So what's so special about the CoD franchise? What makes it so appealing to Western gamers? I mean seriously, it's literally the same game just with a few minor changes.I understand that the first CoD did well because that was the first game and was completely new. But now, it's just a rehash with no creativity involved whatsoever. I don't understand how a rehash like that can get so popular and sell a lot of copies (Though I bet that ha to do with the zombies and online, right?). Same thing could be said about Madden and the NBA games, they are the same game over and over again except with different stages. And before anyone goes on and say "Well, the New Super Mario bros games are a rehash. They do the same thing with every title" well I have to say that they at least creative with each new game that comes out. Like New Super Mario bros. DS. It was the first one and was a fresh step in the Mario series. Then came New Super Mario bros Wii. WHere it was the first Mario game to have co-op multimplayer with other people without having to take turns and just play at the same time. Then came New Super Mario bros 2. It featured coin collecting, coin rush mode, and a few DLC. And now New Super Mario Bros U. Where you can do things like that quick mode, new enemies and yoshies, and some other new stuff. SO it's games like CoD that makes JRPG's so less popular in the West. Too many people care about shooting more than actually trying out a game with a good and interesting plot and gameplay.
Now, before everyone goes and assumes that I'm attacking CoD. No, I am just wondering what makes a game like CoD so popular if it's the same as the last one. I don't have a grudge against it or anything. But all you do is shoot shoot shoot and idk if anyone's noticed but each new game is starting to get worse and buggy than the last. Like the new CoD Black Ops 2. I read from IGN that the online is laggy and buggy. And just look at CoD Black Ops 2: Declassified. It doesn't look any better either. No offence but it kinda looks like pretty lazy developement.
