The only FF game I've ever completed was XIII-2(Xbox 360)

 

That's about it. I'm currently working on FF IV but haven't made much progress since I started. I also have XII but just never got around to hooking my PS2 back up, so chances of completing that anytime soon are slim too.

There's a second chance to get it in another chest, but it has a 1 in 1000 chance of giving you the spear, in case you'd be willing to go that far

Just throwing it out there, but if you've played even a little bit of VIII again and are willing to give it a second shot, you've got guts. I can't imagine ever putting that game in my PS2 again, aside from testing to make sure it works before I sell my copy.
