While I don't want to get my hopes up, I just can't shake the feeling that we are going to get a world reveal next month. Why? Because the D23 Expo will be happening in Anaheim, California from August 14th to the 16th. Before you completely dismiss this idea, look at the evidence for it:
1. Kingdom Hearts showed up for the last American D23
Before its release for America in September, the Disney Interactive section did have a few stations set up for people to try out 1.5 for the PS3. It was a small set up, but to be fair it was a small-ish game. Disney still made the effort to showcase it, which leads to the next point...
2. Disney is batting for Team KH now
Let's see: Disney Interactive Co-President John Pleasants was present during KH3's official announcement at E3 2013, two important people (Greg Coleman & Roy Conli) from Disney Animation Studios promoted KH3 at the most recent E3, Disney held launch parties for simple HD collections on their own properties (Downtown Disney and the Disney Studio lot), and Disney gave precious stage time to the KH series during the first ever D23 Japan Expo, and will be holding a Fan Event during the next one in November. We haven't seen Disney be this supportive of KH since KH2's release, so it wouldn't be far fetched to think they'd have something special for KH this August because....
3. Disney wants EVERYONE at their party
Just look at Comic Con this year. Marvel isn't even showing up and Star Wars won't be revealing a trailer. If Marvel wanted to, they could EASILY have shown a teaser for Captain America 3 and at least some of the final concept art for Doctor Strange. I mention this because, when Disney is controlling the reigns, they want all the good stuff for their convention. Instead of a world reveal being "wasted" on a random magazine interview or TGS, they would want to reveal it at their own party. The timing would also work because...
4. New worlds will be shown "very soon" During the "Spotlight on Kingdom Hearts" presentation at E3 2015, Nomura was asked when we would get more world information, and he replied that "he had just had a meeting with Disney about what to announce next and that he unexpectedly found out they would announce another world very very soon". It seems odd that Nomura would be surprised about releasing new KH information at a KH fan event that he knew about months before this interview, or even at a gaming convention like TGS, but a world reveal two months after E3 would be surprising.
Will there be a demo? No. Will there be a stage event? No. Will Nomura be there? Probably not. The D23 in August would be the perfect place for a world reveal. Pixar's inclusion would be a big deal, so why not at Disney's own convention. Or show off an old property like Robin Hood. He may not be recognized by the mainstream, but in a room full of Disney Finatics? They would drool all over him.
So, those are my thoughts and crazy theories. What do you all think?
