If Roxas was just going to attack Riku why would he give him one of his keyblades. Apparently it was to fight the neoshadows but then why didn't he just summon the keyblade back when fighting Riku he could have left him defenseless. Ugh I don't get it.

o.o I have the game and I didnt pay attention that roxas gives the oblivion to riku, hahaha and I play the 3 versions of the game(jap, pal, usa) including that I watch that scene like 342534 times, and yeah like you expect I dont know the answer lol

Maybe roxas wasnt thinking straight during that time but i didnt really pay attention to that part

Roxas may not have completely 'grasped' the concept of recalling his keyblade at optimal times, hence why he is surprised when Sora recalls his during their fight, which allows him to be taken down. I'd say he just hasn't mastered his keyblade use.

I think it was actually Xion that caused Roxas to give Riku the Oblivion. The same way she was able to speak to Riku despite being gone. So maybe he couldn't recall it because she didn't want him too. She knew Roxas wasn't strong enough to take Xemnas on without rejoining with Sora, so she let Riku beat him. Does that make sense to anyone else?

I like this idea, it makes the most sense.

I always assumed it was just to make it a fair fight, but I can see why that doesn't make great sense.

it would have been pretty cool though if riku had lost , we would be able to possibly fight xemnas :P

I always figured Roxas was trying to make Riku remember Xion...

It's pretty much what Sora_Kuno and Rob said.

It was because of Xion.

  • When Roxas tries to do what Xion has asked of him, Riku hears Xion’s voice asking him to stop Roxas. Why?
We have to look at things in order. First, the reason why Roxas throws a Keyblade to Riku, and we then see a vision of Xion, is that there is a small remaining part of Xion in Roxas that wants to stop him, and makes him take those actions. The name of the Keyblade that is given to Riku suggests that it has something to do with Xion. Xion wants Roxas to set Kingdom Hearts free, but doesn’t want him to face Xemnas right away. She sees that he would most likely lose. So she begs Riku to stop him.

Listen to Rob . He speaks the truth .xD

I seriously think it is because Roxas wanted to even the battle?

I always thought it was because he couldn't destroy the neoshadows by himself because there were too many, but the thing that doesn't work with that is Roxas has been annihilating heartless all throughout the game so a bunch of neoshadows shouldn't have been any problem for him.

if Roxas can beat saix with most of his power gone im pretty sure he can beat xemnas when he started to dual wield

nvm I forgot about the rest of the organization

I thought that Roxas was doing a very poorly done Strike Raid that Riku caught.

Either that or Roxas lost a lot of brain cells from all of the times he passed out and all of the emotional scars left by betrayal and Xion's death. Or he's just plain stupid.

I agree with the Strike Raid... clearly that's not what was happening but I seriously thought it was some failed attempt at an attack when I first saw the video.

The whole scene itself makes no sense. How does someone run up the side of the building? Do the laws of gravity not apply? How does Riku jump off the building and land completely unharmed? How does Roxas also jump off the building completely unharmed? And if Riku was just going to come down and fight the Heartless anyway then why did Roxas go through all the trouble of running up the side of a building? Why not just wait for Riku to come down on his own? Or shout something to Riku... something like "Hey, you with the blindfold! I'm about to be killed by these Heartless! Get down here and help me out, would you?!"

Not to mention that I don't see how those heartless were even a serious threat...

Because they get along....

It may have just been an added bit from Nomura, since Oblivion is supposed to represent Sora's memories of Riku. It would make sense since Riku is trying to save Sora that he would use a physical manifistation of the bond between himself and Sora.

I don't think he completely master Keyblade summoning so when Xion threw Oblivion to Riku through Roxas, he couldn't call it back.
