Would you like to see a free-spoiler policy intemplated for non KH related games, movies, and more?

Posted

Ever since the new Star Wars movie has been released to the public, the internet have been dealing with heavy spoilers. People have been avoiding such spoilers by limiting their internet time and not even spending time with friends who watched said movie till they see it.

The moderator team and I have felt that we should allow the site to be spoiler-free from big games, movies, shows and more. We will remove said spoilers but not put any punishment on the user for spoiling unless it is done on purpose or if the person does it multiple times despite warnings.

You can't drop spoilers on this site at all if this policy takes place for certain time after the release.

Now do you want this policy? Got any suggestions? Vote on the poll or tell us your suggestion below.

I mean if people make a new topic and write

in the title, I don't see any problem there.

But for status updates I would say they should be spoiler free.

Not just [-enter product here- SPOILER] but with no obvious spoiler in the title.

Yes of course. Wouldn't make any sense to write a spoiler in the title I guess xD

You underestimate some people.

Probably. I can't really think that people would write a spoiler into the title and then add

. Would be really dumb  :/

It has happened in this site before

Given that The Force Awakens was spoiled for me due to a status on this site, I'd definitely be all for that.

You mean...like this?

:P

Yes! It isn't fair for anyone who hasn't seen nor heard.

Shana darling, you are a genius!

When Dream Drop Distance rolled around, a lot of people who had already played it or had seen the playthrough for the Japanese version of the game were spoiling heavy stuff! Thankfully, I was able to avoid all spoilers for the game, so my experience with it wasn't ruined, ya know?  But that just leaves me afraid for when Kingdom Hearts III comes out!  Next year, it'll be a decade that I've been waiting for the game, and when it comes out, I don't want people spoiling the game to me! So your idea of a spoiler free policy is definitely a great one!

This way, people who have seen big movies and anime or played any big games won't be able to spoil anything for the people who haven't experienced such things yet!  Because spoiling is bad!!! D:

So yeah, I forward this idea!  Do it! :D

I'd say yes if it wasn't an absolute rule, as in if it's within the standard "spoiler" tags, or like others have said if a thread has

in the title and no actual spoilerific title, those should be aloud.

Also yeah spoiler status' have got to go, adleast for newly released media.

Spoiler statuses, posts without spoiler tag (and posts with spoiler tags in threads that have nothing to do with the thread without saying where the spoiler is coming from), and spoilers in the title will be removed.

Threads with [-product- SPOILER] with no spoiler in the title, posts with appropriate spoiler tags and with clear warning where the spoiler is coming from will be fine.

As long people put the information in a spoiler or give us a warning, I'm all for it. But hey, this is the Internet. You just CAN'T expect spoilers to not pop up.

Of course but people should be completely understanding that people do not want to hear spoilers at all. If they continue with such behavior, they will face the consequences. And note that this is always added on any other issue a member has been punished on so if a member is a trouble maker and got punished (which increase by each offense) a bunch of times and causes another issue again such as spoiling, they will still have a continuation of their punishment. For example if Bill argued with people or cause issues 20 times and we punished him again and again increasing the days of the punishment (2, 4, 6, 12, 24 days) and all of a sudden he drops a spoiler, it will be 36 days.

Not saying this is the actual punishment cycle (i picked random numbers this time for the example) but this is just a small glimpse of how it works.

I say no, because honestly I don't care for spoilers. Spoilers never ruin my experience either way. If I can still experience something, and sometimes it's better if I know what is going to happen beforehand as I experience something, then I am good. So I guess I can go either way? Eh.

Would leaks for content that has yet to be officially released count as spoilers? Like, remember the Super Smash Bros leak that showed Ryu and Roy's congratulations film? That was before Ryu and Roy were officially announced in the Nintendo Direct or whatever.

I personally would be fine with a spoiler-free policy. If you really do make the policy, would you announce the policy when it comes into effect?

Rock on!

I suppose yes. The issue is that we would need someone to let us know if such a thing is a spoiler since we can't know every game, movie, etc. that comes out.

For Smash I'll know since I'm into that, but that's over now.

And yes there will be a separate thread to announce if the policy is happening, which seems likely the case.

You would have to have the entire mod team be extra cautious of every thread made and if spoilers come about, then to take action. Not only that, but you also have to hope members will be on top and report anything with spoilers and not tagged properly.

Also, mods would have to read the content and be spoiled on everything, which I feel bad for them. Haha.

Normally I wouldn't care for spoilers, but because people hate them so much, I'll agree for the sake of those people. Plus, no one knows how to warn people that there is a spoiler up ahead, which gives you guys more reason to implement a spoiler free policy. As Shia LaBeouf would say: JUST DO IT. Plus, maybe for KH related things as well, unless it comes from a trailer. I know it's a Kingdom Hearts dedicated site, but spoilers are spoilers.

There was always a KH spoiler policy.
