Ahhh, so anything below Tier 8 is a no no? That explains it! I don't have a picture with me, but knowing that Tier 8 is what actually does damage is a big indicator of the medals I would need. Argh, what a drag, though! D:

Yeah for any events that will actually net you decent rewards and be worth your time, they pretty much want your money or expect you to have put it so much time that you’ll have exactly what you need, or you know, could just be lucky enough right?

Well, I don't think that you can be able to give them traits with any other method than with their trait medals. Because trait medals of other characters wouldn't work on them. 

Unless you get them for the hefty cost in the Moogle Shop

There's also the special trait slot you can fill from pet training.

Yep

We also had trait packs in the Items tab on some occasions.
