what the heII is this company taIking about

Same here, really reminds me of the Tenchu games on ps1 and 2

I read somewhere it was supposed to be a Tenchu game but they decided to make it a different IP

Oh it was originally? No wonder the game mechanics and vibe feel familiar

went to the round1 in my area for the first time to check out which games they had. the one i was scared they wouldnt have was theatrhythm but they did have it so of course i played for a bit and got a new PB on this song. was super tempted to grind out the all crit but i was on a time crunch with stuff to do after lol

i also got a new PB on this in DDR and also is the highest score I've gotten in general for the game

eyyyy nice going!

Well I finally finished Octopath Traveler last night. Although... it's more like I finished it 'to my liking.' The game gave me credits after I finished one of the Chapter 4's. I did the rest of them obviously. But once credits roll... I consider the rest of the game post-game and tend to not do it except in specific circumstances. This isn't one of them. 'True final boss' or not it's still technically in the post-game as far as I'm concerned and I'm just not doing it. Besides... I have literally no motivation to continue to playing this game. It makes me not want to play anymore HD-2D games. But feel free to convince me other wise if you think you can do so. Or at least when it comes to Live A Live. Either way... I also started my next game last night. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. The first game obviously. It's technically a replay but it's been so long since I've played it that it really doesn't matter. It'll be interesting to see how it still holds up to all of the new(er) Tales of games I've been playing. Either way... it's kind of weird and cool at the same time to be playing it again lol. My personal final score for Octopath Traveler: 7/10. A little too much grinding and not exciting at all.

i felt the same way about the true final boss in that game, mainly because it required me to actually level up the entire squad enough to fight it so i just didn't

but as for hd2d, it's literally just an art style, not gameplay

all the others will have differing styles of gameplay and mechanics

it's just bringing the classic jrpg back in a nicer fashion

the depth of fieId in these games makes my eyes hurt

i think they've started to improve on it after octopath

it hasn't bothered me much in the demo of triangle and the trailers for the others

I'm just not convinced at all right now when it comes to Live A Live 🤷‍♂️

and even the mobile octopath game

i mean that's on you, you do you lol

I'm just saying the gameplay is

literally not the same

I also gave up on it farily early. I wanted to have faith in Octopath as a modernized 90's-era JRPG, but it just ends up being really boring.

I played a game recently on Apple Arcade that was the same way. "Fantasian" I think it was called...

It lost me almost immediately due to the story. Just feels like a bunch of recycled trops. Protag with amnesia, tech taking over the world, mysterious force making people randomly evil, blah blah blah...

Like I haven't seen that a million times. Each.

I mean I at least finished it. In terms of each characters stories. I guess. I suppose it depends on if you count the 'true final boss' as part of the story or not

it does have a bit of extra story but it's also like

it got extremely convoluted for no reason when everyone's stories were all relatively simple

Strangers of Paradise was a bunch of firetrucking nonsense but it was a glorious bunch of firetrucking nonsense

I love this game

That last act of the game was so good

do you have another game (or maybe a show/movie) to compare the firetrucking nonsense to?

I don't really have one I can compare it too

There's something I really enjoy about SoP being a firetruck all nonsense game
I can't wait to get to it

I guess one way is to imagine Birth by Sleep but with the cheesiest dialogue with the characters that leads to a set up for the FF1 game

That's the closest comparison I have

How does it play in terms of gameplay?
