lol

how is a ui menu a spoiler?

How is anything in vii a spoiler lol

new characters new story new areas and possibly new powers?

Damn right you suppose!

What counts as a spoiler is subjective

One person may think anything about the game is a spoiler for them. That includes how the menu looks or a character looks. So :samshrug:

Aerith dying could be a spoiler if you are a child sorasunglasses

Better they sympathise with her watching her mother die before her instead of knowing and going 'oh hey Jenova called, she wants her Holy Kebab'

pain

Tbh I get your point on the cinematic vibes, a lot of the music in SE remakes especially sometimes lose a log of the original's feel. Though I dont really think its ineffective in 7's case. Haven't heard Mako Reactor but the others are pretty great. Tbh 7 also gave off the feeling it was trying to be very cinematic. Look at how the cinematic are shot. Especially the first scene with the pan out of Midgar. The chase scene on the motorbike. SE always tries to be cinematic with a lot of the newer FFs in terms of presentation. So it's not a bad thing if the game sounds like it. Fair if you think it has become more generic but tbh the reason ff7 has such unique music is because they were still experimenting with ps1 hardware. So some of the music sounds more creative or innovative I guess.

if you're talking about the ingame music i'd like to know where you are able to hear it clearly cause every firetrucking vids on youtube have an annoying dude or girl talking over it

I mean sure theres moments of tension but that's not solely a horror game thing. That can very much be inspired by it though. And I do think it was to be fair especially sephiroth first intro into the game

And you have some great tense tracks

That doesn't mean it wasnt trying to be cinematic. I never said anything about limitations, I talked about getting creative with the new medium they were using.

I think it's far too quick to say they are doing less

That's unfair

And if it changes the feel that's fine. It's a remake. It's a new direction. This is isnt ps1 ff7. The game is not following the same structure as the original.

Like how exactly can reorchestrated music be doing less? Because its something they are more familiar with?

Like you said there was higher production value so a lot of effort is still involved.

I mean I appreciate the atmosphere 7's music lends to it but I dont completely agree that its doing less.

A lot of what you said applies to the direction of the scene

As you said it changes the feel but the entire game is clearly changing the feel from what the trailers have shown.

I mean that's fair, it's a valid point of criticism. I still personally think you're trying to argue this in the context of the original. Cause a lot of what you are saying about pacing and uses of silence to heighten a sense of atmosphere is very much in line with what was portrayed in the original and how that played into the overall story. Like you said yourself it is possible that how this is all presented is because we are only seeing the start of a larger story.

I do tend have issues myself that some of the remixes SE has done in the past has taken away the impact of certain scenes. It is definitely something to be wary about.

From a solely gameplay standpoint the battle system is more engaging than what it was. The ability to freely control and adjust your gameplay style via the multiple unique characters is something that will get ppl more connected to characters like Aerith.

Which in itself adds to the impact of later events.

At the end of the day, we are looking at a game that is handling all the set up that took 5 hours to do in the original and turning it into at least 20 hours of set up. Elements are going to change and they arent going to make use of certain tools if they dont fit the situation or the direction they want to take it this time.

I mean

Just because they are similar doesn't mean anyone "stole" any idea

Watching the trailers for this game is really getting me hyped for it! And I think that there's going to be a lot of new material included to expand upon the original, and I'm honestly all for it!

I am honestly excited for FF7R and the trailers havent actually shown that much, if we are to assume the game is a decent length

Yeah, the game looks like it'll definitely be insanely fun to play!
