Back in 2021 Sora finally joined Super Smash Bros. And I wondered if there was a chance to be able to race as Sora and other Kingdom Hearts' characters in Disney's Speedstorm!
Luck would have it the Disney racing game is currently sending out surveys asking for feedback on the gaming experience and there's also an opportunity to suggest Disney franchises and characters to include. I took this opportunity to recommend Sora and even suggested he could be revealed around the time when Kingdom Hearts 4 released.
So was just to see if there were any avid Speedstorm fans here and suggest doing similarly and submitting Sora as a wanted character in Speedstorm's current survey. It should prompt you to do survey with QR code when starting up the game. :)

Hey guys, I guess if you see this you also get curious or nostalgic and come back here. It's probably been like, 12 years since I posted anything, haha! I hope that all my friends on here that remember me know that I really appreciated the times that I had on here. When I was younger, I was having a really hard time with my "in-person" life and I didn't really have any a ton of friends of my own (except Lajixu of course). However, the friends I had on here really made it worthwhile! I hope that a few of you that I was REALLY close with are doing well (you know who you are) and I do come back here every few years to re-read old RPs and laugh at how cringe I was if you ever want to send a message and catch up. Thank you guys, keep on trying!

WakelessDream repliedOf course! And oooh KH-Vids I used to lurk on there from time to time but never made an account, because I'd always been so attached to this place. I do recall it being a bit more active back in the day...as was KH13 to be honest
Things are okay here, like I said it does fluctuate so you'll find some days are slower than others but it is what it is.
WakelessDream repliedI do miss those days haha! Actually yeah we actually used to have more forums on the site though as time and activity changed on here we either merged them into other sections or archived them depending on how much participation we were seeing in them.

so what’s kh13 known for? KHV was like the videos for the AMV scene before YouTube killed it with licensing
WakelessDream repliedPretty much yeah! We used to have a section called Random & Forum games that kinda sounds like Spam Zone but it’s one of those that ended up getting archived. It’s definitely okay to post fun/goofing off threads in the General forum. Honestly we’re pretty lenient about that nowadays.
KH13 I guess we’re known for our video archives as well, we had a pretty comprehensive playthrough and cutscenes archive, our news obviously too and I want to say our community too. Probably pretty similar to KHV?
WakelessDream repliedHmm maybe around the later half of 2019? I think post KH3 some folks wanted to jump ship from the series and I think you’re right that some others kind of just grew up and grew out of it. We did see a little uptick during Covid but I’d say it was negligible and then again during the KH4 announcement but otherwise it’s been kind of the way it is now.

Ah games that’s a tough one because my favorite changes every time I’m asked. I do have a soft spot for Days and BbS though. (Days maybe more so) I have fond memories of hiding under my covers playing both when I should have been sleeping on school nights
Surprised you haven’t played KH3 yet! Is there a reason you haven’t gotten around to it?
Llave repliedI was a sectional mod for a year and then promoted to super moderator until I resigned. Life stuff and work mostly, but would pop back on the site ever so often hahaha
I love the series but have been playing lots of other things plus got married and got two kiddos so just didn’t get around to it hahaha but I’m keeping my eye peeled for a good deal on psn mwahahaha
I absolutely loved days, the graphics are really dated but for a ds game it was miles ahead of other ds games. And bbs totally opened up the whole story of kh in my opinion it was so goood

Congrats on all the life milestones! It’s so funny to look back over the course of the series and see how much we’ve changed as people between then and now haha. I do hope you’re able to play the other games sometime soon and you’re able to enjoy them!
Days is such a gem. I understand some of the criticisms about it and yeah I guess you could say it’s a bit dated now but some of the character interactions were hilarious like Jack Skellington creating a Roxas inspired scarecrow or Larxene telling Roxas to go bang his head on a window.
The story and ending really got to me too. As for BbS Blank Points was such an effective build up for what was to come at the time and I really enjoyed getting to try out different play styles in Terra, Ventus and Aqua. Definitely some good times!

when did this forum start? I know kh insider was another big forum too.
I also noticed the discord links to certain threads with the bridge thing, that’s so smart and helps keep activity here now I see why it’s a little more lively here hahaha! Do you mod discord too?

WakelessDream repliedI think it started around 2008 or 2009. I also became a staff member in 2013 so the parallels keep on coming haha.
Khinsider is pretty alive and well last I checked. That’s actually the first KH forum I joined but then I found KH13 and just kind of stuck with it without looking back.
I’m glad you like the forum-discord bridge! A lot of people usually prefer one platform over the other but the integration is nice. We have a separate mod team that handles the discord moderation, but we collaborate with them for issues that might impact both platforms. So I focus more on the website, technically we can mod the discord though if it’s urgent and no one else is available!

The original owners of the site still own the site. They’re pretty chill.
That’s wild that KHV changed hands a couple times, I can’t imagine going through different owners. How was that on the community and the staff?
Llave repliedKHV started in 2005, the original owner I never knew personally, by the time I joined they had their second owner. Original guy was Deathspank and I think he was active for a bit but the second owner SPdude bought the site from him and disappeared. It was hard for the active admins to do updates to the site because there was limited power or whatever and the guy was never on. Fast forward to about end of 2011 and someone finally bought the site and was somewhat active but at the time the guy was a lot older than us so he didn’t interact too much with the community but it was a good time during his reign hahaha. I think around 2015 some other guy bought it and was a troll so the admins that have been on the site confronted him and bought the site from him so finally the domain belonged to people who were active and actually knew the community. It’s been in a few hands since then but everyone since have been notable members of the community.
overall staff had gone through phases, the 2005-2009 time was a Wild West of trolling, 2010-2017 was the most stable and professional time. Went through a lot of changes over the years but 99% of staff then were really good people. I wasn’t on much after 2017 but from then till about 2019 the big issue was cliques and discord server dividing community and making rules muddy etc. 2019 till now it’s been in hands of two guys, one whom I knew back then and had quite a personality but always a good heart and the owner was originally a coder when game shark stuff was around. Quite a tech guy. The place has died down and like I said not much activity aside from a few spurts.
WakelessDream repliedWow sounds like a pretty rich history with a broad spectrum of owners. It makes me feel a lot more gratitude that KH13 has essentially remained consistent under the original two owners/creators. I’m glad that KHV is under good ownership now, though it does suck about activity. I guess that’s just a general challenge forum sites face in this day and age with social media and places like discord being the preferred method for communication for a lot of people now. I do hope things change in the future especially in the lead up to KH4 whenever that may arrive but that’s me being optimistic.

So you guys use invision community for your website, did you guys use another forum software in the past? How long have you been using it and do you like it? I've never heard of invision.
We originally had phpBB like in 2005 i think and then after a year they bought a vBulletin account and had to start fresh so thats the official birth of the site hahaha. We had that until sometime in 2012 and imported the site to Xenforo.
WakelessDream repliedIt definitely does! Most of the people I grew close to through here moved on a few years ago but we still keep in touch. They will jokingly ask me why I’m still here but I guess because this place means so much to me I’ve been here for all these years haha.
Yep we’ve been on Invision Community ever since I’ve been on the site, I’m not sure if there was a different forum software being used in years prior but it’s always been Invision during my time here. I like it, don’t really have many complaints about it. I don’t think I’d actually heard of it before coming here as well though I didn’t frequent many Internet forums in general prior to this one.

What was your favorite things to do when the site was more active?
WakelessDream repliedHmm I guess just participate in random discussion topics with other people. When things were a bit more lively it seemed like there was a little bit of something for everyone whether it was KH related or not. One of my fav topics was a forum game called avoid the mods where regular members would count up for each post they made in the thread but if a mod came in the counter would reset to 0 and they’d have to start over. I loved letting them count up really high and then coming in at the last min to reset the counter, I’m sure they hated me for it

We'd do and talk about everything too! Lots of funny threads and groups to do things with in the forum. I did a lot of art so I was always doing commission work for avatars and signatures.
I ran a thread called the Postbox for a time which is probably one of my favorite things, people would send PMs and address who they wanted the message or multiple messages sent to and then I posted it in the thread and tagged the recipients. Lots of fun and I always liked when people addressed some to me and I'd answer and address them as anom as well as have fun with it like "Thank you whoever sent that ;D"
In general I was always the goof ball, having the perfect GIFs to reply and just being that guy to drop the silly bombs everywhere, quickly became one of the more prominent members and it was fun... wish we could turn back the clock for our sites hahaha
WakelessDream repliedI wouldn't say I was a goofball here, there were definitely other members much more deserving of that title than myself, and you were probably more likely to find me in the serious discussion topics haha, but I didn't mind goofing off and just having fun with the community with all our inside jokes and random shenanigans that would go on here.
Postbox sounds like a sweet concept! I'm sure the community over there really appreciated you running it and appreciated people sharing fun messages about them!

Yeah this has always been my username here most people just call me Wakeless since the full thing is a bit of a mouthful haha. So basically our name changing system is that anyone can change their name on their own once per year and then if for some reason they need to go through another change but it hasn’t been a year yet they can just reach out to us and someone on the team will change it given it’s a good reason like if they had personal info on their username they wanted to scrub.
Llave repliedNoice! My original username on KHV was Llave de Espada (loosely “keyblade” In Spanish it should actually be Llave Espada hahah) but over the years I trimmed it to Llave which means key.
we also have a premium membership when you got 1000 posts your username became pink (or rainbow way before my time) and had a dedicated section. I don’t see anything like that here did you guys ever have something like that at one point?
WakelessDream repliedOh that's interesting! I thought it might be Spanish inspired with the double "Ls"
So the only username color variations are those that correspond to different staff teams (blue for mods, yellow for news/archives/social media and red for Admins/Owners). We don't have a premium membership type of thing with exclusive areas for other members I'm not sure if one existed before I became a member here.
I think we probably wanted everything to be inclusive to everyone because in the past there were a contingent of people who got carried away with things like # of posts # of likes etc and kind of displayed superiority over others because of it so we didn't want to encourage stuff like that. I know it might sound kind of lame, but just sharing my best guess.
We do have an awards system so people can have cute little badges on their profiles for site achievements like # of posts and other contributions - but awards have to be distributed manually so admittedly we haven't kept up with it, its probably due for an overhaul haha.

Daniel comes on fairly frequently, I don't know if he'll necessarily engage in chit chat like you and I are having right now but if you have an issue or feedback regarding the site or discord server that you want him to look into he's usually pretty helpful and responsive.
Llave repliedSome of the pins were yeah, most of them are event and achievement related! Like when you hit premium you get the premium pin. Contests like art, music, amv video editing etc. we’d have a podcast and participants got a pin for that. Every year we did a Christmas Castle Oblivion event where you had to follow riddles to find passwords edited into the forum to unlock the subsections as levels to get to the end and you got a pin for that lol. And user awards was like an Olympic ceremony where we had rounds of voting for things like “most famous member”, “most likely to stay on KHV forever” “cutest fake couple” etc hahaha and you got a pin for that 😂
i used to help make the pins, they were out before I was staff but I took over once I was on. I liked doing that kind of stuff, lots of behind the scenes planning and designing!

Ah I think we adapted to discord well but I do attribute the launch of our discord to cannibalizing a chunk of our forum activity too. A few of us did raise that as a concern pre-launch but there was more of a push to launch the discord than to take it slowly and consider the implications on the website. I'm not against it and am glad we have a thriving community on there I think I just wish it was handled better at the time.
And Daniel, I guess you could say he's our resident tech wizard, we've always gone to him for bugs and errors and what not. But he's also a supportive admin/owner in general like I've gone to him for non-tech issues as well and he's been able to help and steer things in the right direction.
Llave repliedA lot of the events were run by staff so once they were over the I think any staff member could award pins but only Super Mods could go in the admin panel to add and delete etc.
We also have a shop in place where you can purchase it with forum earned currency but that was after I was on staff so I had no involvement with it hahaha

I'd like to give a shout out to Doctor Who on this it's 60th anniversary. It's my favourite sci-fi franchise even though it's had many ups and downs. i do sometimes wonder what would have happened if disney had bought it
