Do you prefer Japanese or English Dubs?

Posted

We all know this same question.

English dubs are alright for me, as long as 4kids, Cartoon Network, and DisneyXD stays away. (Except Adult Swim. Let them dub good anime.)

I don't really mind Japanese dubs that much, I'm watching Digimon with English subtitles. The only thing that ticks me off is that DisneyXD gets Digimon Xros Wars. (ANOTHER SEASON THEY WILL SCREW UP.) Look what they did to Digimon Masters, No one likes "Marcus" since he promotes animal abuse. THAT AND NO GOOGLES.

Dubbed if it's available, because I'm not a weeaboo.

  • It really just depends. Cowboy Bebop sounds sexy in English, so I don't mind it. If the main character has an annoying and nearly unbearable voice, then I'd prefer to switch over.

  • There are just as many shitty Japanese dubs as there are English dubs in my opinion, so I prefer both depending on the quality of acting.

I prefer English dubs so I can focus on what's hapening and not subs. I watch both either way, though...

I prefer my animes with the original Japanese dub and English sub.

To me, it's the voice acting ability. If they can't voice act in either language, it's a piece of crap to me. >.> Like Jason Dohring, Willa Holland and Leonard Nemoy.

Anything unrelated to 4kids is good. They can ruin perfect animes.

But generally when I watch anime I watch japanese dubs. The voice actor are generally better, and I can understand the characters emotions. The maniac screams/laughs, etc. are always awesome..Also there's too much editing. Screw the kids, I want my swearing Hidan and extreme blood losses. >.>

I like the english dub better, because it's easier to understand, & english dubbed anime is more appropriate for kids, opposed to the original japanese dub. For example, in Naruto Shippuden, the japanese version, some scenes involved blood. In the dub, the blood was taken away, replaced by moaning.

WHO SAVED ONE PIECE AGAIN? I FORGOT.

I like japanese dub but I like english dub better.

FUNimation, IIRC

THANK GOD!

Well, I usually watch things with English sub or just no subs if I'm feeling adventurous, but I don't have a problem with English dub if it's done well. I guess I judge case by case. Usually I just go with subs, though.

Eh both is fine for me. As long as the English dub doesn't suck ass! If it does I'll find the English subs on youtube. Also with English subs I can learn a little Japanese by listening to them. Though it takes a while, a great hearing ability, and a heck of a memory, to get a sentence in Japanese by just listening to it and then listening to another one.

English, give english me english or give me death.

but preferably english

-shrugs- Doesn't matter to me, although I do tend to lean towards English dub more for the simple reason that I don't want to have to read and watch what's going on. Waaaaaay to lazy for that.

Japanese, because the English dubs always turn the shows into things for little kids. Besides, the Japanese voice acters are much better. Except for joshua, he sounds so awesome in English <3

for me it depends on how i saw it first, but most of the time its english dub but i still go back and watch in japanese too and vice-versa.

I'm fine with both and can definitely agree that the Japanese dub has more emotion put into them. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png

Though sometimes I wonder. . . .

. . . .

. . . .

what the Japanese think of their dub. Do they think its awesome like we do or do they by some weird chance think our dub is superior?

(the following example may seem out of place so please forgive me  )

Japanese dub all the way. With English subtitles. xD

Some Eng dubs are better, for example, the eng dub for Monster was AWESOME.

It depends on the anime, whether I feel like reading or not, and the voice actors.

I automatically will not watch anything with Vic Mignogna.

I will watch everything with Crispin Freeman.

Also Adult Swim doesn't dub anything :/ They just air the anime. I'm pretty sure Bleach and Naruto are dubbed by Viz Media, Durarara was dubbed by FUNimation and yeah.

There are just as many shitty Japanese dubs as there are English dubs in my opinion, so I prefer both depending on the quality of acting.

I prefer English, because I like to hear people speaking in a language that I understand, and not just reading the subtitles.

I watch them with no sub or dub and make up my own words.

I always watch the few animes I like with Japanese dubs.

And english subs of course.

I dont like subtitles and i dont understand japanese so much so i prefer english dub....But i dont watch anime so often....There is another option for me to watch anime in my native language or czech(wich is almost same) but it usually suck and i can watch only few seasons in that language....Here is how the czech dub sounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzJRgoHupv4

I generally prefer English dubs, although there are some pretty awful ones out there (*cough*Narutaru*cough*), so I guess it really ends up depending on how good each version is.
