Idk aside from animated movies and movies based on books (ooh and foreign horror movies) I just find them a bit boring....

maybe it's just the movies I've seen lately, but I'm not used to revolving around one plotline for an hour and a half

I guess I'm just a TV person. I love TV shows because you kinda have all that time to just get completely sucked in and to experience their world

while movies just happen, then they're gone

Hey man all I care about is respecting and protecting other people's opinions, no matter how I feel about them. After all, I'd want the same to be done for me : P

This thread turned from "The Unpopular Opinion Thread" to "This is my opinion and if your opinion clashes with my ideals you are a complete jerk of a human being thread" lol

Well I'm turning it back! And if people don't like it I have a knee they can bend over!

o_O Hmmmm I'm debating whether or not I'm scared.

My unpopular opinion is that I never post opinions anywhere for any reason if I'm not open to elaborating on or defending them, and if that people hate debate so much, they just shouldn't say anything.

i feel like the whole thing about discussion over an "unpopular opinion" seems very normal on a public area because of course no ones just going to sit their and shit if they see something that they feel very passionate about be discussed

people either take two types of routes on this thread whenever something like that happens:

they make an "unpopular opinion" that counters that statement

or they go quote and confront the person correctly about said opinion

i mean like if you said an opinion here in the first place in the public you're probably either wanting someone to see it, someone to agree with it, or someone to fight you about it anyway

I think that, sooner or later, there needs to be a Star Wars game where we get to play as the Tusken Raiders. Seriously. Can you imagine a Tusken Raider Jedi? Waiving a lightsabre over his/her head and doing that awesome warcry? It would scare the pants off anyone.

The Thing Is That There Can Be No Fighting In This Thread. Just Indirect Counters Through Opinions.

yeah but what i'm saying is that it's kind of stupid for it to be that way

if you're not willing to be confronted about it and all you're expecting is a medal and like WOW UR SO RIGHT! then it's probably a piss poor idea to post your opinion

y'know

in public

Yeah but isn't this thread supposed to just post unpopular opinions freely? Idk I think if anyone has a problem with it they can always just PM the person.

i just feel like its pointless

i mean, like i said, why post an "unpopular opinion" unless you want some form of recognition or attention anyway, if it's so controversial

i guess to blow out some steam, or what have you

but i feel like having it just closed to discussion makes it pointless in having it in a public area that's designed for conversation, it's not like making a private journal on some site or making one with the comments disabled.

Yeah but that's what this thread is for xD So I wouldn't be expecting people to start fights, 'cause the purpose of the thread is to state the unpopular opinions. Idk I just don't blow up on anybody HERE, because I don't feel like it's the right place and hen again I wouldn't want someone to do it to me.That's true, but someone could like always just create a separate status/thread for that. Idk I thought this thread was just to state unpopular opinions but not debates but eh. People must be really patient with me then because I haven't gotten any crap for bad mouthing RWYB lol

it normally only comes up whenever it has to do with some more of the controversial social issues and what noti personally mostly go out of my way to reply to stuff that pisses me off when it deals with art or music, probably because it means a ton to meso if any lil shits say something about Picasso being shit because of his cubism work ill tear you a new onebut the nature of the thread itself is just flawed when it comes to the idea of closed discussion on a forum built around the stuff

I think the line really lies in between of what is debating and what is fighting.

The image Bee posted in response to Pretium wasn't really something someone would use in a debate so much as it was a provocation.

Eh whatever floats your boat then. No opinions really piss me off here because of the title, I'm pretty much already expecting everything xD

The idea of the closed discussion when it comes to opinions is really... cowardly, I think.  On one hand, I understand that people should be free to say what they want, but on the other hand, you're not stuck in a void where your words and actions have no affect on anyone.  In fact, that's a pretty scary and sad place to be.

When you post something for everyone to see, it's going to resonate with someone, for better and for worse.  And when it resonates for the worse, what, are they gonna just twiddle their thumbs when they see something that goes against them?  "Ohh but it's the internet internet discussion is pointless cuz its impossible to change anyones minds and" yeah okay shut up.  I don't care if it's not face-to-face, real life interaction.  Someone still took the time to compose their thoughts--stupid as they can be--and post it for everyone to see, under the assumption it will get a response.  I don't understand how internet discussions should be undermined just because it takes place over the computer.

It also undermines a possibility I think more people should consider: that maybe your mind can be changed.  You're not always going to be right.  Why should we respect someone's opinion when it's founded on bullshit, when it actively or passively hurts others?  Why shouldn't we argue against it?  Because the opinion is yours?  I honestly believe that's arrogance, because it assumes you cannot possibly be wrong.  You can have conviction in your beliefs without being stubborn and closed-minded.  They're not one in the same.  Know the difference.

I believe in the power of debate.  If we all just twiddled our thumbs, not trying to persuade anyone of anything, why bother expressing anything at all?

I love debates but I just hate seeing one person getting mauled and it soon turns into an attack and a,"majority rules, everyone hop in and pick on this dude". Ehh I don't know I'm just too much of a softy, if I see one person against like five others I kinda just roll my fat ass in and white knight it :,D

i think the worst part is after the argument when everyone is just being all snooty and passive aggressive over the whole thing
