A little disappointing we didn't get a confirmation on party size

Posted

Like will the base party be 4 members instead of 3.

I vaguely remember seeing this somewhere but i don't think it was ever confirmed.I'm just going to assume it's 4,there's really no reason to stick to 3 now.

Especially with increase ai for the heartless having an extra ally would be helpful, also i don't like having to choose who to replace Donald or Goofy with.

Urgh.... yeah something was said about parties in an old interview... where's Flaming Lea when you need her?

I didn't know there was a chance of us getting 4 party members this time round. 3 is a perfectly fine number for me but 4 would be cool.

Um so Kh is becoming more strategic. I remember when you hit x to win. ( triangle in KH2)

If FFXV can have 4 people running around why wouldn't KH3? That way you don't have to remove one party member when going to a Disney world.

because KH is a different game? Different rendering standards and preferences. There's already issues with KH3 because it's a significantly faster and more vertical game than FFXV. But there could be other things, for example if the AI cooperates a lot like the interview said, that would take up power. Or on a more basic level, there are likely going to be more enemies onscreen in KH3

There are a tonne of potential reasons why the party might be limited, because the two games are different

Ah well, I don't mind it much anyway. Sorry Goofy, you gotta go again.

you will be able to have Disney characters joining your team across the game, not just as a temporary party member in the worlds, but also as summons.

My only problem with this is I'm wondering if this will effectively replace the more 'random' summons that we've gotten before. So, for example, we had summons like Dumbo, Bambi and Chicken Little and we never go and visit their worlds. Will having party members be summons replace those kinds of summons?

-In Kingdom Hearts I & II we were used to have a Disney character joining our party in each new world Sora and his friends visit. Will this mechanic be present in Kingdom Hearts 3?

Nomura: Right, the idea of having a Disney character joining your party was an important part of KH 1 & 2, so, yes you will be able to have Disney characters joining your team across the game, not just as a temporary party member in the worlds, but also as summons.

  • We’re interested in how the action in KHIII will have evolved.

Nomura: Right now there’s a demo version that runs on the hardware… and it’s an absolute storm (laughs). It goes even beyond ‘bold action’. In KHIII you will have a three person party, but depending on the world NPCs will also join in fighting. Basically, some very flashy action will unfold. You’ll be flying through the sky flowing through air battles without landing.

Well for me all that really seems to confirm is that we'll be able to keep the mechanic of having non-party member NPCs in battles again, like in Monstro when Riku was with you for the first Parasite Cage battle or in Olympus Coliseum when Hercules helps you fight Pete and Hades. You had 4 characters fighting the same enemy, sure, but those were special circumstances, it's not like you could make them part of your party or anything. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have 4 person parties like in Days, it never felt fair to swap Donald or Goofy out for someone else, I would love to just have everybody be there at once. But until we get a trailer that actually shows this I'm just going to assume they're talking about the same things we've seen before where you have temporary allies for certain fights while you still have to swap out characters for world specific party members.

I never gave an opinion or an explanation of what this means or confirms. I literally just posted the interview asked for lolz. Take it or leave it idc

I don't think she was giving an opinion on the matter just posted the interview that was. Not to mention it sounds like he's saying the temporary will act as summons as well. You don't really need a trailer when Nomura's words lay it out.

Thank you! Exactly! If Nomura who is director says that's what it's going to be - that's what it is...No explanation needed.

So, that means we'll have 4 instead of 3? Like, we don't have to worry about switching out either Donald or Goofy when using Disney characters?

Yeah, basically, what Flaming Lea got from Nomura's interview is what we're getting, it seems!  To me, it seems like a very exciting concept!  Just imagine the onscreen flair when an NPC ally comes to the fold to help out the party!  Gahhh, this is going to be good!!! :3

Well it was still in response to Hatok who was wondering if such a thing was addressed, so I'm just stating my thoughts on the matter and what the interview speaks to me.

I realize that, I was just stating my feelings on the matter. I'm not saying that Flaming Lea is confirming or denying anything. And for me, I REALLY need to see physical evidence to back up whatever Nomura is saying, because sometimes even when he's spelling things out I still feel like I miss something. That guy can just be so cryptic to me sometimes. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. :P

Donald and Goofy are good enough .

This is confusing to me. Does Nomura mean that the party is the same number of NPC's (2: Dolan and Gooby) or 3 NPC's (3: Dolan, Gooby and Disney Party Member). Because quite a lot of world open the possibility for two Disney characters. For instance, Rapunzel and Flynn can be party members for Tangled.
