Today at Tokyo Game Show 2012, Square Enix have announced a HD collection of Kingdom Hearts titles, named Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-. The collection includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hears 358/2 Days, all for the PlayStation 3. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories will be HD remasters, and have trophy support, while 358/2 Days will simply be cutscenes remade into HD for a Theatre Mode. The release date as this stage is simply 2013.

Update 1: Message from the KINGDOM has provided us with more information about Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. Oishii from KH13 is translating this information, and you can read it below.

In memory of this year being the 10th Anniversary of the "Kingdom Hearts" series, we are compiling a collection of the first works "Kingdom Hearts" and "KH Re:Chain of Memories" in HD. Furthermore, 2009’s Nintendo DS game "KH 358/2 Days", which received much credit for its enjoyable story, will be compiled as well.

“Kingdom Hearts” (first work) game’s later release with various additional content “KH Final Mix” (Japanese language release) will receive an entire HD rendition.
With the two HD remakes, we will add fully remade HD event scenes from Nintendo’s DS game “KH 358/2 Days”. This remake will give a new feeling to the series, and the 3 editions to the series will be a collection you should look forward to.

Furthermore, KH and KH Re:CoM will also support PlayStation 3's trophy system.

Update 2: Footage from Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 Remix- is being shown in the Square Enix Mega Theatre at Tokyo Game Show 2012. This means we might see recordings soon!

Update 3: Square Enix have updated their TGS 2012 website with a page for the Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-.

Update 4: 4Gamer.net have published an article revealing some more small details about the announcements. While Kingdom Hearts Final Mix originally had English voice acting, the version of the game appearing in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX- will have Japanese voice acting-- including all extra scenes.

Update 5: Footage from Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX continues to be shown at Tokyo Game Show 2012. Both ArikaMiz and aibo_ac7 have Tweeted some small details about the video, revealing that some text scenes from 358/2 Days will be made into HD cutscenes. The video shown contains clips from all the opening video of all 3 games, as well as a scene with Xion and Axel, where Axel says "let's go to the beach", and Xion responds. (Thanks to goldpanner for the translation.)

No !!! they replaced Sora's face with the one from 3D in the collection. I preferred the one from KH1. I think he had much more facial expressions in KH1

    The PS3 is, objectively, a much superior console to the 360. It's the human element that decides. Many people choose the 360 for the online, or the exclusives. The most common reason was because somebody's friend was getting it. A PC port would most likely drive down sales dramatically due to an easily accessible pirated version of the game.

    The moral of this story? Good and bad are objective, and are a terrible means of gauging anything in the real world.

     

    As evidence, I pirated Days and Re:Coded... I would probably do the same for the HD collection, if it came out on pc... But not KH3. Never KH3.

     

    All this pirating means that when Versus is confirmed for release, or KH3 is announced, I can buy a PS3. I'm pirating for the good of KH-anity, damnit!

    those are still action RPGS just like kingdom hearts is, they are the same type of genre. and seriously, you think PC gaming is a small community? you make me laugh, PC gaming is huge, steam has over 50 million people registered on it. and piracy isnt nearly as bad as you make it out to be, if it was as bad as what your saying than the PC market wouldnt still be around.

     

    my point still stands, at least the game should come out on PC and PS3

    No, it's not the same at all. Western RPGs have a completely separate design philosophy than Japanese ones. Kingdom Hearts isn't even remotely comparable to Skyrim, or anything like that

    And I don't think you really understand how sales work with PC games. It's much harder to sell a 'mainstream' console type game on the PC than for it to remain on a console. A company needs internet presence to be respected enough to keep piracy down... and piracy is ridiculously rampant. You have no clue what you're talking about.

    Kingdom hearts is completely comparable to skyrim and mass effect. they are all RPGs, they are all action based and have live non-turn based combat systems and immerse you in a huge story, you carry items, manage your weapons and teams abilitys.

     

    and i think it would be pretty easy to sell kingdom hearts on PC if the only other alternative is PS3 with how many people are asking for it on wii and xbox and most of those people would be willing to get it on PC at least

    Interesting sentiment.

    The only reasons why a person won't pirate something is because they either can't, won't, if getting the legal version is easier, or if they feel that the company deserves their money.

    And Kingdom Hearts doesn't have that clout. A PC port just increases the number of people who will pirate it as opposed to buying a legitimate copy.

    An RPG is more than a sum of its parts. Kingdom Hearts is an action game. It involves fast, anime style combos. It's a cutscene heavy game, the storyline is linear. I think this quote perfectly exemplifies the level of depth of thought you are putting into this argument, namely, your argument is skin deep. You're not thinking about this at all. You look at the sum of something's parts, and simply call anything else the same thing. Western RPGs are dramatically different from JRPGs

    No. These people would be willing to pirate the game. There's no way a PC version of Kingdom Hearts could sell in any meaningful way, especially considering there would be a big increase on piracy OF the game.

    There's just no market for Kingdom Hearts right now on the PC. That may change one day, but certainly not right now.

    Well, from what I know, Kingdom Hearts 3 is the next NEW game. But unfortunately the branch of Square Enix that works on the numbered titles are still busy with Versus XIII. Until that game comes out they can't get on to Kingdom Hearts 3. So I guess while we're waiting another team are getting on with another welcome addition to the series.

    Hey, I'm going to buy both either way. Why? So I can relive my childhood and get extra content as a bonus. I never got the Final Mixes.

     

    Now, while you say Noruma doesn't want Final Mixes to come to the West, that's old news. This is a HD collection, new console, old games, one bundle. He'd be ripping us off if this remains Japan exclusive and he probably knows it. Chances are, this will be released over here as well.

     

    Besides, we don't know if there will be a 2.5 but if there is it's still more games graphically updated for our enjoyment. As a fan, I would buy it. So would others and they would happily buy it as fans too.

    We're happy, Square Enix's wallet is happy, and they can make more excellent games.

    Everybody wins, so don't chose to lose out by complaining about something so trivial. Just be happy. I've heard that's the key to happiness.

    We're not sure about the exact rights that SE has for the Tarzan franchise.

     

    I doubt they'd add Deep Jungle in Re:COM- it is only an HD upgrade.

    Well, it is just KH1 with upgraded graphics(doubt anything new would be done to Tarzan's world). Its not a new game like COM......but hey, laws are strict, anything is possible.

    you keep saying it would be over-pirated but never why. theres no reason kingdom hearts would be more pirated than any other game on PC. if the worst company ever that everyone hates like EA can maintain profit on PC than so can kingdom hearts.

     

    as for JRPGS, the only thing that really strikes me as japanese about kingdom hearts is the art style, thats just it. all the gameplay resembles any other action RPG, and did you seriously just say american RPGs arnt cutscene heavy? clearly you have never played mass effect.

    They probably won't change the gameplay. However, it is very likely for the cutscene skipping part.
