Days was CoM and a tiny bit of KH2 at the end

Technically KH1 since that was when Roxas was born

It overlaps with com for the first 60 days i think

Well, it never jumped it was always in order, it was just a very long time

Whereas in 0.2 it jumps from BBS ending to KH1 ending to pre-kh3

It's a interesting perspective to go at it that way I would say back cover first and then Birth by Sleep it gives you the foretellers and everything right at the start and then they won't reappear until again way later at the very end and the whole BBS stuff also at the start which builds upon the eventual overall series

The weirdest part about playing the series in chronological order to me would have to be at BBS cus well, I mean Vanitas looks like Kh2 Sora and there’s post KH2 scenes at the very end of all the episodes, won’t be a problem if you know what’s going on but imagine if you actually told a friend to play it this way from the get go?

That's why you never tell a newcomer to play the games chronologically

release order just works

Or you could live on the edge and play in what ever order you feel like while playing multiple at the same time like I did for optimal confusion

Play II before Days.
It's like Crisis Core: knowing the main character will "die" no matter what makes the whole game devastating

I think having seen Roxas's life in Days before KHII's prologue makes the latter less devastating. What makes this moment beyond depressing is that he learns everything he thought he knew was a lie. Like he thought he had a real life but he "lived" for a few days in a simulation. If you already know he had a full life before, it's less impactful I think

So the only way to play days again would be to get the ds version right?

The fact that Square placed Days in 1.5 and 2 in 2.5, thereby encouraging millions to experience Days first aches my heart

I was thinking about this last night and why do so many side games have fake-out final bosses? It detracts from the whole ending of a game imo.

Like Days, coded, bbs and ddd all have fake-outs and sometimes it felt like they had a final boss in mind but last minute threw in another boss

Ddd and bbs I get but yeah days and coded just felt like they had the whole idea of how it needed to end and then went oh wait we need just oooone more for story’s sake

I mean with bbs, you had this climactic battle between aqua and Terranort and then just oh yeah this random heartless creature. Roll credits

DDD I would maybe give a pass to but even still, you had anti black coat, 2 phases of Ansem, then Young Xehanort. Boom, then they tossed in armored ventus nightmare which was a cool fight, but I feel like should have been done after anti black coat and before ansem
