This is what its come to. all the uncreativity has lead to this. Now i dont know what kind of schedule you have were you have to steal character designs for a fricking video game but still. Not that the series was any good to begin with, all the fanservice and rape scenes and just complete disrespect for woman in general. So SAO has released a few games so far, all of them sub par and only getting worse (at least in that regard its just like the original anime) a new game came out and it has a new character whose design seems... familiar

Same eye color, same color scheme. they even both have some yellow object on the left side of their hair.

How... unoriginal. i am neither impressed nor inspired. 

SAO is basically a parasite at this point. constantly making more female characters just so the can make more money off their expensive overly sexual figures.

Maybe not. But thats like saying that maybe Reki kawahara will learn how to actually write a good story. so yeah. no chance at that.

You're overreacting. Having three shared qualities between them doesn't mean either one of these designs is a rip off of the other, especially when only one of those qualities (the eyes) have any remote similarities (but because they're eyes and you can't really do much with that in the first place). I can find many other designs who also have blue eyes and blue hair. Having a "yellow thing" in their hair is barely an argument in it of itself.

 

I'd also argue about your points in SAO in general but since most of them are fallacies anyway, I'll just leave that alone. Anything I say will be meaningless given the general reputation of the franchise on this site anyway.

To be honest I am not seeing too much of a similarity to the two anime characters myself, excepting arguably some of the coloring and design.  I've seen so many designs cross over between animes and games that it is so difficult to be wholly original anymore.  There's bound to be similarities here and there, but this is just my opinion.

There is also the even stronger resemblence of Kirito when he's a fairy with Zack Fair...

I honestly don't think they look very much alike, aside from hair color and eyes, and even then it's not much.

They look a bit alike with the same hair color and eyes, but other than that...

 

Honestly, anime and jrpgs have a ton of characters that look similar to other characters; there's very little diversity in their designs.  Noctis (FFXV) looks a lot like Sasuke (Naruto), Psaro (Dragon Quest IV) Arumat (Star Ocean 4) and Magus (Chrono Trigger) look alike.  Heck, when I first played the first Kingdom Hearts when I was nine, I thought that Sora was Tai from Digimon, and even now I say that their resemblance is uncanny.

 

SAO isn't the only game/anime 'ripping' off character designs, so don't get too upset.

pretty much this^^ i really don't see any resemblance other than maybe the eyes which...are just eyes that are also blue, which is no big deal because that is a really common thing in anime and in Japanese games(heck look at kingdom hearts).

At this point, people are just stretching to find new excuses to make fun of SAO.

Well, I mean a lot of different anime and games reference other things in terms of character design.

 

Just look at Kirito and Asuna compared to Jude and Milla from Tales of Xillia!
