Why do we even like this series?

Posted

It seems to me we should have more reasons to hate it than not. Thanks to the recent posts, I'm honestly clueless.

I understand it's flaws. But it doesn't make me hate the series. I love the whole series. I actually like it spanning over many different games. It gives me that feeling of mystery because I don't know what is going to happen next. I love that sort of thing and I love being surprised. I also really enjoy how the battle system changes in each game but keeps that KH feel.

It was the first game I completed (when I was younger and my dad was with me i'd get to a hard part and ask him to do it, so I didn't complete any of them myself until after he left and I redid them myself)

It was the first RPG/&Fighting game I played

I loved the storyline, I would like to see it in a movie.

I'm a girl, I like the Disney aspect.

It had a large fanbase of cool people I had something in common with

I met my first 2 boyfriends through the common interest in KH (we wouldn't have started talking if it wasn't for it). I met 6 of my good friends (2 are best now) through an interest in it as well.

Kingdom hearts has been good to me (Y)

Because KH is one of, if not the best videogame series of all time? >.>

Because Kingdom Hearts is amazing. I love the the complex plot, and the way it has characters I love and love to hate. Yes, it does have flaws, but it's kinds like what Axel says in Days. When you like something, you're willing to put up with the flaws.

Indeed you are correct sir.

Because the big fat meanie said so :I

Kingdom Hearts definitely has lot of flaws, but every game has. Until last year I kinda thought KH as perfect serie, but then I started to think about it more and realized that there is bad things on it. Then I started kinda build "hate" towards it and went little bit extreme, it's pretty easy to find many things bad if you don't look at them positively.

I mainly enjoy KH's for great music, fast and fun gameplay and story is good but messy. But then map design isn't really that good and there is many things in story that doesn't make sense and makes you think: "Why does this scene even exist?"

But again, very fun and good serie which definitely has flaws.

Because it's a great series.

Fair enough.

You're kidding right? It's Kingdom Hearts we are talking about here, granted it has its moments, like when Sora and Riku are acting weird

For a second there, I questioned your loyalty to the series....but then I got the notion that, yes, this series has flaws....and a lot of them. I mean, nothing is perfect. Even a game franchise with Final Fantasy and Disney rolled into one isn't perfect. However, despite the flaws, I for one, think the series is pretty good overall. The story is engaging, the gameplay styles are fun, and going through each title feels like an adventure for me. That's why I love the series anyway....

I can respect those who don't....but for the haters...well, they gonna hate. Just gotta deal with it.

Meh, I dunno. I'm just trying to look for validation so I can stay with the series because, honestly, I don't wanna give it up. It's not a game I grew up playing like most of you have. I've only been into the series for, like, two years, but I totally fell in love with it and it means a lot to me. Aside from FF, I haven't gotten into a series to this extent in a long, long time. I loved the setting and the characters, even if, now that I'm looking closely, they don't always act as smart as they should have, some more than others (looking at you, Xion and Aqua). It's not a nice feeling, seeing to others trash talk something you love--and being unable to refute them because when you bother to see where they're coming from, you realize they're totally right, and you feel like a total retard for ever liking them to begin with.

Firetruck Aqua, now I can't see how she was ever one of my favorites. And firetruck Roxas, for that matter. He was (is?) my current favorite, but I don't see why I should bother. I don't know why I should, but knowing my apparently poor taste, I'm making a mistake by liking him. Chances are if someone like hatok, who can properly scrutinize things, were to write an essay about why Roxas is one of the stupidest characters in the series, I'd never be able to win the argument. No matter how good I think my arguments are, hatok or whoever would be able to counter me in a way I never could, either because they're smarter than me or I'm just too blind to see the facts.

Fact is, I don't trust my judgment on this series anymore. I don't trust my opinions on this series anymore. I don't trust myself liking this game anymore, because it might just be me having bad taste, not knowing what true quality is. I don't think my words carry any weight, because maybe I'm too blind or too stupid to see things for how they really are. Not a happy feeling, gaiz.

If u love the series u take the good and the bad. It all depends on how much u luv it and want to keep with it.

U know, even if u can't prove, tell or argue to someone why u love a character or a series, u still luv it. And that's some deep luv to. Luv that u can't explain to any one but u know u luv it.

Nostalgia and connection. People can actually connect to these fictional characters. Kingdom Hearts is one of the very few video games that actually has meaning and substance. Plus, seeing all those disney characters you grew up with and love incorporated into a video game series, so you can't help yourself but actually like it.

You could say the same thing about Pokemon (why people still love Pokemon). It was released in the 90s, but it's still very successful and popular. The graphics have changed drastically over the years, but the concept is pretty much the same in the majority of Pokemon games.

Because I got stuck in this series for so long. And because there are many gorgeous characters wwwww puttheminmaidsuits

I'm getting kinda tired of waiting for them to progress with the story though.

ps I love Vanitas wwww I can relate to his back story. A lot.

personally i dont have any other reasons than ReCoded to hate this series. Im more open to new ideas, characters and interesting turns in plot than others are.

The keyblades...

And Aqua's boobs...

I think that Aqua's boobs are enough to like the series /shot

My main (if any) gripe:

Where's the Light Is Not Good already?!

The battlesystem is a reason to stick with the series for me.  Though I loved DDD's story at times I felt like the end of the story with all the shocking twists out of left field is going to wreck KH3's story which could lose my interest in the series going forward

I'm still questioning it outside the OVIOUS CRUSH ON RIKU, myself....

 :/

The action, maybe? The plot twists and characters usually make up for the crazy things.
