companies will make games for "New 3DS" only, cause of CPU power. Like the next gen. Pokemon(insert letter, color, metal, jewel here). I doubt it will happen, but still...

I'm asking myself right now: "Why the firetruck did I buy a 3DS XL then?"

"These will not be playable on the old 3DS models"

yeah, firetruck this

I understand the hardware limitations the original 3DS may have, but these "exclusive titles to New 3DS" could be a kick in OG 3Ds owners' asses.

It's going to cause a market split that will bite Nintendo in the ass in the long term. Having to explain to mom and little Timmy why there's a whole line of new games that won't work on the 2DS she got him only a few months ago is really going to put off customers.

I got my 3DS for less than a year and now Nintendo demands me to change it?
yeah, not gonna happen.

Woah woah, I'm going to HAVE to upgrade? What in the firetruck.

Fair enough. I personally have no interest in purchasing this title either, I just worry that there might one day be a game that I want to play and it's exclusive to the new model and I don't want to pay $250 for one game.

Some of the comments act a bit out of hand though. Like the idea that Nintendo is demanding the change, or the fact they read about it as far as new model, game is exclusive so they've no understanding of why any of it is happening.

True, though the Vita alone had that problem.

What about the Vita? Are you referring to there being only one game you want on it?

I dont really wanna upgrade/want to have to, but if new games are coming out on this new one I may not have a choice :-/

Don't tell me I have to buy this 3DS to play the future games!  :O

http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=884846 and there we go. It's confirmed that new titles in the future will be exclusive to the new model. Now I just hope they're all games I have no interest in.

Wait.. So it's actually going to be called the "New 3DS"?http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2014/08/29/nintendo-debuts-new-3ds-named-new-3ds/...Wow, that's dumb. I hope they change the name. It has happened before, remember when the GameCube was called the "Dolphin"? Haha.

Yep. Lol. I think Dolphin was the project name.

What about the Vita? Are you referring to there being only one game you want on it?

That's usually the case. Most of the people I've ever talked to about it are only interested in one game.  Of course, now there's two Gravity Rush titles, Uncharted, Freedom Wars, and a few NIS games that make up a great library of games. Not saying it's extremely common, but there was a time even Vita owners didn't want a Vita.

Yeah, the only game exclusive to Vita I'd play is Uncharted, but since it's not developed by Naughty Dog I can get over it.

Oh believe me I understand where you're coming from lol. But I can definitely see myself buying this new 3DS since I've been wanting to upgrade my original 3DS model (thank goodness I didn't buy the 3DS XL or 2DS). Though right now buying the PS4 is a bigger priority for me to save for.

Yeah, I'm saving up for a PS4 as well. I'll probably end up getting an Uncharted 4 or even FFXV bundle.

Aaaand I'm sold on this new 3DS. Xenoblade is one of the best games I've ever played, and I'd love to play it on the go. I've been thinking about upgrading, anyway. Also, with the second Circle Pad, I can finally play Kid Icarus!

Here's a graphics comparison between the Wii and New 3DS version of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Wow, not really much of an improvement on the models. I know that this is just a port but I was kinda hoping that they'd at least update the models a bit.

You don't have to,it's just for very few selective games

They're idolizing the new 3DS over the Wii U.

How?It's only a new model, where did you get the idea from?

Also,3DS is their best selling system right now so of course they want it to sell more
