I'd like to think that Nomura has already started story/scenario planning as well as character development for the next KH game after KH3. That man is probably on par with Xehanort in real life in terms of his ability to plan 10 steps ahead of time, although he is quite careful with what he reveals to the public - sometimes subtle dropping clues for the KH fans to read between the lines.

Do you agree that a KH game after the Xehanort Saga has already started planning?

Probably. One of the reasons I look forward to the next saga is because I bet that before the first game of the saga releases, Nomura will have already planned the plot of the entire saga. This would definitely have some benefits since this would have no retcons.

 

Back on topic : A while back Nomura did say that he had a secret movie (or secret ending) in the works for Kingdom Hearts 3. So he most likely already has ideas for the next saga.

This so much this. The current saga had so many retcons and alterations and breaking of the game's own logic. But you got to hand it to him, it all makes sense for some reason.

i wouldn't give him that much credit. hasn't he been writing this current saga as he goes along? i mean i sure hope he's at least planning things ahead of time for the next saga so the story flows in a more natural way.

We can assume that Unchained X/ Back Cover will be important for the next saga.

Well, I highly doubt he would already be planning the next game in the new saga seeing as he still has to plan the rest of Kingdom Hearts X, Back Cover, 0.2 and Kingdom Hearts 3. If he was...I would slap him across the face.

He must have an idea for it. He probably already planned many things, like new characters, their relationship with the current characters, and the main plot ideas. This will change while he's making the games, that's for sure, and the same goes to the current saga, he had probably planned the existance of nobodys while working in KH1, and the existance of Unversed while creating KH2, just like the begining and the end of the saga (that's probably the first thing that he should have thought about), which has probably changed with the creation of more games like BBS and DDD (who knows if he had planned that Sora was going to sleep for a whole year before he started with CoM).

Provided I don't jump ship after KH3 -- thanks, convoluted and depressing storyline -- I would love something without any retcons, Villain Sues, etc., for once.

They did say a couple of years back that the next saga will have a more planned story than this one. 

well that's definitely good to know. it'll be interesting to see how Nomura handles the story when he actually plans things out. that would give me more incentive to stick around with the series to see how it goes.

Well, it's already been confirmed that Sora will always be the main protagonist so there's that.

Also, judging from the recent emphasis on the lore of the KH world (Unchained X) I'm guessing that'll be an important part of the story of future titles.

 

As for how far ahead Nomura has planned the story I wouldn't be surprised if he already has the bigger events of future titles in mind.

When he was brainstorming for KHI, he was already thinking of Chain of Memories and II, and while he was making II, he was thinking of BBS and Days. So I'd wager he only thought up the plot of 3D while making BBS, as well as the events of X. When he was creating the first KH, I highly doubt  he'd thought up the X-Blade. 

 

So in a way, he both plans ahead and makes it up as he goes along. So there are maybe a few discrepancies in the series, but for the most part it stays consistent. So in other words, I have no doubt Nomura is already thinking of the next saga after this one. Maybe not fully, like how the next saga will end and stuff, but he's thinking up the beginning of the next saga at least.

I knew at that time that there were two additional games after the first KINGDOM HEARTS. Later, when I finished KINGDOM HEARTS Chain of Memories, I had other plans: Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days and coded. This is kind of what happened in the history of the series: I did not have a clear idea of the whole story from the beginning, but it is built over time.

I think the groundwork for the next saga will be laid in KH3. There are so many things going on in the Kingdom Hearts universe its almost impossible for them all to seem important at the time. We will get some setup in KH3 but be too busy fighting Xehanort so it won't stick out at us.

The credit is because for some reason, even though changes are still being made, everything makes perfect sense. You just need to play every single game.

I think there are two possibilities for the main villain after Kingdom Hearts III

1) Maleficent () comes back even more bad-ass and evil than before with a brand new scheme (remember the re:coded secret movie?)

2) An entirely new foe we not yet know of.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

I'd say the series after KH3 will be about bringing the true Kingdom Hearts back from the darkness as told in the tale by Kairi's grandmother.

I hope Nomura comes up with a super bad ass villain that goes head to head with Sora personally. I feel like Sora doesn't have as much beef with Xehanort compared to Aqua, Terra and Ven do. I'd like to see an enemy aimed more at Sora specifically.
