    *sorry forgot to mention* Basically, someone claims a favorite fictional character as their waifu or husbando because they find them attractive/cute/etc.

    But why do females use the term "waifu" instead of "husbando". Doesn't that seem a little... weird?

    I'm not sure at all, actually. Some might do it ironically, some might do it because they are attracted to females, some might just use the term because they really like a character. If they're calling MALE character their waifu's, then I just chalk it up to the fact that husbando isn't used nearly as often (or they're joking/being ironic, depending on the context).
