Is 2.5 gonna be censored like KH2?

Posted

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts II was censored for stupid and silly reasons.

The Hyrdra's green blood was replaced by smoke;

Guns of the Pirates were replaced by crossbows and some of their bones and flesh changed;

Xigbar's sniper and crosshair were replayed to make it more "friendly";

Axel's death was less flamey and intense - kinda makes him look weaker,

etc...

Just look carefully: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS0914HLMGHayXCwYFrhAgCtINkjin5sEtCZfsiF0IIpJohSHlJ

I know it's a Disney game and all, but... aren't Disney movies themselves a bit more darker? The Hydra bleeds a lot. There's death in many disney movies, and I've played game for 6+ and 12+ with blood. Tomb Raider AOD has blood, guns, puzzles, etc...

I hope they don't mess it up for 2.5

Also,

Ahem.

Just do add something.

KH3D wasn't censored. Braig still uses his sniper and the original KH2's japanese crosshair.

Well nothing changed any of that in 2.5

YES! EXACTLY! Disney movies such as Snow White and Peter Pan are INDEED a lot darker. I don't know why Kingdom Hearts is so light if even the original movies were not.

Also, Kingdom Heart's storyline can be a bit dark, especially Chain of Memories and BBS.

Kairi's panties changd.

Also, that didnt' change because its still japanese. It might well change when it comes to US, EU and AUS.

And that's why those two are my favorite games story-wise.

I've always failed to understand the obsession with trying to censor everything and make it "safe for kids". Even Disney doesn't try that hard. You're ruining what could have been some great scenes because you're scared some kid is going to go insane or something

I still think it's something to do with the name association with Disney, along with a combination of other factors such as the monitoring of what can be put into games.Also, I think removing the Hydra's blood was stupid, but playing Xigbar's advocate here, it isn't a movie, to be fair. The kids who may be playing aren't just watching some guy cut off Hydra heads and making him bleed. THEY are themselves basically making the creature bleed.

If they want to avoid a T for Teen rating, they'll probably have to censor it again, yeah

Yeah, the censorship is really weird.

A pistol is naughty naughty, but a shotgun for Clayton, ACES!!!

it's because a shotgun makes a big explosion while a pistol is a more piercing type of weapon. Expos-ions are viewed as more kid friendly. Though the thing to remember is that KH1 doesn't have any blood. If KH2 had all the blood from Pirates of the Caribbean and Hydra, plus the other censored stuff, they'd probably lose their E10 rating

I think they're probably going to keep the Final Mix version intact (save for the panties). Unless they're going to take the time and effort to fix the few glitches that are present in 2.5's Japanese version, I doubt they're going to take any time and effort to censor all that other stuff out of the Final Mix version of KH2. Besides, Maleficent already said the word "Hell" just like she did in the original movie, and "Hell" used to be a big no-no in lots of "kid-friendly" things, especially later animated Disney works.

But if they do go to all that trouble to censor everything again without even bothering to fix all of those other glitches, I'm going to be seriously ticked off.  >:(

again

these things are cumulative

you get get away with guns, or a little blood, or a little swearing (especially if it's the biblical form of Hell) but if you go over a certain quota you get a higher rating. They don't want a T

well in the original Final Mix they changed some of the censors back to how it was in the original Japaneses version of the game and in the Japaneses version of 2.5 the Hydra gives off black smoke still which I'm ok with that but other then that I think everything is back to how it originally was in the first Final Mix I hope they just add the English translations and change nothing else when they bring it over seas but I guess if they do change it to how it was I wouldn't be that upset but still they shouldn't have to censor it at all

As much as I can argue that Kingdom Hearts is as light as you can get compared to other Disney products, the fact remains that this "unwatchable content" is still part of the original game's core, as in the Japanese version, so it should remain as it is.

Besides: Both Disney and Square Enix should be smart enough to know that most of the people who are even buying these collections are people who played the original game way back when it first came out on the PS2. Most of us are grown ass adults, or young adults, who don't need to hide behind Mom's skirt if we see green blood gushing out of a fictional monster or a gun being pointed to somebody's chin. We're big boys and girls now.

I played Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix a lot has a kid... with the Hydra's blood and all of that. And to be honest, it never BOTHERED me. It never bothered anyone that I'm aware off.

Also, waht's wrong of putting KH to T for Teen? It's not like parents will be that DUMB to force their kids not to play it...

Problem: ESRB already gave it an E10+ rating.

Not sure what you're getting at

Your wording for your last statement made it seem that you didn't know that the ESRB already rated it.

I'm pointing out that KH2.5 might be recensored because of how ratings work, and explained thme in the context of KH2 vanilla

Ah. I dun think we got censorship this time. The ESRB has been going pretty light on us lately. I mean, there're more than a few games out there within the recent year that are definitely rated lower than they should be. I mean, Destiny was rated T even. You'd think that it wouldn't be.

It's a specific quota. If you have x amount of red blood, x number of swear words, and so on

I hope it's not: I know that disney has let a few darker tones get by (i'm looking at you, Tarzan, you body and blood showing childhood wrecker), so censoring it in KH is kinda dumb.

Disney can get away with that in movies

not so much in video games

games have a much more strict guidlines for their ratings
