Nintendo of America has announced that they’re looking for a lead graphic engineer for their next video game console. The job description reads, Nintendo Technology Development is looking for a lead graphics architect in the system-on-chip architecture group in Redmond, WA. The group is responsible for the architecture of Nintendo’s game console SoCs. The graphics architect plays a key role in determining the SoC architecture.

Wonder what their next handheld/home console will be in the coming years once the WiiU and 3DS stops being produced. I hope it'll be something that'll really blow us all away.

We knew they'd make one, this isn't really worth getting excited over yet. Let's enjoy the Wii U, not think about what we'll get next instead,

Well that's to be expected since the Wii U and 3DS are recent Nintendo consoles. And besides, it takes years for a company to make a video game console.

Yea won't be seeing another Nintendo handheld and console for another 4-7 years so its "meh" imo

 

I just got a 3DS XL for my birthday in May and I have not bought a Wii U yet so I am in no rush for 9th gen hardware yet

 

Sony and Microsoft have already started as well , as the big three do each console gen so the news is cool but not that surprising .

The newest nintendo console that they are working on now I'm not even worried about because the game that i'm waiting for on the wii u(Zelda U) isn't even out yet so I really don't really care about the console for now. 

i seriously hope nintendo doesent reveal this console (in a mainstream way like e3) for AT LEAST 3 years. i LOVE nintendo but im seriously against them releasing another console this soon. i REALLY hope we get at least 3 more years with nintendo focusing on the wii u as their primary home console. thats just my humble opinion. pls feel free to reply with yours. does anyone else agree with my opinion?

I do because just like in my previous post I'm still waiting for zelda u to come out so I don't really want them to say a word about it yet and try to put a lot more games on it that people have been probably waiting for many years.

and i know someone who REALLY doesent get video games often at all (because his dad hates them) and also recieved very steady allowence and he spent his hard earned money and convincing of his dad on a wii u because he thought that it would last him many years. i got a wii u about a month earlier but i got it a lot more easily. even before he got it we talked about how we thought it was a bad idea to scram the wii u even within the next 3-4 years. he argued 5-6 but i find that unlikely and unrealistic. id be happy with 3-4 years more considering i just got one.

Hey Humble opinions are my thing!

Woah, Nintendo is making a new console!? That's compltely unprecedented!

Next you'll be telling me that Microsoft is looking in to making another console! and Sony too!

I gotta wait for this console to come out to get excited for anything Nintendo. 

It will be called the Nintendo Wii U NeXt and will have everything the Wii U has, but with even better graphics, more controllers, and be able to link with Virtual Reality.

I know people loooooves to jump into conclusion with this and say that they would scrap the Wii U next year but that won't happen

 

It's normal for game companies to hire new employees and developers to plan their upcoming console while they're selling their current one

 

So this supposed new console is not even confirmed at this point and heck I doubt it'll be announced up until the very end or mid of 2017

Okay, seriously, Nintendo really needs to take things slow and let their consoles live their life cycles.  The Wii U is just now starting to get some steam from titles such as Hyrule Warriors and highly anticipated titles like Smash Bros. Wii U, so instead of already thinking about their next console, they should devote their resources to make their current consoles even better!  The 3DS is seeing a great deal of great titles, so they should focus on the 3DS and Wii U for at least five more years, and then they can get to work on their next console.

Although, I believe they should focus on their next handheld. Chances are their next home console will sell less than 50 million units again.
