June 9, 201510 yr Maybe it was because of the stuff that happened in Re:Coded? Idk, stuff doesn't make sense anymore.
June 9, 201510 yr So are they ever going to explain why Pete and Maleficent can show up in Disney Castle whenever they want now? Good question....why can they enter Disney Castle now? I never gave that some thought. Probably has something to do with them getting with paws on the book of prophecy or something along the lines. The plot of Kingdom Hearts has become pretty farfetched
June 9, 201510 yr Popular Post Their experience in the Date Escape taught them how to overcome the Cornerstone of Light, and Maleficent used that knowledge to try and steal the Date Escape by directly telling one of her most dangerous adversaries where she is and what she's doing. (At some point, we're going to have to accept that DDD doesn't make sense on any level and just move on with our lives.)
June 9, 201510 yr Because Xehanort's impending return strengthened the darkness enough to produce many effects, such as weakening the Cornerstone's protection. Yen Sid said as much in KH3D, how do people miss it? Yen Sid: The timing is too perfect, too calculated. Maleficent must sense a change in the forces of darkness. A change...like Xehanort.

You'll have to forgive people for not catching such subtle plot points as "Xehanort exists, therefore old rules no longer apply". I stand by my previous not-making-sense-on-any-level statement.

That might explain it in DDD, but it doesn't really explain Re:Coded Because Xehanort's impending return strengthened the darkness enough to produce many effects, such as weakening the Cornerstone's protection. It's never said that Xehanort existing actively strengthens darkness or anything though, if anything that phrasing just suggests that beings of darkness will grow more bold now that they sense Xehanort You'll have to forgive people for not catching such subtle plot points as "Xehanort exists, therefore old rules no longer apply". I stand by my previous not-making-sense-on-any-level statement. to be fair, the rules not applying to him (or rather, he makes up new rules that break the old rules) has always been Xehanort's thing I mean people call Xion a mary sue, but compared to Xehanort...
June 9, 201510 yr That might explain it in DDD, but it doesn't really explain Re:Coded I'd always assumed that Pete got there manually (maybe he used his old Captain Dark go-kart; if things like pirate ships and space cruisers have no problem going through the Lanes Between, why not a tiny car?) and all seven total people who live in Disney Castle were all distracted at the time and just didn't notice. Yeah, they can't use dark portals to get in, but who's to stop them from just opening the front door? Then when Pete enters the Datascape, he calls Maleficent, and since there's no digitized Cornerstone, she can dark portal her way in no prob.
June 10, 201510 yr The KH Wiki suggests its power weakened at some point, I assume by Xehanort doing his Xehanort-type darky stuff. It makes things fit better than the real answer, that being the writers probably forgetting the Cornerstone exists, so I'll just go by that and call it a day instead of breaking my brain over all the inconsistencies.

KHWiki wrote a fanfic then, because the Cornerstone hasn't been mentioned since KH2
June 10, 201510 yr KHWiki wrote a fanfic then, because the Cornerstone hasn't been mentioned since KH2 Hey, if the fanfic thought of a decent explanation, then fanfics ahoy! I'll take it over the non-explanation the actual games give. Edited June 10, 201510 yr by Dracozombie
June 10, 201510 yr That just begs the question, why did they have to use time travel in the first place? Why couldn't Pete just sneak in like normal? They didn't have to, the gods of the KH universe just decided to take pity on the abused Pete and grant him a magic time door to a better time in his life, and Maleficent decided to try and get clever with it and change history. As far as we know, they weren't planning to take Disney Castle before that, so they just jumped at the opportunity back in KH2. Pete probably could have snuck in wherever, he just didn't know where the Cornerstone was (and Maleficent would never accept any form of travel less that dark green flame portals, and that's a no-go). KHWiki wrote a fanfic then, because the Cornerstone hasn't been mentioned since KH2 To be fair, Nomura's official explanations read like fanfics anyway.
June 11, 201510 yr (At some point, we're going to have to accept that DDD doesn't make sense on any level and just move on with our lives.) The only part that really gets me in DDD is how Sora and Riku were able to time-travel back to Destiny Islands. Every explanation I've heard doesn't really make any sense to me so I'm just kind of stuck on 'Yen Sid set them back to zero, so maybe that's another way to time-travel people back, too) After thinking about it for months, everything else has sort of clicked for me, but that still bugs me. Well according to the KH rules and laws of time travel you need a version of yourself to travel to that time. Sora and Riku both had a version and so did Xehanort (that robed guy) so they could time travel back to the past. They probably used the Keyblade magiks to time travel and I reckon Xehanort did the same. I was making up this explanation as I went along ahah

I was making up this explanation as I went along ahah Yeah, but it was never explained how Yen Sid knew this power because it's established that you can only time-travel if you've lost your body, which Ansem SoD did, then gave that power to YOUNG Xehanort. I mean, did Yen Sid lose his body at some point and never told anybody or is he just such a powerful sorcerer that he can just do that crap? The RULES of the travel make sense, but HOW Yen Sid traveled them back is left totally unexplained. And given that Sora and Riku retain their younger forms even when they leave the Dream worlds and come back to reality, (along with Sora & Riku's general lack of a reaction to their younger forms and more to their new clothes in Traverse Town) I have to assume that he changed them while they were still at his tower. I feel like there's a scene that was cut SHOWING Yen Sid reverting them to their younger forms and sending them back in time and we just never got to see it.

I feel like there's a scene that was cut SHOWING Yen Sid reverting them to their younger forms and sending them back in time and we just never got to see it. What you said makes more sense than the actual game. I didn't give the fact that Riku and Sora were still young when they in reality. O_O Not to mention how trippy I felt seeing older Sora in the cutscene and then playing as younger Sora. But when Sora goes back to the dream world at the end, he isn't young. What the heck is even going on at this point? Maybe Sora and Riku both lost their bodies and that the current Sora and Riku are actually their version from the past Yeah, I don't think this stuff is going to get explained in KH3 either, there are already so many plots to cover.
June 11, 201510 yr But when Sora goes back to the dream world at the end, he isn't young. What the heck is even going on at this point? This is why I think that Yen Sid reverted them to their younger bodies in the Tower. The only reason why they look the way they do is because they had to 'revert' to return to Destiny Islands in a manner that did not require losing one's body. But entering the Dream Worlds themselves don't necessarily require having to be younger, because yeah, Sora enters it at the very end in his current form.
So are they ever going to explain why Pete and Maleficent can show up in Disney Castle whenever they want now?
