Nintendo Confirms Movies Are Coming; 1st Due in 2-3 Years

I don't even know if this is a good move or not anymore

I hate to be a downer, but I still think that these movies will be terrible, even with Nintendo helping to make them.  I don't even think there's ever been a good video game based movie.

Honestly, I don't see what they can make movies out of. I only see Fire Emblem and The Legend of Zelda as potential movies.

Golden Sun, Sin and Punishment, Metroid, earthbound, kid icarus.

Even a Mario rpg

You know I always thought both Fire Emblem (in the CGI from Awakening and Fates) and Kid Icarus have great potential to be made into an anime series. Metroid would also be really cool on the big screen. Though I don't think 3D animated films are the way to go for some of their IPs.

Knowing Nintendo though they wouldn't take the risk with promising IPs, as Mario and Zelda are easily the most recognisable brands in terms of marketing. A 3D animated Mario movie could work, but if those old rumours of Sony Pictures being lined up for a Mario movie then colour me disinterested already. As for Zelda, I'm not sure.

I think a few games from Nintendo's backlog are definitely worthy of adaptations though, like Earthbound or something, but they'd never take the risk or listen to fans.

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy Advent Children.

Video game based, and all pretty good.

Seeing a Mother trilogy would be cool, same with  Punch Out or maybe even a sequel to Subspace Emissary (SSBB's adventure mode) using the SSB4 cast.

Awesome! I can't wait to see what they'll come up with.

hmm, what if they make a movie out of mario and luigi: Boswer's inside Story. That would be pretty interesting in my opinion

Tron and technically Wreck-it Ralph.

Hmm, well, if Nintendo as a company is going to be involved with movies that will most probably be based on their popular video game franchises, then hey, I'll give them a shot, ya know?  Who knows?  Maybe they could make it big as a movie studio as well!  Only time will tell! ^_^

I think it is best to think positively about this. There are many chances of this going wrong, but just as many for them to get it right.None of the Nintendo IP movies have to necessarily be based on an existing game.As for which Nintendo IP will become a movie, I think it has to be a pretty big one, and I think it might depend on the deal. For something like Metroid or Donkey Kong, they might just get a respectable studio and say "Make us a good movie". With Mario and Zelda though, they'd probably want to be over every step of development. There is also studio politics to consider. For example, it would probably be difficult for Nintendo and Disney to work together. Not that they hate each other or anything, but I could see them both wanting a sense of ownership of, say, an animated Zelda movie.

Golden Sun, Sin and Punishment, Metroid, earthbound, kid icarus.

I've only heard of the last 3 Bu t I guess these could work too

Not a surprise. A lot of video game companies have been doing movie adaptations, especially over the last few years,

finally, I've been waiting for Super Mario Bros. 2

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy Advent Children.

Huh, I actually didn't know Silent Hill was based on a video game.  Learn something new everyday.  As for Resident Evil and FF Advent Children, I've heard mixed reviews; some people like these movies, and others don't.

Tron and technically Wreck-it Ralph.

Tron is based on a video game too?  Well, I've heard mixed things about that movie as well.  As for Wreck-it Ralph, I absolutely love this movie (my favorite Disney movie actually), but I found it to be more of a homage to video games; its not based on an actual video game called Wreck-it Ralph, and as far as I know that game does not exist (and I'm not talking about the game based on the movie)

Silent Hill is based on a LOT of games: the film mixes four games from the series into one

Lol the live action RE movies are horrible compared to the games. And Silent Hill Live action movies were decent,

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy Advent Children.

You should watch Advent Children again. The pretty CGI and action scenes must have distracted you from the abysmal narrative.

Tron wasn't based on a game. There was a game in the movie called Tron iirc. The movie was basically Jeff Bridges getting transported into a computer. The original movie doesn't hold up well nowadays, but the animation was groundbreaking at the time. Its sequel, Tron Legacy, is polarizing to some. I personally think it's a good film though even if it has its flaws.

Aw looks like Pokémon is coming.

well I said technically, they do have a real game but the games came out after the movie. I think Fix it felix jr. came out before the movie did because you could win the machine: http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Paranoids http://a.dilcdn.com/bl/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2012/08/fix-it-felix-jr-arcade-wreck-it-ralph-printable-photo-420x420-fs-img_0272.jpg

Yeah, but neither Tron or Wreck It Ralph are based on video games. That Fix it Felix Jr. game was part of marketing for the film. Both films used video games as a basic plot device, but they are not video game adaptations or anything.

They are still good films though. Especially Wreck It Ralph, it works on so many levels.

oh ok then, I still wish I won the Fix-it Felix jr. arcade machine though.
