  1. The reason they are in this realm is due to the fact time flows differently. Thus they can learn how to use the keyblade, if they went to Camelot, then time would flow normally and they wouldn't be prepared in time.
  2. Why is it more far fetched than DB Town? If we look at the evidence we have then we know that Lea and Kairi are located in a realm Merlin created for them. Kairi has stated that in her letter to Sora, which will be a cutscene in KH3. Nomura has stated that this location will not be visited in game, which again supports the notion that this is Merlin’s Realm otherwise why couldn’t Sora access it? Also, from a look perspective, I do feel as if people are associating a hill from a trailer and a hill from a film cutscene. It’s not a geographical exclusive feature. Also, DB town is symbolic of Dawn hence the name Daybreak, this surrounding looks more in tune with Twilight, so potentially TT is more likely a candidate. However, due to the evidence we’ve been presented with, I still believe this is Merlin’s Realm and the two are still training.
  3. I agree with you, I’d have no issue with a plot around 2 hours to complete, being realistic with that guess, and the choice to explore afterwards. Also, I hope the plot doesn’t require you to constantly go on yourself, imagine for example a Deep Jungle experience on a KH3 scale, you’d spend hours going back and forth
  4. More than likely it's the Realm Merlin created in order for the two of them to train. That was my rationale anyway
  5. I don't have any 'fears' plot wise. As long as the saga is completed in a satisfactory way I'm happy. End of the day, whilst this is this is the end of a saga, we should also be looking at the future. That being said, from people's gameplay, interviews and general observations I have a few gameplay 'fears'. 1) Most importantly is that white light which runs up the walls of areas you can run up- that was extremely distracting and actually took me out of the environment. 2) Worlds taking too long- whilst the exploration will be fun in this game, both during and after the story, I don't want the worlds to drag on longer than needed. No doubt everyone has worlds they can spend hours in, others don't have the sam effect. Thus, I'm hoping the plot advances smoothly and doesn't force players to spend ages in one location. 3) Boss Lengths- I never really considered this an issue in previous titles, however in the last trailer the heartless boss had 17 bars of health. If we have to ride the heartless to reach the boss, only to fall in the water and repeat this will take ages to complete, and this would not only reduce the enjoyment of the game during the fight, but from a second play through perspective. If we know 'Boss X' in 'World..' is time-consuming, repetitive and frustrating then there is a risk that you'll spend the world hating to fight that boss.
  6. I don't see why not? It's an easy to implement and it's a fun minigame. I'd find it amusing if they included data struggle because Roxas would still be the champion.
  7. In relation to tweaking, I hope those white walls get adjusted because even from watching people's footage it just seemed really off putting and for me personally took me out of the world, especially when it appears whole sections have this feature. In relation to hardships this is actually encouraging news. You could have despair as in the fact that the heartless/nobodies and now unversed are not getting weaker despite his best efforts, being worried about the state of his other friends throughout the game or being unable to help any of TAV until the end of the game. However, like we saw in KHII, whilst Sora can be knocked down for a period of time, not only is he at his most dangerous, but it is always a blip before it is back to usual
  8. I think we have three more to come: one new, one mini game and one returning. From the get go I believe Pooh and co will return, there seems to be a trend of following the previous titled games ( Gummi Travel etc) and I'd be surprised if Pooh doesn't return. As worlds go, it isn't particularly challenging to think of a: Feed Pooh honey, a help Piglet, Bouncing game and a rescue mission with a touching ending between Pooh and Sora. The New world: Thinking of themes we still haven't had an anthropomorphic, space, desert or jungle inspired world yet and I do believe one of these will appear. If I had to gamble I'd say Jungle Book as it has a strong following, an unfortunate 'nearly included' record in the series, HJO voice acting Mowgli in JB2 and you could include Shanti as one of the 'new pure lights'. It's a safe candidate for sure and we also know that the Powerwilds are back and once again they could easily fit in a Jungle themed world again. Returning World: I'm going for Agrabah (though as I've explained in the past- I'm more inclined to rule this out) or Lilo and Stitch. Both worlds would fit in the criteria of 'having new maps' and both would make sense. I'd lean towards Lilo and Stitch, we haven't concluded Stitch's story thus far and Lilo could very easily fit the 'New Pure Heart' Criteria too. The issue would be Hawaii is a tropical setting and that could be seen as dangerously close to PotC and Destiny Islands. However, I'd argue that PotC seems to place an emphasis on exploration and adventure, whereas Hawaii not as much. I also question whether or not Destiny Islands will actually be playable or not? If it's purely cutscene based, then technically you aren't playing in a tropical setting. Likewise, if Destiny Islands is part of say a Riku segment, then once again you could argue that technically Sora hasn't been to a Tropical Island. Plus you could very easily have a Ukulele mini game alongside a surfing mini game which fits into each world having a mini game section. Finally, in relation to the Frozen trailer, Sora makes a reference to being an 'Islander'. You could very easily have Sora make a light hearted remark of how the weather here is better or more seriously have him reminded of home and whether he'll see home again.
  9. Coming from it from someone who studies political theory, I'll spare you the exact details, I do like this notion a lot and there are a few ways to approach this question. 1) What is free will? If we take the Aristotelian approach, then this would include being free to pursue the good life. Seeing as we don't have a natural 'man' to political 'man' state in Kingdom Hearts, free will for me in this series would be defined as being able to do what your heart commands you. Basically take the 'May your heart be your guiding key' as a starting point. It has to be your heart and your decisions. 2) Have we seen examples of this? Yes, multiple times where the characters decide their own actions, an example would be Ansem the Wise not retreating when his experiment to digitalise Kingdom Hearts failed. 3) What does it take not to have free will? Basically when your action is dictated by another, unless you have the freedom from others interference, for positive reasons or negative- you are not displaying free will. 4) What about the Organisation XIII members? I believe that due to the fact that nobodies can regrow lost hearts, this enabled the members to display an element of free will, they were able to plot betrayal ( CO lot) and were able to make decisions- manner of Xion and Roxas. 5) How does this relate to Xehanort? I believe that the full Norts and not the half norts will not have free will. Their hearts will belong to Xehanort and thus their wills and actions will not be there own. 6) Is Xehanort's will his own? That begs the question due to the fact that his keyblade has a will of it's own and thus perhaps has clouded Xehanort. Is he pursuing his own will or that of the keyblade? Let's pursue the latter 7) If the keyblade is influencing Xehanort, then he himself is not free and is thus a slave to keyblade and the aims of that keyblade, now can keyblades have free will or not? 8) Keyblades choose someone due to their strength of heart and I thus believe that has a connection to free will. The keyblade wielders we know have a strong will and desire for the keyblade. Sora voluntarily allowed Ventus into his heart, Mickey has a desire for protection of others and Lea had a desire to save his best friends, this desire and ambition I believe relates to that persons specific keyblade. However, I think it goes both ways and the wielder can influence their will on their keyblade and that explains why Xehanort's keyblade's will belongs to a specific person. 9) The Master of Masters- As of current knowledge, he is the oldest known occupier of that specific keyblade and when he passed it to Luxu with the aim of allowing him to see into the future, I believe the Master's will was transferred as well and this has continued down to Xehanort. 10) Far fetched? Look at the other fore tellers, they were so fixated with obeying the master they soon lost track of maintaining peace and became skeptical of each other, the Master's role for each member caused their downfall and Aced can be seen as the only one who kind of displayed free will by trying to go against the Master's will. However he too was a pawn. Luxu by obeying the master transferred the will on. Thus all 6 apprentices were not free. 11) Linking this back to Xehanort, if Xehanort is influenced by his Keyblade's will and that is in turn another person's will then he himself is not free. Ergo, none of the consequent Norts are free, in fact they in more shackles as they are obeying another's will they do not know. 12) What if they choose this fate? Then they are obeying their hearts command and are thus displaying free will. Whilst using a real life philosopher like Locke would argue you cannot sell yourself into slavery. The Hobbesian approach would be yes you can, those like Braig chose to be norted and whilst not a rational choice, did have the choice to either remain as Somebodies or become Nobodies, this is especially highlighted with the information that people like Braig deliberately became nobodies again in order to be noted. They had that choice 13) To conclude, to have free will is to have the ability to execute your hearts demands, from choosing to eat ice cream on the tower, to choosing to be noted. Once someone else influences that, free will is lost and your heart is cast in shackles.
  10. Hello all, A common theme of the KH series is a major battle at RG. In the first game it was the penultimate world and from a plot perspective a lot happened. In KH2 we had the 'Battle of Hollow Bastion' which again included heavy plot. Even in BBS and re:coded Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden was an event of a significant battle. Now seeing as KH3 seems to following the patterns of previous titles, this raises the question of yet another battle of Radiant Garden. As a world RG directly relates to both sides, not only through friends such as the Restoration Committee Gang and being a homeworld for a lot of the characters, but also as the name suggests being a beacon of light. This can be expanded upon due to the fact darkness won when there wasn't a Denizen of Light to protect it, with the BBS trio being out of action and being prior to the rise of SKR. However when RG has aid from those with the keyblade on the side of light, darkness does not prevail. Hence, why a 'Battle of RG' makes sense, too much light disrupts the balance and this could be one of the many reasons why the SoDs would attack RG again. This could serve as a prelude to the actual keyblade war only a lessened down scale due to characters having over tasks. I believe this would be an ideal time to reveal either/both Old Man Xehanort/Terranort alongside Xigbar/Saix. In relations to sides due to the increased capacity you could have the Sods alongside heartless and nobodies vs the Gols, RCG and former apprentices of Ansem the Wise. Imagine KH2 on a much increased scale. Due to the 'Battle of RG' always being a heavy hitter plot wise we could a few ways. Either have the darkness claim a victory and 'light expire' which whilst not unlikely, would mean that RG would be left unresolved and due to the fact multiple visits aren't happening reduces this outcome. Or, as seems to be the case using previous titles as evidence have the lights win at a tremendous cost. Expanding upon the last point, I believe this could be a pivotal moment in the game for a few reasons. Firstly, it raises the stakes and acts a as a reminder that the actual war will be a lot more challenging and as Nomura has warned us, the end of the game will be impactful on the players, secondly the victory can act as a justified conclusion for the world due to the amount of effort that has gone in protecting it over the past, an almost 'at last we have victory' moment and thirdly it acts as a fitting way to conclude a few character arcs if they so desire including Lea. If Lea is to be a casualty of war as a few have predicted, then this is the perfect setting for him. Not only is RG his homeward, but it would also help him achieve his version of immortality. Going back to BBS, Lea says he aims to remembered by everyone he meets and there is no fitting way to be remembered than sacrificing yourself for your friends and homeworld. Thus through the survivors of the battle, Lea's memory can live on. The next stage of the battle of RG is that it acts as mechanism to advance the plot such as Terra falling closer to Xehanort's clutches, finding out Ansem sod is in fact the final villain and how the photo of Roxas and HOP was a prompt to go to the mansion in Twilight Town. I have two possible ideas about what could happen, if there is a casualty for the GoLs then the final act of the game could be a hasty mission to find a final member of the lights, this would be vital as otherwise Xehanort would be able to target the 'new pure hearts' and I believe that the last final world reveal for the end game will reveal another 'pure heart'. My second idea is that the SoDs could be using this a distraction and during the events of the battle are able to acquire their final darkness and thus will be ready for the final battle. So whilst the lights may save RG, they might end a member down and low morale, compared to SoDs who knowing Xehanort would have prepared to lose that battle acquire his final member. Overall, I do believe that a battle at RG is likely and just like in previous titles, the lights will win at a great price and from a plot perspective, RG can once again be the mechanism to accelerate the plot.
  11. Whilst what you are saying is interesting and if one pays attention to the Chess Scene and Chi scene where the second Keyblade war is alluded to, more than 7 characters appear. However, whilst the Chess Scene did eventually reveal Vanities, Luxord and larxene being darknesses I still think the Eraqus' pieces are ambiguous. Also going back to the Chi scene, whilst it is plausible to have 9 GoLs, I also assumed that the extra two people were Donald and Goofy, whom I would expect what be around to fight and thus not have an impact on the balance. Also, as has been suggested Xehanort has other options- he has this 'new pure hearts' group, until further information the 'Original seven princesses' and even if the GoLs added people, he'd still have the necessary numbers to recreate the X-Blade. Carrying on, you cannot change what is fated to happen and it seems inevitable that the 13 will fight the 7 (Plus DnG)
  12. Hello all, For the past few years now I've always argued that we'd have 3 returning worlds of: Olympus, Potc and Agrabah, however from the third E3 trailer and Nomura it does seem this isn't the case. We now know that there are '7 new pure hearts' and only Kairi remains from the 'Original 7'. This is significant because Jasmine was part of that group. Now if we are going away from the old in favour of the new, this reduces the likelihood of Agrabah returning. For me personally, having one 'O7' world return and not the others seems unusual and unless Agrabah can serve the plot again, I struggle the see a reason to return. I'm not dismissing Jasmine making the game nor do I see Aladdin or Genie not returning at least as a link. I do find this interesting as I still believe we will have another returning world and if it isn't Agrabah as the signs suggest, then what would return?
  13. Luxord for me, he is my favourite character and I've been waiting to see him since we saw the Dice Chess Piece in the E3 2015 trailer
  14. Hello all, I was just involved in a discussion regarding 'Space Paranoids' and 'The Grid' and the potential of that world returning. Whilst, I flat out do not expect that to happen, this does tie in to something we know is happening within KH3 and that's cameos. This has been a common occurrence within the KH series from Pinocchio in Traverse Town and the likes of Merlin and Scrooge McDuck in Radiant Garden. We know Remy will be in Twilight Town, so linking back to my original point and the question I want to ask you all, a Tron cameo would work. During the second trailer at E3 and the Orchestra Trailer (for those who attended), Ienzo was seen in Ansem's Computer Room. We know Ienzo is helping Sora, and during KH2 we know Tron can communicate to the 'Users' via the computer. So why not have Tron speak to Sora or Ienzo? This is merely building upon something that already exists within KH and if we are focusing on Ansem's data, there becomes a valid reason for a Cameo. This builds upon my next point, why limit Cameos to a small selection of worlds? If we have similar worlds and by that I mean a world that has not made the cut, why not have them appear as a cameo in the world that did? Now the Tron cameo is what I'll call a direct cameo which is where there is actual interaction with the characters, however you could have indirect cameos such as the lady and the tramp statue again. Another point I think is interesting is that it encourages exploration of the worlds. For example in the Pirates world, why not on one of the islands have an indirect reference to Atlantis? Have a 'Hero's Duty' console in Toy Box (I believe this would work the best due it being sci fi) and in Tangled if we can explore the caves, why not have a bear painting? Overall, what do people think? What Cameos would you like to see? This isn't my usual 'think of a theory' post, but more of a discussion!
  15. Luxord for me- Whilst not a complete surprise due to the Dice piece in the E3 2015 Trailer, three years on it was good to see my favourite character return
  16. I'd rather that to Agrabah in all honesty! There is a genius story to conclude rather than drag a world on too much
  17. I'm feeling another returning world- leaning towards Agrabah and another new world reveal. Plus I think 100 Acre Wood will still return and be confirmed.
  18. I rather like the notion of a Norted Aqua, not only does it throw the assumption that her and Ven will be lights potentially out of the window, but has an emotional aspect too. Not only will it hit Mickey that he has failed, it will hit the likes of SRK as well who have a connection to her. Also it adds significant importance on other plot aspects such as Roxas etc and why they are needed to return to fulfil a role. Yes, it could be an illusion as they played a crucial aspect in 0.2, but think how much more significant Aqua-Xehanort would be. It directly impacts the characters and as players puts us in an emotional position. Who has any real issue with taking down the likes of Larxene, Ansem etc in battle? Whereas, not only would we feel hurt by having to potential strike her down, but so would whoever who had to fight her. That 'hurt' would not be easy to handle. If this is genuinely Aqua, I want to see how she was Norted. She's no weakling and it would be interesting to see what happened. Also this makes BBS slightly more cruel, where her transcendence to the Realm of Darkness was symbolic from her eventual fall from the light to the dark.
  19. Hello all, This week has been incredible for KH3, not only do we have a concrete release date, but two world confirmations, a lot of plot content and the return of my favourite character- Luxord. However, I'm writing today about Riku Replica. In particular, what context will he have in KH3. From the get go. I do not believe that Replica will be a Member of the Darknesses. Yes, people can point out that the eyes could be later corrected as Marluxia's were to show he has been norted, but my idea runs a bit deeper than that. There seems to be an emphasis on 'helping' someone in need. Sora seems determined to help Roxas become his own person, Mickey was trying to help Aqua (that went well..) and whilst this is speculation I cannot see Lea abandoning Isa either. Now going back to Replica, we have a similar situation to Roxas where both characters were determined to be individuals and their main connections ( Sora and Riku) accept this and do not seem them as fakes or a nobody. Carrying on, in the D23 trailer, Riku leaves his broken Way to the Dawn keyblade for 'his other me' which was proven to be Replica. My concept is that Replica will mirror Riku's journey from the dark to the light or at least attempt to. Riku as a character can control his darkness and has reached masterhood. Hence, why I believe he will gain his new keyblade after initially being defeated by Dark Aqua. However, I believe Riku will discover a manner to help Replica in the Realm of Darkness and that's why his old Keyblade is left behind. This is because Replica will be starting his own 'Way to Dawn' and I think not only will we see a keyblade break in the game, but also mend. What would be the point of this? We've seen countless characters go from being Denizens of the Darkness to the light, however I do believe there are two potential aspects important to the story. Firstly, as mentioned above there is the theme of helping others in need and Riku's connection to Replica is no different, also look at the latest trailer- Riku does not seem alarmed to see Replica, but on the contrary seems happy. Secondly, and I admit this is my more radical possibility, but could Replica be needed for the final battle? If we believe Aqua has been norted, then I believe that Ven has been compromised. Terra's position is still unknown- so leaves the lights needing numbers. Not only does Roxas' return become plot relevant, but so does Riku Replica. Replica could very easily decide to help Riku in the final battle and potentially, we could have a scene where Replica sacrifices himself for Riku too. Either way, I do not believe Replica will be 'bad' as such and I think he will play an emotional bond in Riku's arc. I hope you all enjoyed E3 and are well!
  20. My stance would be if they serve a purpose to the plot of either the game on a whole or merely the world then they should be voiced. If they don't add anything substantial, then remove them. I wasn't against them in previous titles, but I wouldn't miss them if they are removed.
  21. Been advocating this for a long time, but I want Kefka added to the mix, imagine walking through a poorly lit area and hearing his laugh out of nowhere. Also his intense hatred could be adapted so he hates the light.
  22. Probably going to be a Frozen world next, but I'm feeling a familiar world will be announced next and I'm feeling it's a return to Agrabah.
  23. It's no secret that a KH anime was planned ages ago and with the news that disney are in favour of a film regarding KH I sat down and thought of a few ideas, some of these are serious ideas and I'll clearly identify them and others are completely ridiculous, but hey a bit of fun doesn't hurt anyone right? Also in true KH style I came up with 13 ideas. I will briefly explain the concept of the film, then outline the positive and negatives, alas let the madness begin haha. 1) serious idea- a shortened version of the first game. I doubt the plot of the first game needs explaining, but this seems like a logical idea for a film. People who haven't played the games can enjoy a basic entry to the series ( like basic exists in this franchise) the negatives would be, we'd have to lose a few worlds in order to not make this film go on for an eternity, and it wouldn't feel fresh. I mean we've played the first game, chain of memories, re chain of memories, recoded, watched recorded, final mix, 1.5, 1.5 and 2.5, I mean come on this feels slightly over done by now! 2) silly idea- Kingdom Hearts: A Pluto Story- a film solely based on Pluto, a heartbroken dog on a mission to find his lost master, literally running away in Traverse Town, ending up who knows where and becoming a post dog by the end of the first game, actually I'd seriously watch this haha... Don't judge... Please. 3) serious idea and my ideal preference- The Fall of Radiant Garden- this event was alluded to in the first game and in the second game we see the recovery of Radiant Garden, but we haven't actually seen Maleficent and the heartless occupy the world, I'd start the film with Apprentice Xehanort forcing the others to fall to darkness ( we've seen this briefly), then with an absence of keyblade heroes ( BBS trio in peril and Sora and co to young) have the world fall, perhaps we can see Leon and the gang fleeing to Traverse Town, Kairi being sent to destiny Islands and all round destruction. The advantages would be we'd seen a missing plot piece of the series, the negatives would be less disney unless Scrooge mcduck is our main character and people would be confused if they didn't know the plot. It would be bold, but hey Rogue One took chances and imo worked. 4) silly idea- Kingdom Hearts the musical- an hour and. A half of endless singing, sora dancing and Donald having his own concert. Let's take Atlantica to another level people! Positives- might be a few catchy songs, kids would probably watch it in droves, negatives- Donald singing.... Let's move on 5) Serious idea- the events between CoM and KH2, this would be more of a sequel film if they follow the games path, however we've seen 358/2 days from Roxas' perspective, how about the other side, the struggle with Diz for his revenge, Riku to go to lengths to help Sora and Mickey's plans too. Positives, potentially we could see a moral struggle here between the characters, negatives I feel it would be dull and tbh whilst not unlikely, would be a waste of potential. 6) Silly idea- let's eat ice cream! Let's not have a film with cool fights, good plot, let's watch a bunch of characters eat sea salt ice cream for the film. Heck, we could have a master chef moment ( eating ice cream does not get tougher than this- got s feeling the brits will get this reference). Disney could release their own brand of ice cream and watxh sales shoot up, negatives, we'd probably be hungry the time this film finished 7) serious idea- the first keyblade war. This was my biggest let down with back cover, I wanted to see the war in action, make me appreciate the full devastation of the war and the aftermath. We didn't get this, so why not use a film for this? If done well this could be a good film, my positives and negatives would be similar to the fall of radiant garden. 8) silly idea- Jiminy Cricket- the Unsung hero! Follow Jiminy as he is forced to enter countless battles, take on Ansem, lose his memories and countiess other activities the poor cricket does to maintain the best journal in kingdom hearts, who needs the book of prophecies when we have Jiminy? 9) serious idea- this one is slightly unusual, but why not have a film about someone Falling to darkness ans exploring both the heartless and nobody, we could understand both concepts in either a philosophical or psychological concept and by the end make us appreciate our enemies. Positives, would be very abstract and would be cool to watch. Negatives, I doubt kids could understand this and well do we really want to have a conscience when we want to level up? Yes, yes we do now. 10) silly idea- Kingdom Hearts election time. It's election time on destiny islands and the candidates to become mayor must brave the disney worlds to woo voters, along the way the make promises they can't keep and make people feel like they'd rather have the mayor from Halloween Town. Positives, could actually work as a comedy film and wouldn't be plot related, negatives more politics and I studied politics too haha. 11) serious idea- Mickey's story. Mickey is disney's icon. He is also a main and beloved character. Now do you remember the portraits of Mickey's ancestors in Disney castle? This film could explore them and explain Mickey's ancestors and path to keyblade master. The positives, would enable new characters to be established, the return of classic characters, we could even have a black and white section of the film as homage to Steamboat Willie. We'd see the evolution of our beloved mouse and we would also see the change from timeless river to disney castle. Negatives, hard to see actually, I'm down for this. 12) final silly idea- Shakespeare Kingdom Hearts, let's send the gang to speaking olde english and performing a Shakespeare play. Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet we have a huge choice... 13) final serious idea- build up the next saga- explore either the next antagonist and their ambitions or tease us, perhaps have the key events of the film from a first person perspective and have this person assess the series. If it was down to me, I would not reveal the identity of the person, but through first person have us understand them as a character and make us want to know who they are! The positives, the series would progress onwards making People crave KH4, we'd have no new questions regarding the old saga and we could genuinely have fun and create new theories about who this person is, I'd want this film to be very mysterious and constantly make the audience work to pick up small clues. Negatives, first person the whole film could make awkward viewing, would square actually be up for this? Overall, this is mostly for fun, that being said this took ages to type up and I'd be intrigued to what others think of any of my ideas, the serious ones I'd be able to discuss more so and well the silly ones, excluding Pluto well... Haha
