  1. (I'm super late) Good point, especially with Mickey being playable. I know there were instances of party members and escort characters (like Minnie) using light in the past games, but it'd be cool to see playable characters use it more, even if it's not worked in as a common spell. I'm pretty sure Riku had a Dark Firaga variation of Grand Magic in KH3, so maybe Mickey will get something similar (I'm not actually expecting a Light Firaga though. ). It's been a while since I've played Remind, so I actually can't remember if Kairi had any GM-type light moves right now, haha
  2. I'd kinda like to see Water used more. KH has always been kinda halfway with its implementation, although maybe that's because FF has also been back-and-forth on it, never making it as much a staple as fire/ice/lightning. I get where ice technically accounts for it, but it's weird how BBS goes and gives Terra earth moves like quake and meteor and the only water move Aqua gets is that Bubble Blaster shotlock. She doesn't even get a water command style. So with the inclusion of water as Grand Magic in KH3, let's go ahead and make it a staple. lol It'll work well if Aqua, Kairi, or Xion are ever playable again, too. It'd also be cool to see other underutilized elements like earth. For being so thematically important, light's pretty underused, too, imo. Terra and Riku get plenty of dark moves, so let's get more light moves. Light Firaga!
  3. Super late response but I own KH1, COM, KH2, Days, BBS, Re:Coded, and DDD. I also own the KH3 manga vol. 2 for obvious reasons to anyone who knows me. lol Also, that's a pretty sweet collection someone has in that photo in the first post. lol But it doesn't seem to have COM or Days, which are some of the better written novels, imo, at least of what I've read thus far. Although I see a Reverse/Rebirth volume in the back, I think? So maybe those ones are in Japanese. lol
  4. While that scenario is possible, I personally don’t expect them to go that route. I think Nomura’s top priority for the story is to expand the lore (and create weird mysteries and twists), so I think he’ll mostly shelve the Nobody twists moving forward; that lore’s pretty much contained to the CoM/KH2/Days era, anyway. And I’m willing to bet whatever his plans for Demyx are, they weren’t decided on prior to KH3’s development. Even though Nobodies featured in KH3, I’m under the impression that it wasn't actually planned and it just happened that way during KH3’s development, similar to its usage of Replicas. (In other words, I’m convinced a lot of how KH3 turned out was due to Nomura having backed himself into a corner.) If there are any more alternate versions / clone characters, I expect Nomura’s going to play into a multiverse angle instead. What form that takes exactly, I have no idea. I guess I think it's more likely that Demyx the Nobody is the nobody version of whoever Human Demyx is, who could be an AU version of the MoM or someone else. I'm not really into that theory, though. lol I agree, I don’t want Demyx to be the MoM, either; Demyx being some crazy, ancient mastermind who was just pretending to be a lazy, college-age deadweight who’s surprisingly capable would steal his original character and appeal. lol I don't want the MoM to be anyone but a new character, although that greatly calls into question why his name is such a big deal. (I both suspect and fear that it's really not and it'll go down in the fandom as the biggest letdown of a mystery. lol?)
  5. Tbh, I don't miss Sephiroth, and I don't actually care that much for FF cameo battles in general; I blame that long-winded sequence in FFIV: The After Years, and the fact that Gilgamesh is always relegated to the exact same jokes and a made up "bromance" with Bartz. lol BUT, Ultimecia gets my vote. She would be so amazingly unexpected and out there, and unlike the others, she would actually get some visual changes to account for the E10+ rating. And all her magic usage could be pretty cool, graphically speaking. Honestly, the fight would probably feel out-of-place and surprisingly ominous for KH, considering she's actually really creepy (her up close attack would be scratching you with her claws) and FF8 is pretty trippy in general. A rearrangement of just about any of her tracks would be great, too. (I'd expect "The Extreme," but if they found a way to bring in the unsung hero of FF boss tracks "The Legendary Beast," it would be even more amazing.) And they can use her as an excuse to do something with Leon and bring in Rinoa, since it'd be a waste not to. lol Plus, an Ultimecia-themed Keyblade! I'm gonna be a rebel and put my second vote for Barthandelus, if not just for the fact he'd also be super unexpected and we'd get an arrangement of "Fighting Fate." lol I also think his scale could be better realized in an action game like KH over FF13. Thirdly, I'll say Kefka. Like Ultimecia, all the magic could be cool graphically and a cool (and annoying) gimmick to the fight. Assuming these boss fights get any dialogue or characterization outside of battle, having a chaotic "destroy everything CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS" villain would be refreshing compared to all the KH villains who want some sort of order or... some vague goal that doesn't involve destruction for insanity's sake. And with how long some of those KH boss fights take, they could get away with rearranging the entirety of "Dancing Mad." lol Digressing some, I'm actually one of eight people who don't really care about FF cameos in KH. I mean, if they want to bring back any of the previously introduced characters, or use new ones to fill in for Story Relevant NPC's like in KH1 and 2, then I'm cool with that. But I personally did not miss them in KH3 at all; that game was troubled and bloated enough with all the plot points, characters, and Numbered KH mechanics it needed to include that forcing in unnecessary cameos would have just been awkward (unless they were like a random, non-story related summon or something). I would also rather see more of the original characters over watered down FF characters. I concede superbosses are another thing and I wouldn't mind more of them in theory. My problem is that they'd only do it with characters I'm tired of seeing (Sephiroth) or have little interest in seeing (Lightning, Ardyn, anyone from 14 or 16 etc.). But that's a Me Problem and I won't begrudge them for doing it.
  6. I'm pretty bad at picking favorites, and this isn't much of a "moment," but the Sora, Riku, and Kairi reunion is a standout. On my first playthrough I got so excited at the building anticipation of the three of them reuniting, especially when I realized it'd been years since I'd last seen them together. (My play order was kinda weird, haha) Not even just the emotional Sora and Riku reunion, but all of it; Riku saving Kairi and Namine, Kairi throwing herself into battle without a weapon or any fighting capability to help Sora, then Riku handing her a totally girly and Kairi-ish Keyblade as the two fight their way through the castle together. And all the while he looks like Ansem but she doesn't doubt him at all, and then she helps Sora realize it's him (and Sora thinking he was Ansem but thanking him for helping Kairi anyway!!). And of course the SoKai hug, too. lol Idk, I think TWTNW is one of the series' best dungeons and has some of KH's best writing, and also peak Kairi. Why do people act like she's useless, again? In hindsight, I also feel like KH2 was the last time the three were an actual Trio, as the later games tend to break up their scenes and make them into duos. The rest of the dungeon aside, the final battle with Xemnas is also awesome, even if you only include his final form. KH2 really has the most cinematic battles in the series, so just about all of them are great moments. There are plenty of other wonderful moments, too, like Sora and Donald getting into a fight with Yao, and I just find its Halloween Town really cute, haha. I want to play KH2 again. XD
  7. I think they all look great, although the Lingering Will is the only one I foresee myself getting. XD It's weird they didn't do these back when KH3 was released. I wonder why they're making more now? Also, can we get Ven, normal Terra, and Namine sometime, too? lol
  8. I played through the game a few years ago, but I can't really remember. lol Most likely White Mage or Black Mage, although Salve-Maker was a personal favorite of mine. If we're counting when you equip a job's abilities to another one, then I'm sure it's White Mage; whenever Agnes wasn't in that one, she was in Salve-Maker or Spiritmaster with white magic equipped. As for my least used job, I'm sure it's Monk. I tried, but the RNG wasn't on my side so I gave up early on. I barely used since those came in so late and I was already pretty settled into whatever my setups were. I wasn't too keen on Arcanist, either, since it always seemed so gimmicky. Although I used it as the base job and added black magic on top of it a few times. I probably gave myself away, but I'm not one of those people who break the game. lol I just play it chill and don't want to think too hard or use guides. ...Although, I wasn't very "chill" for a good portion of my playthrough. iykyk. lol
  9. I tried FF Tactics The War of the Lions several years ago and didn’t really like it. I barely got into it, so I know it’s not fair to judge, but I just didn’t have the patience for its system, and the lack of clear instructions on how to play didn’t help. Maybe I’d have better luck these days since I played Fire Emblem Awakening a few years ago (and plan on playing some of the older FE’s), but I expect to be turned off by some elements of FF Tactics’ story, so I’m in no rush to head back. But I could see myself trying a Tactics style KH spin-off. And given the Disney association, I could see them streamlining things and making it a little easier for more casual audiences, which would be better for my impatient self. lol And tbh, I want more non-numbered / lower budget KH games again, especially ones that can include more characters than Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Riku. lol So I‘m going to vote for KH.
  10. Prior to a couple years ago, I would have said story; JRPG's were my jam and easily my preferred genre. Even during the height of my KH mania I would have said the story was my favorite aspect, despite adoring the gameplay, graphics, music, and everything else. lol Although in hindsight, I think character/character design would have been the more accurate choice, because how much I like the characters greatly affects my enjoyment of the story. Even now I have a saying: good characters can make up for a meh plot, but a good plot can't make up for meh characters. But since then, I've mostly fallen out of playing JRPG's, and adding one to the long list of games to play feels more like a chore. Do I really need another 50+ hour RPG when I already have several I need to get to? Doesn't help I'm somewhat addicted to replaying some of the Tales games. lol Nowadays, I'm all over the place with games. I've started going crazy over 2D Metroid, whose plots are near non-existent. I want to get into the Prime series, too, and I've never been into first-person shooters. lol I picked up this roguelike deckbuilder Pirates Outlaws because I was attracted to its pirate aesthetic and the charming papercraft art style. I barely even knew what a roguelike deckbuilder was! And if I ever play FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, it'll likely be because Hironobu Sakaguchi's and Nobuo Uematsu's names are on it. lol So I'm voting "something else," because what sells me now is whether or not I'm interested in the experience I think a game will give me. That might be a cheap "all of the above" answer, but every game is case-by-case and the only constant is that I'm interested in trying it. lol
  11. You probably already know this, but it's worth mentioning that, similar to the Frozen scenario mentioned above, the Disney versions are still copyrighted, so you can't use characters or worlds created for each movie. You can feature Cinderella, but not Disney's version; you can include Sleeping Beauty, but you can't include its original characters like Maleficent, etc. A Not-Kingdom Hearts where you visit different fairy tales and other literary works is a neat idea! Although specifically using worlds that appeared in KH or Disney movies, even public domain ones, might give the impression it's a KH clone and nothing more or that it's intentionally trying to deceive buyers into believing it's an actual KH game, as opposed to being its own original thing. I'd recommend combining them with properties not used in KH or Disney movies. And whatever you do, do not name it anything relating to hearts, kingdoms, or keys. lol
  12. Okay! Thank you for clarifying! The signs-ups for joining the event ends tomorrow night, but you'll have through March 2nd to finish and submit your piece.
  13. Okay, thank you! I'll definitely look into signing up then! One more question, do all written pieces have to take place in the KH universe? I noticed one of the rules mentions creating a "Kingdom Hearts-adjacent" work, so I wasn't sure if full-blown AU's were allowed, or if we should only work within the established canon setting. Sorry I'm reading too deep into all the details. lol I don't want to accidentally break any rules.
  14. Ooh, neat! I was just wondering when this would be announced. XD I've never partaken in March Caprice before, but I'm considering joining this year. How does the theme work exactly? It is just the visual theme of the event and is separate from the user-submitted content? Or does all the writings, illustrations, cosplay, music, etc. have to carry the theme of "Data?" EDIT: another question! I know it says only one art piece per person, but would it be alright to submit to multiple categories? For example, one illustration and one writing?
  15. @varxtis I'm pinging you in case you haven't seen this post yet. Someone ripped a ton of BBS voice clips.
  16. The Sounds Resource has a lot of battle quotes and sound effects, although it looks like some games only have the JP voices. Hopefully this helps! https://www.sounds-resource.com/search/?q=kingdom+hearts&c=-1&o[]=ig&o[]=g
  17. I would really like this. Lol Imo, the series needs to retire Xehanort as a character, but I also completely expect him to show up in KH4 anyway, so why not give him a great send-off like this? Plus, that would feel like a good tie-in and conclusion to Dark Road, which is currently pretty stand-alone. Acknowledging his Quadratum (after)life as his 14th life where he finally fights for the good side and truly turns around would be great. And YES! Keep Sora normal! To be honest, I don’t want Sora to be the Child of Destiny (even though I really expect it). If he can rewrite reality by distorting nature and then turns out to be some special prophesied chosen hero, I think he’s officially lost his “normal” status. …And I likely won’t understand why being officially named a Keyblade Master (which really doesn’t mean or do anything and wouldn't change anything for him) would be too special for him at that point. lol I figure the MoM plot is more likely to conclude in KH5, since KH4 will probably be all about Quadratum, etc., so I’m not sure Xehanort could actually make it past KH4 to help defeat the MoM’s overall plan, but having him play a significant role in helping Sora in KH4 (especially against the MoM in some way) and being the Child of Destiny is something I’m hoping for now. Lol
  18. Thank you! I’m glad you liked it and I could help, especially since I think I spent a little too much time on my comment. lol
  19. Is it their personalities you don’t care for, or do you find their roles in the story uninteresting? Or both? I can see where Aqua might come off as less interesting than the other major characters since she’s actually pretty normal in comparison. You have characters like Terra/Riku who struggle with self-doubt and being manipulated by darkness, Ven/Kairi who lack any darkness in their hearts, one by natural and the other by unnatural means, Roxas/Xion/Namine who are all mysterious and unusual Nobodies, and Axel who was introduced as a scheming and quirky assassin. Obviously, Sora’s more “normal” than Aqua, but he’s also the Not Special But Still Special Chosen One series protagonist. Aqua’s essentially “just” a duty-bound Keyblade Master who worries about her friends, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but her role is far-removed from being considered unusual within the lore, and I know some people often prefer mysterious and/or “dark” characters over the morally upright and dutiful ones (on the contrary, I love the morally upright and dutiful ones. lol). But despite lacking any eccentricities or mysterious qualities, I personally think Aqua’s plenty interesting just by her personality, interactions with other characters, and story themes. Considering her story in BBS is about her chasing after her friends, she’s set in more of a supportive role, but it fits with her newly given responsibilities as a Keyblade Master. It’s kinda subtle, but she learns to become a better leader; she realizes she should give Ven more space and becomes less protective, and she learns to be more flexible about situations. She worries a lot about her friends, and I know some people are skeptical of her for doubting Terra so much, but I think she made the Wayfinders in the first place to help appease her own doubts about their uncertain futures together, considering the Mark of Mastery Exam was about to be held, so her worries were exasperated by Terra’s affinity for darkness (and his failing the exam), Eraqus worrying about him, Maleficent lying about him helping her, etc. Suffice to say, I think Aqua worries a lot, but keeps it on the inside. She suffers through a situation where she earnestly believes in her friends and their connection, but she also thinks too much and lets her worries get the better of her. I think at the center of her story is her desire to preserve her bond with her friends, but it’s also about her learning to believe. Even all that aside, I just find Aqua to be really sweet and a good person. She can come off as stoic and all business, but she’s actually a girly-girl who likes flowers and kids and believes in the power of true love and will sass villains. I mean no shots at the other female characters or how they’re handled when I say I think Aqua is the most deep and well-rounded of them. I think all of the main characters are deep, but some of them aren’t given quite enough screen time to take advantage of, or they take a little more work to understand. Even just counting BBS, Aqua gets a lot of time on screen due to having her own story, along with the (greatly overlooked, imo) detail that each BBS protag has their own arc in each Disney world that usually relates in some way to their current plot and their overall character development, even if it’s small or takes reading into to see. I usually learn to like a character better by reviewing.their scenes and trying to understand their motivations, why they acted a certain way or what a line meant, etc. Noticing Aqua’s solemn expression in the background after she white lies to Ven that he’s always lived with them in the Land of Departure, or considering how she patiently and silently waits for Terra’s explanation in the Keyblade Graveyard, without accusing or questioning him first, are cool details that help deepen her character. Long story short, I just really like Aqua and her interactions with other characters. I think she has a lot of good depth, and she doesn’t need fancy lore to be interesting. I can’t say anything about Jill because I haven’t played FF16, so… yeah. lol But if you find you’re just not interested in certain characters, that’s totally okay. They may grow on you with more time, or maybe not. Try to avoid forcing yourself to like anyone, it won’t end well.
  20. I think it might be a problem with your controller? I was thinking about it, and your problem reminded me of when I'd play games using my old Gamecube controllers with worn-out control sticks and I would struggle to have a character run when the stick was pointed upwards. I just found where someone had a similar problem with KHFM on Reddit a few years ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/KingdomHearts/comments/8qp094/kh15_walk_bug_kingdom_hearts_15/ Have you tried playing with a different controller? Or maybe you can try resetting the current controller, or blowing off the control stick with a can of air? I hope your problem is solved soon!
  21. I think KHII Final Mix and Re:COM only came packaged together? So the JP version's actually the better deal, since you probably got two games for the price of one. lol If you played KHII without beating Re:COM first, then I think all the new Final Mix cutscenes were voiceless (like KH1 Final Mix's new cutscenes), whereas playing Re:COM first added the voice clips.
  22. Like what NeoLimitForm said, I think it was a matter of time and budget. If I remember correctly, Re:COM was made as a bonus game packaged in with KHII Final Mix as extra incentive for players to buy KHII a second time. Developing Re:COM's system from the ground up probably already took a bit of time and resources, which is probably why they prioritized making only the main story cutscenes voiced.
  23. Earlier this March, the global version of Line Disney Tsum Tsum introduced 3 new KH tsums: Sora & Roxas pair tsum, King Mickey (KH3 Version), and Dark Riku, who are all in the Premium Box for the remainder of the month. At present, new tsums Axel and Namine have Lucky Time going, meaning that you have an increased likelihood of pulling them from the Premium Box. At the end of the month there will be a Lucky Time for all 5 of the new tsums at once. There is also a KH themed event going called "Battles in the Tsum World," which sees you visiting various worlds from the KH series and battling Heartless. In-game KH themed pins will be awarded for clearing specific worlds. There is also a Sticker Book event coming that can only be played with the 5 new tsums, also featuring a KH theme. https://twitter.com/LINE_tsumtsum_g Sorry I'm late with this news!
  24. You're welcome! And you weren't offensive or anything, so don't worry about it! Exploring Kairi losing her Keyblade while struggling with darkness and delving deeper into the subject of sacrifice sounds pretty cool and deep. lol And reviewing characters and canon again is always a good idea; sometimes you'll find something you didn't notice before. That's definitely happened to me before, haha But in the end, it's your story, so write it how you want to. I don't want to control it and turn it into something you won't be happy with. Just have fun with it!
  25. Hey, I saw where you were asking for help with Kairi’s character, and I thought I’d give my two cents. I like the points you brought up in the other thread, like Kairi’s hobbies, her education, the idea that she could be a little too dependent and need to learn to stand on her own sometimes, and I’m always up for expanding on friendships and interactions. And exploring someone at their highest and lowest points always has the potential to be very insightful and relatable. But I don’t think the tone of the story itself fits Kairi too well? When I think about Kairi’s personality, the three things that come to mind are that she’s bubbly, pure, and mature. I feel the story’s viewpoint is a bit too aggressive for Kairi? I understand she’s hurting, but she no longer feels like a purehearted character. I think that’s a common occurrence when people try to humanize her. [unless you intend to have her lose her PoH powers after KH3, but even then, I think she’d still remain pretty pure?] I get maybe you’re going for a darker approach with her, maybe you want to explore her struggling with darkness, but it still seems too aggressive to me. I saw where you asked if she hates sacrifice, and I see where you’re coming from with that idea, but I don’t think Kairi would view sacrifice as something so completely selfish, even despite being on the hurting end of it. I think her feeling hurt over Sora‘s sacrifices is a good direction, but instead of feeling anger and hatred, I think she’d feel more guilt at the fact that Sora had to sacrifice himself for her. And that could channel into her desire to become stronger. I think Kairi has a quiet maturity to her despite all her purity, so I feel she would understand the action of sacrifice and respect her friends’ decisions, even if she wishes there was another way to do the right thing. I mean, I’m pretty sure she would sacrifice herself for any of them in a second if she needed to. And I’m not sure why Aqua gets so strict by the end? She’s a gentle soul, despite her strict upbringing and heavy responsibilities. That could be on me, though, for just not getting the insinuation there. These are just my thoughts, you don’t have to agree with them, of course. And I’m so sorry if I came off harsh at all! I think everyone has their own ideas on the traumas the main characters do and don’t, should and shouldn’t, suffer from, so everyone’s viewpoints are going to be a little different. I feel like I always disagree with the levels of guilt and trauma people give them, and I also happen to be someone who wants everyone on the happier end after KH3, so maybe I don’t even count here. Lol Regardless, I think you’ve got some cool ideas and I wish you the best with your story!
