Why do developers even acknowledge people that say/send shit like that? Why can’t we acknowledge the people who have legit worries and criticisms and actually have a discussion about something instead of pointing the finger and low key being like “wow some of y’all are awful so secretly this gives us a reason to not listen to anything, but now you know that we know and we’re just gonna let the very small minority ruin the chances for positive change good day”

And Insomniac has done an amazing job on the Spider-man game so far, them changing the face model should give them some benefit of the doubt

Insomniac has listened to fan feedback before

And they will continue to do so in the future

But getting death threats should absolutely not be ignored, it should be called out because it's an asinine thing to do

While it's true that the threats are most likely just empty words, it's still a shitty thing to get. And this isn't just one developer get it. That guy in the tweet is the director, but now imagine being the new face of Peter Parker. That guy has been harassed and gotten death threats since the announcement. He can't do anything about changing the model, he just took a job and that's it.

The gameplay, story and performances are still the same

Death threats, no matter how empty, should never be ignored. While it can fuel some of the people making the threats, it can also show other people that this shit is happening and at least recognize it needs to be gone.

It's already stressful enough to be a developer, having to go through all the harassing and death threats on top of that is not healthy at all.

Like I get that acknowledging it is important to some extent but when it’s done publicly and all the while it’s almost as if it’s being used to deflect away the issue at hand that even spawned the threats in the first place... it’s like okay they know that the people they are threatening know... and now the fans know... so then, what like what even happens here? Assholes get some weird sense of validation and they might not do it again? Or worst case scenario, they like that it wasn’t ignored and continue to do so, and yeah I know that it’s important to have the whole “there’s real people here making games” talk but like god how many times does it need to be said y’know?

Like I get it’s awful but I feel like half the time they just stress themselves out even further by paying attention to people like that, but I just find it wack how stuff like that is usually able to get more attention then the loads and loads of people who try and be nice and civil who just want some kinda conversation to be had about why x, y and z is the way it is

People at Insomniac are clearly fans of Spider-man, so they do pay attention to the fans both the bad and good stuff they read. Which is even more of a reason to call out shit behavior like death threats.
