I sorta get this sense too, considering everything about MoM is shrouded in mystery. Xehanort? Nothing subtle about him. Anyone with an IQ over single digits knew he was going to be evil.

He might be someone that flip-flops between hero and villain depending on what need to be done for his plans

No matter what you think of Xehanort’s character in KH3, I think you’d have to be really stretching to believe Nomura had the same plans for him in that game that he did in BBS

I mean, Nomura writes progressively. The fact that plans changed somewhere along the line doesn't shock me at all.

He's hidden that better in the past

I can relate because I actually write the same way. I rarely prewrite. I just whip up a draft and then go back to revise it later.
