November 3, 201212 yr Popular Post I thought i would hate using cards when i first got the game but once I got used to them it was pretty damn fun . So i like it the way it is .It was different and made you use strategy instead of just mashing buttoms
November 3, 201212 yr No. The reason I like Chain of Memories is because of the cards. It was very unique and fun.
November 3, 201212 yr They were experimenting. I find it difficult to criticize them for that. I think CoM's real problems were pacing and variety. The main levels were cut and paste jobs that went on for far too long due to level/ card grinding (except for floor 13, which was appropriately lengthy for a final level if you ask me) and the storyline didn't have a big enough payoff for me feel like it was worth it. November 3, 201212 yr I like the cards because of the sleights, but i got to a point were i need a certain map card but i can't get it.
November 3, 201212 yr Didnt mind, as long as that wasnt the gameplay for all future games. Didnt mind, as long as that wasnt the gameplay for all future games.
November 3, 201212 yr Thats what made COM/Re:COM what they are taking out the cards means another button masher with long tedious levels :L
November 3, 201212 yr I thought they were very innovative and a good idea, fitting them into the combat while having them canon to the story made sense. Better than mentioning them then just throwing all that out the window when it comes to combat...
November 3, 201212 yr Not at all, they made the game a lot more strategic so you'd need to think on your feet and be able to pull the right cards in an instant, making the battles very heated. It also made the gameplay relative to the story so I have to give huge props for that. Pulling of sleights successfully was also tons of fun too.
November 3, 201212 yr I'm not a huge fan of the card battle system at all, but I guess I can forgive it since they were experimenting, and it was on the GBA, too. Though if the later games used the card system... >>
November 3, 201212 yr I wasn't too big a fan of the cards. But the cards was what made COM unique from other games. You actually had to think about what you were using, rather than mindlessly mashing X.
November 3, 201212 yr Chain of Memories has the single most versatile combat system in KH history, because of cards. It's one of the best systems in the franchise
November 4, 201212 yr Chain of Memories has the single most versatile combat system in KH history, because of cards. It's one of the best systems in the franchise Amen to that. I really liked to use those sleights, you had to have some kind of strategy with them and it felt extremely satisfying to defeat enemies with no damage once you made some really good combinations. Also it's nice to have game where I don't have to abuse my X button to death
November 14, 201212 yr Actually I loved the cards really ; Its kind of fun to collect ones with different effects and make decks and stuff~ Thats my opinion though. I just like how it has that uniqueness to it for me? *shrug*
November 19, 201212 yr The cards made it very hard for me to keep playing. I of course finished the game but I was so desperately waiting for any cutscenes. I wish they would just do the same gameplay for all the games.
November 19, 201212 yr I agree with that, this game would have been better if the game had it's regular battle system (Attack Magic Items and the other ones)
November 24, 201212 yr i kinda got used to the card system but yeah, it would have been better without them
November 24, 201212 yr It definitely would have been a different experience, but I think without the cards the game is to much like KH1.
November 24, 201212 yr I think cards really set it apart from all the other games, and even now with more side games it still gives COM it's uniqueness and different gameplay.
November 29, 201212 yr Spin Offs are always supposedto show new gameplay mechanics, so that the programmers can learn from that and improve next games. I LOVED the card system, but BBS was the best battle system for me. Even though, I wanna see classical, however improved, battle system gameplay com KH3 asmuch everyone does. And I guess that BBS and CoM did just well for the programers and game designers ofthe series find out ways to put SOME strategy, difficulty and thinking to the games without losing the appeal to the most "simple-minded" (kids and whatelse) public. That's all, in theory, done to improve the main series.
December 13, 201212 yr The card system in CoM is what really made this game super fun imo. Also, the cards hold some great importance story-wise as they are the guide through Caste Oblivion.
way better !!!
