It's a backwards kind of punishment though, it makes the game harder for the less skilled, and easier for the more skilled it sends a very bizarre message "Oh, this place was too hard and you died? Well try again, except now it's harder!" I don't think DS deaths should punish you too much for death, it's more about learning, the challenge shouldn't come from artificial limitations, it should come from challenging design

I played it first too, I REALLY think the health degeneration mechanic is awful and goes against the idea behind Dark Souls

to be fair, he's being a jerk to people who say it sucks without actually play the game and yet claim to be a review. Whatever you think of the game, that's not right at all

if Toriyama is to blame for Lightning Returns, then good job Toriyama, that was a good game though 13-2 was better
I didn't know Toriyama was in charge of the art assets and level design for FF13
Take it slow, then just edit out the gaps
same reason they don't use small medium and large at Star Bucks
