North Carolina has now BAN gay marries, Now when I first seen this I just got home like what 20 mins ago and then I go on facebook and see this girl who will not be named saying marring the same sex is gross.. And this guy saying lesbo are 'hot.'But at the same time he don't believe in marring the same sex.

So now I'm pissed off then wait for it.

I hear there's an "Gay therapy." Not to you know.. Help gays.. it's to make them NOT be gay. Five mins later

I hear there's this asshole who says. "If your son is being gurlish punch him."

So.. I want to know do you think this is fair?

this is very unfair. Just because someone likes the same gender doesnt mean they are wako or nothing. They just have a different love interest, people shouldnt try and change them and ban them. That is just wrong. People have the freedom to love who they want to love.

I actually live in NC and i didn't vote. So, i guess i don't have the right to really get angry on the matter, despite the fact that my vote would've done nothing in the 61-39 percentage difference in votes. I am not gay, so while this doesn't really affect me it affects a lot of other people. The amendment affected more than just homosexual couples, as well. It affected children that could no longer acquire certain health care benefits, because of certain civil unions no longer being recognized by law. While I am glad that we live in a country that gives us the right to choose, I am disappointed that the majority of voters were so close-minded. I don't think that it's necessarily right that we are given the right to decide whether or not someone else is allowed to be happy.

It isn't really fair because banning it does more harm than it does good.

This law wouldn't have effected me in any way but even so I would have still voted against it because it's not really a person's right to have a say in what another person can do in their lives when it comes to the terms of marriage. It's their decision alone, not a collection of random voters'. :U

How stupid is it that in a country all about choice, tolerance, and acceptance, we give people the right to vote on if someone is allowed to love someone else. How is it okay to give people the "right" to shoot down others? Especially since I can't think of a single way that homosexuality can harm a straight person. I'm straight myself, but this is just ridiculous.

I have two things to say: As an American this disgusts me because it goes against the very principles of our country: that of equality under the law. And as a Southerner (though not from the Bible belt thank god), this disgusts me because now people will start to say that all southerners are homophobic bastards.

In addition, all those people who use the bible for their justification are really quite pathetic. The Bible contains a lot of material that, if we are to take them literally, must be used in its totality, not in sections that are taken completely out of context. Thus I pose the following questions:

1. For the States where it is illegal to be married/in a civil suit should we reinstate slavery in those states?

2. Should we start to burn people who are not virgins when they get married?

3. Should we start to stone people who commit infedelity?

Or should we accept the message that is given to us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

I'm not sure that everyone who voted for the amendment to pass, was a "bible thumper." While some of them were, you need to remember that not all of them were. I don't think that it's right to hate on them for their beliefs, no matter how illogical they may sound to some. But, that's the thing. You're talking about homophobic Christians, when religion shouldn't be brought into this. It just creates a barrier between people, whether you are Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, Buddhist, etc. This isn't a thread about religion, it's a thread about a political amendment. I'm not trying to start a war, or anything. I'm just kindly asking that you please don't bring religion into this, otherwise things can get out of hand very quickly.

Understandable. Oftentimes it's difficult to portray what one really means when simply posting on the internet, especially since few of us have prior connections to one another or know much about each other's backgrounds. On topic, however, I believe that homophobic Christians aren't homophobic due to their belief system, but rather due to their cultural and/or social upbringing. They justify homophobia the way many Christians way back when would justify slavery using scriptures. Most of homophobia in general is simply a cultural phenomenon, and as soon as it stops being the norm, it will be changed. Many people who voted against homosexual marriage were probably simply having trouble coping with change or difference, because let's face it. Change is scary. I don't think we should be really mad at them though, but rather feel sorry for them that they are so scared of change that they would fight it tooth and nail, even if it poses no real threat to them.

Actually, although it's true that the younger generation, especially those interested in fantastical games such as Kingdom Hearts, are more accepting of homosexuality than perhaps other demographics, I'm afraid that this poll and these messages aren't truly representative of the kh13 community. Those who express a different opinion regarding the amendment would feel pressure from all of us on the thread, especially since it's unanimous. Even though we aren't actually there with them, the peer pressure would highly influence them not to say anything against the shared opinion of the group. This may force them to reconsider their views, or they could simply check the thread and leave.

Well as long there are closed minded people things like that will always happen. If you are not for it that's fine. You are entitle to your opinion but doesn't mean you can deny someone to get marry. Even if you think it's gross, or wrong, or w/e But things like this take time. People need to learn to adapt. Like letting people of different colors, women to vote. And other things along those nature in the past. Things change and people try to ignore it as long as they can. Because change is a hard thing to do.
