Do you ever feel guilty about some of the bad things you have to do to characters in the games you play?

Hm... Sometimes I guess so. Like in Suikoden V when we have to kill a certain person, when we found out she was just trying to help :/

    • Yes, I won't play games where I have to be evil.

One time while playing Call of Duty World At War (I think) I killed one of my men by complete accident with a bazooka.

1) I was shooting at the enemies running down the hill, and he was in the way

2) I didn't realize my gun changed on me. My normal gun wouldn't have killed him.

I felt horrible! But I couldn't stop laughing....

+ I play dating sims so I can make all the girls fall in love with me, marry one, and then still hit on the other girls just to piss them off.

+ I like to kill pedestrians just to see them run into terror.

+ In DDD, I plan to use one save file to be nice with my dream eaters, and the other save file to screw with them to see how much I can corrupt them.

.... No, I don't feel guilty at all :D

Depends. If they have a face and some personality, yes. Otherwise I'm downright sadistic.Prototype is one of my favorite games for a reason.

Haha yeah, sometimes. I even sometimes feel bad in those RPGs with no fighting (e.g. Harvest Moon, Ace Attorney, etc.) when I make another character sad. One thing that took some getting used to for me was killing humans in Crisis Core. Ah, and don't get me started on when...

I had to kill Angeal.

I was like whhhhaaaaattttt????? D':

And all this is pathetic, really, considering I'm feeling bad over a bunch of 1's and 0's. xD

tutti frutt. Me I am at the point where it doesn't really faze me in any particular way. I often switch between good and evil to get a better outlook on the game itself and to see if doing so helps getting better in the game. But then there are games, such as GOW, where you pretty much have no choice but to completely victimize someone just to get through the game. But then there are games, even if you are good, you are backstabbed by someone in the story, one example is Zeke in inFamous 1. But either way it doesn't really get to me that much.

Well before I started to get to know Dragon age very well, in how to avoid horrible situations, I got to this part in the game where a town called red cliff was being plauged by undead, when I finally got into the castle it turned out the the culprit was a young boy that have the skills of a mage but had been possessed by a demon. Because his mother kept all this a secret the situation got out of had and because I had failed a certain mission these were my only 2 option:

Kill the child and the demon with it

or

Have a mage that was imprisoned in the castle use blood magic on the mother in order to enter the spirit world where the demon resides, which takes the mothers life.

I chose the second one either way I didn't like nor feel good about the results,

what would you guys have done? besides starting over and doing that mission right so that everyone walks out of there ALIVE.

I only feel bad hen I have to kill someone I like and such. Other people I don't care about.

The second. It's obviously the mother's fault it got so bad, and so she has to pay for her actions.

zeke... infamous 2...

Whenever I accidentally hit a cucco with my sword in LoZ, I apologize to the screen.

And when Koromaru is knocked unconscious in P3, I get all sad and revive him right away.

I would never hurt an animal

That being said, I love to eat them

I only feel bad hen I have to kill someone I like and such. Other people I don't care about.

That what I was thinking when I first played this part

Meh, not often. Usually, I feel more remorse for the character that I am playing as if something bad happens to him/her/it. i.e., permadeath in Fire Emblem. ;_;

I made a save file on Infamous 2 where I'm being completely and totally evil. It's kinda fun to kill everyone and destroy everything, but I also feel bad for the people.

And in Re:coded I hated having to fight the final boss

Roxas. I don't like defeating him, he should win!

It would depend on thier own personality, how well I identify with them, and....wether or not I feel like being evil.

Like Skyrim, where I murdered my good friend in the namec of a Demon-God. Do I feel guilty? Not really. I also got awesome armor for it too.

Oh yeah, I was playing fire emblem and a guy who had become one of my favourite characters (but was also unfortunately the weakest) died. I was like "NOOOOO!!!!!" and turned the game off without saving.

Dude how can you feel good about that I would feel awful,of course it's just a game, an extremely awesome game, but still even if there was some profit in it I wouldn't do it.

*lost to Riku on purpose in Days several times & during the Anti Riku match*

......Nope, no regrets as of yet. c8

I could've played the game like an adult and just go through the story but instead I felt joy in killing people and running them over while being chased by the police like the inner kid in me wanted.

Grand Theft Auto for those who couldn't figure it out.

well it depends who am I fighting like the final boss for aqua I was like noooooo!!!!! I was saying sorry through out the whole battle but lol!!!!

I can't really vote, because I can't remember a time when the character I was playing was unjustified in their actions.

I mean, the instances I've felt bad I guess were like at the end of Days and I guess Re:coded. But it's different, 'cause in those cases, neither main character wanted to fight their opponent, and were forced to do it. I felt the worst about Days though. xP

End of BBS? For Aqua in the Final Episode? I guess, but it was too epic to argue with (if...that...makes any sense xD).

I never play games where it's a requirement to be an evil Darkness-using mage of utter villainy. If a game has an evil mode, I'll play it on my second or third playthrough. I honestly never do evil in a video game until it's over.

That's why I like to play games with a moral choice system. This way, I can always be good and never feel guilty O:)

I'm playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning at the moment and I'm playing as the classic thief. Stealing from innocent people, killing a few guys, I even joined the thief faction in the game. I do take my role very seriously where if I do a quest for some guy and he gives me a terrible reward or he takes the item he needs and doesn't pay good gold then I kill him and loot the corpse and take everything but it's all in good fun I guess.

For games like Dragon Age, I try and do the right thing like if a guy deserves to die then he dies, simple.

I didn't like the part in DA2 where you had to track down some guy to find your mother, I remember just shaking my head in both disgust and anger because I hated what Bioware made me go through. It was just too painful to watch what happened to her. :l

i hate having to kill a popular character in games, if i get the choice wether my character dies or an ally dies, i'd normally choose my character

It depends. I'll tear a man in half with glee in God of War, but I actually felt bad about some of my decisions in Heavy Rain.

I guess it pretty much comes down to what's happening and who the... victim... is. Gansters in LA Noire and Majini in Resident Evil? BLAM!

Xion... that was pretty tough...

Everytime I realize I made the bad choice in a bethesda game.

*Kill Lucus Sims for his gun.

Son: "Daddy no!"

Me: WHAT HAVE I DONE!

*Blow up Megaton

Dad: Son, I am dissapoint

Me: :(
