Today at Tokyo Game Show 2012, Square Enix have announced a HD collection of Kingdom Hearts titles, named Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-. The collection includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hears 358/2 Days, all for the PlayStation 3. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories will be HD remasters, and have trophy support, while 358/2 Days will simply be cutscenes remade into HD for a Theatre Mode. The release date as this stage is simply 2013.

Update 1: Message from the KINGDOM has provided us with more information about Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. Oishii from KH13 is translating this information, and you can read it below.

In memory of this year being the 10th Anniversary of the "Kingdom Hearts" series, we are compiling a collection of the first works "Kingdom Hearts" and "KH Re:Chain of Memories" in HD. Furthermore, 2009’s Nintendo DS game "KH 358/2 Days", which received much credit for its enjoyable story, will be compiled as well.

“Kingdom Hearts” (first work) game’s later release with various additional content “KH Final Mix” (Japanese language release) will receive an entire HD rendition.
With the two HD remakes, we will add fully remade HD event scenes from Nintendo’s DS game “KH 358/2 Days”. This remake will give a new feeling to the series, and the 3 editions to the series will be a collection you should look forward to.

Furthermore, KH and KH Re:CoM will also support PlayStation 3's trophy system.

Update 3: Square Enix have updated their TGS 2012 website with a page for the Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-.

Update 4: 4Gamer.net have published an article revealing some more small details about the announcements. While Kingdom Hearts Final Mix originally had English voice acting, the version of the game appearing in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX- will have Japanese voice acting-- including all extra scenes.

Update 5: Footage from Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX continues to be shown at Tokyo Game Show 2012. Both ArikaMiz and aibo_ac7 have Tweeted some small details about the video, revealing that some text scenes from 358/2 Days will be made into HD cutscenes. The video shown contains clips from all the opening video of all 3 games, as well as a scene with Xion and Axel, where Axel says "let's go to the beach", and Xion responds. (Thanks to goldpanner for the translation.)

Hey, don't psyche the game out just yet! I don't think square would just leave the game in Japanese and keep it for themselves. Besides, even if they did, the ps3 is not region coded so they'll have no choice but to release it overseas and will get an English version of it.

since there is no KH1.5 section yet thought i would post it here till one gets made.

now how is square digging their own grave? KH on consoles started on the PS2 which at the time was vastly more popular than gamecube or xbox, now its the other way around and xbox is on top. most of the younger generation fanbase of KH moved on to xbox's and the current younger generation is the same. without these people the game is going to completely undersell.

now some people are probobly going to say "but xbox cant handle that much data" or "xbox demographic is the wrong one for RPGs." first off no XBOX has tons of action RPG fans which are the ones that matter, we got mass effect first, and we got skyrim both which sold excelently and are action RPGs. and most of the xbox community would probobly like it anyway since it is a fast paced action game, its the right demographic of customers.

now on the second point of it being too much space, allright maybe it is for xbox, but than if that is the case why not put it on PC with controller support? PC gamers are still the same type of gamers as consoles and a lot of non PS3 owners would probobly jump at the chance to get the game on comuter especially since on comuters the graphics could be tuned up better than on PS3 if you have the right hardware. and its not like square has never put something on PC before, the final fantasy 7 port was a PC one and im not aware if there was a PS3 port.

unless square ports it to xbox or PC or both they are going to lose a huge chunk of the KH fanbase and not make as much money as they could hope for.

Having only 2 games per disc shouldn't make it an issue for a 360's DVD-9.

There should've also been a Wii U version as well.

KH games are only on good consoles, which is why Xbox doesn't have one. Seeing as it's only features are graphics and online play(which are useless to a good game, even though we're talking about an HD game) there's no need. Plus Square has always put the home console versions of the game on Sony systems, you expect them to just jump right into Xbox because some people want it? They're being smart, they know most of their fan base expects their next home console games on PS3(or 4 depending on release dates for KH3 and the actual console), so they're sicking to that. There's no reason to put it on xbox, and there's going to be a game for PC, that was announced too. From what I see their profits are going to either reamain steady or go up.

Plus I don't think people want to have to deal with over a dozen disks to play two games, that's completely stupid...

Id say this is a biased opinion and not a truth but everyone is entitled. I for one dont own an xbox and i dont believe most hardcore jrpg players do. The fact of the matter is that it began on the playstation and square definitely has a better history with sony, and arguably nintendo as well, than microsoft.

Ps3 games have much more potential and quality. Look at FFXIII for example. They could've even added a theater mode, but it would take up more discs on xbox. It takes 4 xbox discs compared to a better-quality 1 ps3 disc. Just saying. So...yeah, the ps3 owns. The xbox isn't bad, and it can do pretty good, but kingdom hearts just isn't for microsoft.

i find it hilarious you call PS3 a good console compared to xbox with its ridiculous ammount of console patches, install work for when you buy new games, terrible social features (no chatting with freinds across games) and no backwards compatability. yes xbox has its own flaws but so does playstation.

it should have been released at least on PC and PS3. the PC game is just what sounds like a terrible browser game, nothing substantial at all.

Um...why are you bringing this to this topic? This comment was on a completely different topic(well, it was technically about the same thing...) And who the hell cares if you can chat with friends while you're playing, I did say online play was a joke right? I don't want to talk to people when I play, I want to play the stupid game. And there's only so many patches on the PS3 and not on the 360 because the developers know a lost cause when they see it, at least they're trying to fix their mistakes for PS3 owners. Which is another thing, the patches have to do with developers, sure there may be some from Sony itself, but not as much as from individual games...Also there's backwards compatibility with PS3's, I play KH on it all the time, it's just that it's iffy with some of them, but mine works fine for it...

And there's only been an announcement on it being made, HOW do you know that the game is going to be a "terrible browser game" it sounds like it's going to be a PC game, cause THAT'S ALL WE KNOW SO FAR!

In conclusion:

you seriously underestimate the portion of KH fans that are the younger generation. and 3DS was differnt because the 3DS is the best selling and usualy most prefered mobile system of gamers, 3D was just more incentive to upgrade to it from a DS. PS3 is not as popular as you make it out to be and there is no way i would but a PS3 just for one game when most of the games i want are on PC or xbox, same goes for a lot of other people as well.

Well I never said it "shouldn't" be released on anything else besides the PS3, I was just telling you that they won't lose a chunk of KH3's sales because I know for a complete fact that millions of people are still going to buy it regardless of what system it's on. I myself think KH3 would be worth the measly 300 bucks for a PS3. Are you even aware of how utterly outstanding this game is going to be? 300 bucks isn't shit. It takes less than 2 weeks to make that money from minimum wage. KH 3 is still 2-3 years away, so it's easy as hell for people to save up that money for KH3....

That said, I'd much rather have KH 3 only on PS3, since it feels right because that's where the console games have always belonged; on Sony consoles. And I guarantee it will be since these HD Remixes are PS3-only.

Stop talking about the game not releasing in Europe or North America! Try to make sense. I think it will come to these places because of 3 reasons:

1st - English version of KH 3D did hinted about HD collection in the Secret message.

2nd - There's trophy system: I Ike collecting trophies on PS3 and so do many other people in many countries other than Japan so why would Square Enix be stupid to not consider this and release the game only for Japan!

3rd - There are loads of fans of Kingdom Hearts in both Europe and NA!

Overall I think that this game will eventually come to both Europe and NA and I'm guessing that the release date will be in the summer; probably the same date as Kingdom Hearts 3D released on but hopefully more earlier.
