Update: Famitsu has kindly provided us with more details on the new update for Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ.

 

This includes a new "Proud Mode" setting, allowing players to experience missions on a harder difficulty. Currently, only missions 1-50 are available in proud mode. More will be added on soon.

 

Aside from proud mode, there will be a new "high score" event, where you battle enemies for the highest scores against other players. Those who rank high in the event get a voiced Maleficent medal.

 

Lastly, the second half of the new Alice event has begun. Those who complete it get a new "Alice & Cheshire" medal.

On June 30th, at 10:00 AM JST (9:00 PM USA EDT, 6:00 PM USA PDT, on the 29th), Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will be updated to Version 1.3.0, introducing a new Keyblade, which is the Sleeping Lion Keyblade originally in Kingdom Hearts II. Aside from a new Keyblade, there will be new events, a new 'mystery' medal, and more.

New gameplay mechanics? Those stars and that yellow sun-reward-thingy look nice. The interface is all red; I do not know whether I like that or not

This looks cool, but why the heck are we getting Sleeping Lion instead of Fairy Stars or Stroke of Midnight? Arg. 

Also, it looks like certain missions will require you to have a certain amount of Guilt on a medal in order to complete objectives -- 40%, in that screenshot, which would mean you *have* to have gotten at least seven of a non-farmable medal, or several good event ones.That...seems like a death knell for F2P.

Hopefully, that's only something for certain Special/Event challenges like the Proud quests or Adamant missions. It would still suck sure, but not as much so as it would if it's a thing for story missions. In that case, the reward may not be something entirely necessary for a f2p. Keep in mind also that Japan has Mickey & Brooms to make things a little easier.

 

I'm more interested in knowing what the deal is with the Magic Mirror medal.

this looks like a harder difficulty version. like you can go back and do the missions for a challenge and better rewards. so the interface turns red when you switch the difficulty

Okay, specifically it says something like "Can only use the abilities of medals with 40% Guilt or more". Which, you could still -attack- with regular medals, but you'd be severely handicapped.

How long untill it comes to NA?

It's all in the name. Sleeping Lion. Realm of Sleep. It's make even more sense with the Forteller's animal motif.

Seriously though, I hope we still get Enchanted Dominion and the Fairy Stars Keyblade at some point, it would just feel like such a great last world to go to before everything starts centering itself in Daybreak Town for the finale.

i am actually glad i have jp version
